>> when I render in the PC 480 format I only get part of the picture visible.
Dwayne It's a shame the SGI's weren't affordable. I work on an Indigo 2 and it's fantastic. Jim
Hi Dwane, do you know some Plug ins for 3DS, most help i need is the modeling. I worked some years on high modified Amigas, with Imagine the modeling tools there are real good. But im think in 3DS are not enugh, or should i use AutoCad build my models.…
Thanks Mark, yes it should be a comma, but I don`t know 20,000$ is all i have, and I`am no professional. I only started to sale some clips to our local television net. And a Silicon Graphics workstation is a dream for me. A friend tells me i should by…
John, Thanks for the comments. After I re-read that comparison I realized I left out a lot of features from both programs. Face mapping is a great feature and I apologize for neglecting it. Another biggy that I left out was the hold and fetch features. In Lightwave I left…

If you read my original post, I stated that I was surprised by the number of people who use 3DS that put down Lightwave but have _never_ used it. I have no problem with people who have used both and prefer one over the other. I think I know what…
>20.000 $ < Well, then, POV-ray and Moray are definately your ticket. Unless that decimal is supposed to be a comma, and you're ready to spend $20,000, in which case you need you a Silicon Graphics workstation and some _real_ software! 🙂

I just started using Imagine, and when I render in the PC 480 format I only get part of the picture visible. How can I correct this problem> thank you Alan (compuserve # 74673,1142)
Jeff, Good question. I've been wondering about that myself. It really depends on what you're programming. If you're doing math that translates directly to screen coords, like circles, etc., then the 1:1 aspect ration of Mode X 320×240 is cool. This is what first attracted me to it, and why…
Yeah, I know what the concept is. I even sorta see what the problem with "cosmic" was. Still, it was interesting artistically. Wait. I have a buddy here who knows nothing about the "demo scene". Here's his comments: (on cosmic): the visal scene was exciting, however, the actual message was…
Claude, Thanks. I will look up thoses articles. -Frank
Paintbrush has a limit of pasting to the viewable area of the image regardless of the immage attributes. I have found the best results by turning off the tool bar and palatte to increase the 'veiwable area'
>> I haven't seen the sequence you talk about, but I have been programming graphics for quite a few years. I've recently written a FLI/FLC player for our companies use, but I don't know of any format that could store a six minute (360 seconds, maybe 3600 frames, at low…

#Karl Simms
Message #693
Am looking for the address of Karl Simms, the physicist in Boston who writes animation in his spare time. We'd like to use his work in a TV commercial but can't get thru on his phone line. Any clues appreciated. Laura Anderson Wilmanns, Enterprise Advertising
>What I really want to do is rotoscope over the individual frames and make a new "painted" animation based on original AVI (video) footage. That might be baked into the 'RSN' FDP3.

Has anyone heard about any specifics on apple's VR technology? It is supposedly will take VR to new heights and eliminate the cartoonish feeling of current VR technology. Does anyone have any info on this technology?

Hehe I know. I know a guy who works htere. He has written a raytracer for a small german animation program before he went to Blue Sky. Someone from Blue Sky talked about their projects at Siggraph. They have developed a lot of great stuff. -David
Just ask if you want to know anything. That's what these forums are for 🙂 -David
I'm still hoping for Sculptura 2. Saw a beta and it was very good, but it will take some time till it is out. -David
John, thanks. No hurry! 🙂 -David
Leon, VFW11D.EXE – 1.1d – is the newest version to my knowledge. It should also bring along an enhanced Media Player to enable you to take advantage of the new formats and codecs.

#VFW111.EXE problems..
Message #664
I got VFW111.EXE and ran it on my system. Now the Media Player in Windows won't run .avi files– it says: "MCIAVI requires a later version of MSVIDEO.DLL — Please Reinstall Your Video Software". (I thought VFW111.EXE would have installed a NEWER version of MSVIDEO.DLL!) Then when I clicked "OK"…
