#1.1 update
Message #197343
"I heard from customer service yesterday" Great – if it doesn't arrive in a timely fashion, let us know. Thanks for your patience. Nik
"I've haven't gotten my AS v1.1 update yet" Customer Service has said they would call you to make sure things get straightened out. Has this happened? (You might wish to comment in the Customer Service/Marketing Section if you're still having problems.) Nik
"Do you know if there is any way to save AAS .tga's as 24bit" You should bring it into SoundLab and save it with the Alpha channel deleted. This reminds me of the Tips and Tricks (page 12 of the 1.1 version) about getting files from AAS into the DPS…
There is an entry in the WIN.INI files which report the directory and version of previous installs. This should not influence the effectiveness of an update.
dave: Thanks for the reply. I was actually looking for a way to direct swapfiles from AAS *specifically*, not general tempfile info. I wondered since AAS preferences allows you to specify size why it didn't let you create a seperate drive(s), directory or directories for location, ala Photoshop. Bruce Meikle…
Hola Jonas, I followed your tip and It work fine. Thanks a lot. Regards, Lorenzo.

Thanks again for your sound advice 😉 Yes I can use search, I can even read the contents file for the library. I am not knocking E.K's work at all…he has helped me too in showing what's possible with this stuff. I just think that splitting out examples and work…
True enough….and you know how hard it is to admit your mistakes 🙂 Your right on all counts…ask what colour depth 1st etc.. I would however still suggest to the guy that if he is using 3D studios .flc files for playback on PC that he uses 256 files and…

AStudio v1.1

>> I just got through deleting the AAS directory ( including all sub-dir and icons)and when I install 1.1 from scratch it the set-up program still said it detected earlier installed version.
"thanks again for the quickest response of any forum. keep up the good work" Thanks for the encouragement. We'll do our best!
Dave, Do you know if there is any way to save AAS .tga's as 24bit — not 32 bit? AAS doesn't seem to allow any choice in the matter. And is there a way to save the .tga's in compressed format? AAS is so slooooooow and clunky with more than…

Doug, I just got through deleting the AAS directory ( including all sub-dir and icons)and when I install 1.1 from scratch it the set-up program still said it detected earlier installed version. Do you have any guess why or if it matters? Thanks. Barry
Soundlab w/ R1.1
Message #197186
Nik, For some reason the soundlab that came with R1.1 is practically unuseable; i.e. crashes often on both "saves" and "close" with "AUTOWAVE" error. On both prior releases it ran much better. I'm trying to understand if it is something specific to my set up, or just things that needs…

#AVI / FLC to FLI conver
Message #197067
I am looking some utility program to convert 320×200 AVI or FLC files to FLI. Some body may help me regarding this topics?. Thanks in advance, Lorenzo. Caracas-Venezuela.
>I am trying to convert 640×480 FLCs to 8 bit AVI files. I am doing this so that I >can play them in Power Point using the Media Player (instead off AAPlay). I am >totally overwhelmed by the user interface in Animator Studio vs. the good ol' >Animator Pro. All…
Dave, Thanks for the info I'll try that right away. Finola
Use SoundLab to delete any channels other than video (and maybe audio) (ie: the selection channel, mask channel, alpha channel). The other streams are conflicting during playback with the video channel.
Dave, I had been using the MS RLE compression. Upon further experimentation, I discovered that the converted AVI file plays fine in the Animator Studio player but not in the Windows Media player–typically all black with a few colored spots showing through. The original FLC plays fine in both cases.…
>> Are you saying that the only way to consistently keep sound and video tied together is to use a joint lossy playback AVI. If so, I think that we are in trouble because the quality of the lossy codecs is not useable for my needs.
Let me go walk through it and I will send a detailed report. It happens for me every time.

" but the flic is quite large and doesn't play smoothly." It may end up that you'll have to break the flic into smaller segments. There is a file (MOVIE.ZIP) which plays back animations with sound that can be triggered at specific frames. This might help if you can't synchronize…

"the invalid call to a DLL file" Derek: QA would like the exact error message, and when it comes up. Is it possible for you to let me know? Sorry it's taking so long to resolve this. Version 1.1 should be working fine for your under Win95, since we've got…
"This is *very* confusing. Depending on who you talk to AS will/will not/maybe a little run on NT." AAStudio 1.1 was not tested on Windows NT. NT customers seem to be reporting that the 1.1 version runs on NT for them. But Autodesk has to say it's not supported if…
