QTapplication? Message #860
From: Bob Pike Computer Animation Forum · QuickTime Videos November 14, 1994 1:59 PM
I'm looking for a "relatively" inexpensive application for creating small QT movie animations. They will be primarily animated logos for on-line use and will be very modest in size and scope because of the way they'll be used. I'm an experienced graphic designer, and reasonably knowledgeable in conventional animation techniques.…
QT JPEG vs. PC Message #829
From: ALEX KRAMER Computer Animation Forum · QuickTime Videos November 13, 1994 1:15 PM
I was given a Mac diskette with a few QT JPEG images on it. I xferred them to a PC (I have no capability of viewing them on a Mac). I opened them up in QT for windows' v1.1 Veiwer utility. This opened the images, but only displayed the top…

Tim, I have gotten a couple of hybrid disk the past few months and couldn't get any of them to work without completely changing my Windows setup. Mainly going to a 256 color 640×480 mode. Some of them still gave me the error message that QTW wasn't loaded. Yet It…

Is there a public domain or shareware program which convert AVI to quicktime. I have a AVIQT.SIT which is supposed to do it, but neither Stuffit, Expander, or CompactPro can uncompress the program.
#615 Quicktime on PC Message #626
Hi Andrew, I've checked, and in my \QTW\BIN directory there are a couple of 'em: QTMOVIE.VBX and QTPIC.VBX, theres also assembler, basic and c/c++ files aswell. Colin 😉

Tim, How do you like QT for the PC. I know you've worked a lot with .AVI s as well. Do you see any advantages to them from a programming and performance aspect? Andrew McClary Graphic Alchemy Productions, Inc.

John, Thanks for the excellent input. We hammered out the flattening issue a few months ago in CORNER, and are looking at enhancing QT support in our video forums in coming weeks.

Hi Matt, Best resource I know of for QTW installation and play is Bob Currier's documentation in one of the libraries of the Macintosh Multimedia Forum (GO MACMEDIA). If my memory's not *too* flaky it's called QTWDOC.TXT. fwiw, QTW 2.0 is due RSN and is said to have an easier…

IMHO the Intel Smart Recoder is not smart at all and slow. Check out DC1tv from miro. It does real 30 fps at at least 320×240 (higher in PAL mode, dunno about NTSC mode, but the card can do both). And Premiere comes bundeled with it for only $200 extra.…

David, I'll pass word along about Premiere. We're testing the Intel Smart Video Recorder and the ATI VideoIT packages, and finding strengths and faults in each. Another program can't hurt.
#280 #OLE init fails!? Message #340
Matt, I got Adobe Premiere which can play QT movies. Never tired the player only that is online on CIS somewhere. Premiere is a great tool and worth the money. I got it bundled with a video capture card. -David

Thanks, Matt! If you read my subsequent messages and exchanges with others, you know how the problem extends beyond just the apple implementation. If you find anything out, I'd be grateful to hear it. Tim Hitchings actually *wrote* eview, so he's *got* to be an expert. As you read, probably,…

Leon, Personally, I'm still trying to get a handle on QT myself. The installation on my machine went flawlessly, and I'm trying to nail down specifics on a few problems, including your message of the 28th. If there's any QT experts hanging out in the forum, please speak up. We…

Matt, I've been having the worst time in years at my PC trying to get Quicktime movies running. You know about the problem I had with the Apple version. I tried Eview.exe from the EDRIVE forum (see my message to Tim Hitchings; it runs but won't recognize movies as movies,…

Tim, I took your advice to Andrew and went EDRIVE and got their EVIEW.EXE. SETUP would not run so I had to manually expand all of the files. I finally got the program to load, but when I selected a movie it said something like Unable to Open Movie! Most…

Thanks, Matt! 1. Installed from floppy disks following precisely the instructions in the README file. 2. Downloaded QT111W.ZIP (I think that's the file name) from some site on the Net to which I was taken via a hyperlink from Today's Cool Site (which turned out to be Buena Vista Pictures).…

Colin, > One of the problems though, is … the MAC Header on the file. There's a program call UNMAC in the desktop publishing forum that removes MAC headers. There are also programs to uncompress .SIT and .SEA files (MAC-type .ZIP equivalants). BTW, is there a DOS based Quicktime reader/converter??…

Yikes. Leon, let's track the process a bit and see if we can help you. * Did you install from floppy disk or hard drive? * Where did you get the QT4W files from (online, friend, elsewhere)? * Did you exit Windows and restart? Reboot your computer? Sometimes either of…

Hi Andrew, You can get QuickTime for Windows in one of the MacIntosh Forums (MACDEV?), can't remember which one, the files are QTDSK1.ZIP and QTDSK2.ZIP. One of the problems though, is the PC bawks at the MAC Header on the file, I haven't found many QT movies that don't have…
