Animation Works Message #652
From: JOE MORRIS Computer Animation Forum · Forum Information November 9, 1994 12:28 AM
I am new to animation and this forum. I have played with a few programs and found Animation Works by Gold Disk the most user friendly. I would like to know if anyone is familiar with it or knows of a better one. I am sure there are better ones.…
> full screen animation of something like a fractal generation program < Have you played with fractint? It can do no end of interesting images, and is very popular for generating backgrounds, background animations, and so on. ..mark

jim Airframe is not compressed, and it is not a data file. Rather, it's an executable the creates each frame from scratch (calculates what is where and draws it to the screen) each time it is run. Now, I don't think that any of us here actually dis-like .FLI/.FLC files…
David, Thanks for your reply. Please see my reply to Claude Benoit. -Frank

Thanks for the answer Perry. I'll try to stop by the ER booth at COMDEX. Unfortunately I'll only have two days at COMDEX this year, and it's got to the point where not even in the whole week you can see everybody and all the things you want to check…
Thanks for your encouraging reply. I am a cardiac electrophysiologist and do, among other things, radiofrequency catheter ablation of bypass tracts and reentry circuits. You may already know about the field, but it involves using electrical signals through catheters to localize discrete areas in the heart. The only "visual" tool…

If you can solve a problem for me maybe we can talk about it. I need to know how to set a Windows screen saver name dynamically without having to recompile my .DEF file. Any ideas?

I know how you feel. No offense intended. I've just been playing "flame wars" with some of these kids in the demo area for fun. I hope I didn't act too rashly. Thanks for your understanding. John
AVI to Quicktime Message #640
From: C Hinkle Computer Animation Forum · QuickTime Videos November 8, 1994 9:36 PM
Is there a public domain or shareware program which convert AVI to quicktime. I have a AVIQT.SIT which is supposed to do it, but neither Stuffit, Expander, or CompactPro can uncompress the program.

Thanks.
I have as-built drawings of the projects, so inputting the dimensional info into a program is no problem. Tony

>> Look at Airframe…It's something like 6 minutes long…It's a 60k file. 60k, not 60 megs…. I haven't seen the sequence you talk about, but I have been programming graphics for quite a few years. I've recently written a FLI/FLC player for our companies use, but I don't know of…

I've recently looked at several 3D rendering packages in the market. My docs are at work, but I've seen demos from Caligari TrueSpace 3D. It's Windows based and features a very intuitive interface with quick rendering times. The cameras are placed similar to Lightwave 3D (Video Toaster fame and now…

Fred, I've read you're comments to Nils about vertical lines in mode-X for 3D polygons and was wondering… What would be more advantageous, the square pixels of 320 x 240, or the ease of puting pixels in 320 x 200 (and then adjusting the aspect ratio) ? I've gotten the…

Gerald, see my other message to Thomas. There are many 3D animation programs available. Hardware: the faster the better. -David
Hi Thomas, Finding a good program for the PC isn't that hard, but on the other hand it is, since there are so many now! I use Imagine from Impluse. It's quite powerful and the price is very low compared to the features. But there is much more. 3D-Studio from…

Thanks for the reply. I don't like very much triangles oriented models because they need too much CPU time for the animation, but for the portability it's a good solution. I shall try to write a converter 2RAW. Where can I get some info about this format? I have already…
