#1335- YARC Boards Message #1359
From: Jim Jonah Computer Animation Forum · Forum Information November 29, 1994 3:37 PM
John, Greg Patton (GrPatton) on AOL has written a utility that converts DXFs to SEGs. The utility is in Hashes forum on CIS. Maybe you could incorporate gregs utility into your conversion program. I would LOVE to buy 3D clip that could be used in Animation Master efficiently. Hope this…

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. Had quite a bit of work to do this week. Does InterChange work with Animation Master?

Shucks, thanks! I guess I am. It's very kind of you to call my work amazing. Which renderings have you seen? They seem to be stirring up alot of interest these days. Thanks again for the note:) – Rod
#983 Mac de zip Message #1015
From: Lily Owens Computer Animation Forum · Forum Information November 17, 1994 9:21 AM
Hi Joel, You need MACzip to unzip files. Try using the MAC File Finder, GO MACFF, to locate it. Then you shouldn't have any trouble unzipping files. Becareful, tho, that you don't download programs for PCs. You won't have any trouble viewing text files, but programs wouldn't run correctly. Always…

I would like any information available on a way to use a regular cassette player to interface with a PC. The method would have to be something that any receipient of the cassette tape could employ to have his tape recorder actually advance a PC slide show. Any technology would…

From: Matt Drury Computer Animation Forum · Forum Information November 17, 1994 8:57 AM
Joel, Not at all. There's a wide variety of unZIP utilities for the Macintosh, and the newer ones are just as good as the ones on the PC end. For now, GO MACFF and search on the keyword UNZIP for programs newer than mid-1993. This will help ensure the 2.04…

Mac de zip Message #983
Mr. Wood: I am new to this forum. I am concerned that most of the library is .zipped and I am running a macintosh (Quadra 800). Before I spend time and MB downloading, does this preclude me from using these files? In the past I have not had easy times…
Andy, SGI is used for mostly major applications (with a lot of bucks) However the bulk of 3D aniamtions is still done on more discrete platforms like PC MAC and AMIGA. And a lot of those animations are as good as any animations created on an SGI. I know of…

My company makes several inexpensive CDROMs of 3D models. We have two editions of the "Syndesis 3D-ROM". Volume I contains more than 500 models. Volume II contains more than 200 new models. All models are unlocked and ready to use, each is stored in five 3D formats: AutoCAD DXF, 3DS,…

Kevin, I reccoment the PAR (personal animation recoder) from DPS. It's a card for the PC (or Amiga). It's a HD-VCR. You give it the TGA files and after a short time you can play back your anim as video. Supports full video resolution. I think it's $2500 plus HD.…

I am looking for icons that display animation behavior (e.g., a printer with paper coming out, or a card scanner with a card being scanned in). I am also looking for development tools for capturing video images and displaying them from within programs. Can you help? Thanks.
#882 Alias vs. SoftImage Message #943
I spoke with Side Effects today and I think I will stay with Alias for the time being. I am just gettting started with an SGI Indy and I am not doing character animation. PRISMS is a full blown package which is comparable to Alias's Power Animator. I am going…

Hi Ed, Take a look in the libraries here. (Try a keyword search using "Video for Windows" or "Quicktime" or whatever format you want to play). I just DL'd Playit v. 1.51 the other day and it works fine as far as I can tell. I've also used Vidvue 3.1……

Well, Robert, Your question was put to the greenest of the green. I'm an architect who has taken a wild hair to become a master of animation. So far, I've managed to make 2 short five section animaitons which parallel the tutorials in the manual of StratVision 3D, the volkswagen…
Ed, there is one. Check out Graphsupport Forum for animation payers. There should be the latest Video for Windows drivers. I'm sure you can also find them in MSLIB. -David

Hallo Christian. . .Robert.

Hi John. We just start working with StrataStudioPro on a powermac 7100. Ed, It exists, and since AVI is Audio and Video, sounds are built right in. What kind of computer do you have?
From: Brian Reed Computer Animation Forum · Forum Information November 15, 1994 8:36 AM
Windows plays AVI files. If you dont have Video For Windows, look to Microsoft. VFW11.??? is available here somewhere, probably in WINMM. For sure its here on CIS, and its free. Now the challenge: make it work right. Bri

From: John N. Jordan Computer Animation Forum · Forum Information November 14, 1994 11:37 PM
Interesting stuff. When you talk about Hensen, you mean the hand controlled, puppet type control right? Or does that integrate into SI/Alias somewhere? I'd say that it would be something a bit more difficult and unnatural than a "waldo" or the reflector-input type deal. As I understand, Hensen's setup has…

Hello, Does anyone know if there exists a "Video Animation" player for viewing AVI files. If one exists, is it public domain? Can you add sounds to it also ? Thanks Ed
John, and anyone interested in facial animation. I'm looking into a company called All Effects (818-768-200) that makes an animatronic unit. Haven't received their information yet. They say they have a product that can do most of what Hensen can do. I don't believe Hensen sells their system. Has anyone…
Thanks Anton for the name and number. I will look at them. Let me know how your evaluations go, and if you are planning to do character animation (especially human faces, hands, clothing), which package you plan on buying.

David, > we have political commercials on TV. < Sorry to hear that. Here the law is that if a station agrees to show one political commercial, they must show all. Furthermore, they all must be charged the same rate (the minimum) regardless of how many are aired. In short,…

So since A:M doesn't have particles, I could animate one small sphere, save the motion library, insert a lot of spheres into the scene, apply the motion with variations in timing, and get the same effect, COOL!!

Jim, the splashing water are particles. They explode a little and the gravity brings them down again very quick. The particles are small transparent spheres. Particles are a great thing. You can use them for so many things! I did the anim at TV resolution and the whole thing (the…
Hi Jeff, we have political commercials on TV. Every party gets time on TV, but they can't buy commercial time just like other commercials. So it's limited. -David
Nice to see you on CompuServe. Just wanted to pass along that I've really liked the dancing cars… great work!

Well, Thanks for all the input. The best I have been able to do is MMGRASP. Unfortunately it looks like I'll have to find a new echo cardiagram that will use the Windows multi-media interfaces. So my new quest is to find public domain full motion immages of just about…
