Dan, The Graphics File Finder is updated weekly, and does not reflect changes made once it's updated. I split our products last week and opened this forum on Wednesday, so until they deign to update the database it'll be a bit off. My offline database only shows two GIF files…
Can you please post this note. I'm new using CompuServe and not sure how to get it to the widest number of people. Thanks. I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who is modeling and animating very life-like human faces and hands. I plan on purchasing an SGI…
something youll find having a hard time doing without getting into windows is doing REAL 32bit programming.. sure you can do it with your 32bit dos extenders and sure you can do it with you .386p and all… but ive yet to see anything that actualy will compile a 32bit…

David, I tried using DFV on my new machine to view 24-bit flics and it refuses to work. Says it cannot recognize true color hardware. I have Diamond Stealth 64 with 2M of VRAM and it is VESA 1.2 compatible. Andrey

#214 3D Modeling Message #220
Aruna, IPAS are third party modules for 3DS that add special effects and special modelling capabilities such as particle effects, fire, explosions, etc. They would be comparable to Imagine's Special Effects. Imagine 3.o is vastly superior to Imagine 2.0. The interface for the most part is the same, with several…

I was looking for a filename TOON11.ZIP which was once in GRAPHSUPP forum Graphic Demos. However, that forum does not exist anymore. They told me that it was probably moved over to here someplace. I couldn't find it in the libraries, nor could I find it if Graphic FileFinder. I…

Hi Mike, First I learn C++, then PowerBuilder, then Oracle, then GUPTA. Whew…. Bruce
David, At GO GRAPHSUP (Lib 3, Graphics Viewers) are several choices for GIF decoders that support animated GIFs. For DOS, try CSHOW or VPIC; for Windows try VIDVUE. -lawrence
#3D Modeling Message #214
GreG, Thanks for replying to my message! I'm looking into 3DS Release 4, but I'm still looking. I've got Imagine 2.0 from Impulse, and still trying to understand its format. Is Imagine 3.0 any better? A question, what are IPAS routines? I still fairly inexperienced at these terms. Right now…
#3D Modeling Message #212
Chad, Thanks for replying to my message. To answer your question, I'm planning to use 3D for the beginning of a school video which opens with a few animations. I plan to make the opening to this video using some ideas from the movies, most recently Stargate, and T2. I…

David, If you already have 1.1.1, then 1.1.2 just fixes a bug that caused it to play 800×600 16-bit flics in 15-bit mode. The only other change is that I documented some undocumented features. (I had no reason to document 1-bit flics until I also uploaded a version of DTA…
#199 #modelling section Message #204
From: Matt Drury Computer Animation Forum · General Discussion October 31, 1994 4:06 PM
David, What you're describing is an addition rather than a change. If all that is needed is a repository for 3D models (I assume you mean DXF files and the like) I'm certain we can accomodate you.
#189 #Demo Team Message #203
Well, to answer your question, have you ever seen any demos before? There are a few in this library (Verses, 2nd Reality, Heartquake….). Well, we're writing a demo just like these groups, or teams. A bunch of neet effects…..It's for the most famous and popular "Go Graphics" group. If you…
Yesssss!!
Hi Matt, I like the new forum. Just an idea: I think a section for modelling would be good. Animation also means modelling. Also one LIB where we can put in some 3D models. I know this would mean to change it again, but it's just an idea. -David
#bitmap to DXF Message #198
just saw a new program in Graphsupport that reads bit map images and outputs DXF. Haven't d/led it yet, but many interesting. it's in Lib 15 (don't remember the name, but it's the newes file in there) -David
Good question. Don't know any program that does it. But the other problem is to find a viewer that supports animated GIFs. -David
#177 #PAR Message #196
Hi Adam, You can find many PAR users in Autodesk's Multimadia Forum, but I'm sure many will come here soon, too. -David

BTW, what did you change in the new DFV? Haven't looked at it so far, so if there is a whats.new file just tell me to RTFM -David

I've come across parts 14 and 16 of Denthor's excellent VGA tutorials (uploaded by Chris Young). Can you tell me how I can get hold of tutorials 1 thru 13 and 15? Thanks! ~~Richard.

What is the Demo Team all about? Dan Shultz
oxymoron.
What type of tools (software, hardware, etc…) are used to create a game like Myst? Do you have any suggestions on where to start learning about multimedia graphics and presentations? Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated!

Louis, Thanks for asking! Check with Bob Berry at 76555,167; I think his "CompuMake Tools" will do the trick for you.

Hi Mike, pmji… the animation engine in Macromedia Director is based upon "sprites". A sprite is a single graphic from the media database (called the "Cast Window", up to 32K castmembers per movie), which is on the screen at a certain point in time. We can layer up to 48…
Boggle animation Message #183
From: Brian Reed Computer Animation Forum · General Discussion October 31, 1994 3:23 AM
LAUGH! Anyone else seen the new 'Boggle' (the game) commercial? The family is at the table playing, and ignoring the animated dog jumping up and down and clawing at the door. It looks a lot like clay-mation, but its probably a flexible doll-like model. (Arg what are those called again?)…
>> It's kinda quiet here since we moved I just thought that after all of the debate comparing Demos to pre-generated .FLIs, .AVIs, etc. that it was kinda ironic that here we are surrounded by them.

Gilles, DTA is fine for building flic animation files, but it won't play them. I've got a player program called DFV which can handle FLIs and some other formats. The latest version is currently available over in GRAPHDEV. (This forum has an earlier version which I haven't gotten around to…

Jim, Me too. My problem is that I love programming, and Windows cuts me off from getting "down to the metal" as someone said. I wanna stuff bits in registers whwnever I want to, and not let the operating system do it for me, with code I could undoubtedly do…

I agree that those who love windows will continue to love it and the that hate it will continue to hate it. However, it is so much fun bashing things you hate. Its kind of cathardic (sp?). Sign me up for the Windows Haters and Bashers Club of America.

I am a MPEG video professional and of course am interested in anything related. Why are the message sections related to this greyed out for me?
How is the honor bestowed (become a active member of the demo team). Not for me, but I know someone . Norton
