You've got THAT right. Byte is yellow as canine-enhanced snow. –Ben–
Computer Room on Arapahoe (2 block east of I-25). 303-799-9733. In my opinion, the best dealer in town. I'll go nowhere else to do business.

Hello! I have two questions. I have written a short document comparing the Xerox 4020 and H-P Paintjet printers. It would be of interest to artists looking for information on them. Where and how do I upload it? I think I can arc it correctly but am not sure where…

Amiga Purchase
Message #133099
Yes on the 512K upgrade, and Yes on the external 3.5" drive, both are essential to full enjoyment of the A500. As to the monitor, the CBM monitor is not a bad monitor, but it's not a super high quality monitor either. Considering its price, it compares favorably with other…

Tom, That's what I'd recommend with _maybe_ the exception of the monitor. If you can afford it, I'd look at a Sony alternative — the CPD-1201 for an analog/digital RGB monitor or one of Sony's receiver/monitor combos. That will probably run you roughly $200 more than the CBM monitor (1084).

Bob, Check out the help files in DL 1. You can find them with a BRO/KEY:*HLP, and they are very useful. One you will need for sure is ARC.HLP, and its companion program in DL 4 called ARC.EXE. The viewer program you downloaded is most likely in ARCed form, and…
I don't think Richard was referring to 'stealing some work for which your are NOT completely responsible' and makeing it public. He was talking about a single individuals work, although at the AmigaFriends club, we have talked about putting some jointly produced programs in the public domain.
Hmmm… thoughts stir… Well, I woulkd say the decision would be based on WHAT it was that was being given away. I doubt that proprietary algorithms/drivers/libraries would, or even should, be given free rein. However, the clever hacks that won't make it commercially are a different matter altogether. If someone…
"I sometimes think it's downright immoral for people to be handing out their work." Now this is an attitude held VERY strongly by a famous personality in the computer community, and I've never had an opportunity to understand it. Since I couldn't ask him, but I can ask you… Whence…

Morality? I sometimes think it's downright immoral for people to be handing out their work. I think it's quite immoral to encourage Amiga programmers to hand out the fruits of their labor for free. A lot of the supposed "hacker ethic" thinks that way, and I'm against it. Sure, people…

Henry, I think you exaggerate in your passion to have the most heard opinion in the forum. Your credibility will fade if everything is described as either the worst or the best. Yes, I looked at the 1080 and vomited instantly. Lighten up.
If you consider a 1080 far superior to all the other monitors, you must have a different set of eyes. The 1080 is the most blurred, fuzzy, distorted, washed-out, glare-sensitive monitor I've ever seen in my entire life. Suffice it to say it's the worst RGB I've ever seen in…

I don't want to start any kind of fight, but I find the Amiga 1080 a far superior monitor than all the rest. It definitly surpasses any of the other Commmodore monitors. Most probobly because of its frosted screen which redices the glare. However, I don't think they make the…

I think the bottom line is that when I buy a software package, I (at least) EXPECT it to perform as advertised. If it does, all is well and good. If it doesn't, it DESERVES to be raked across the coals. I think WP has been nit picked, flamed and…
Did you yourself jump in and say anything even remotely positive about Interceptor? No, of course, you jumped in with the remark about EA constructing a frame and rushing a product out to the streets. There are PLENTY of other ways to phrase that particular criticism – how about "Interceptor…
I had HOPED to move myself away from the WordPerfect discussion completely, yet you insist on bringing it back. I've been enjoying WordPerfect discussions elsewhere with constructive people bent on constructive criticisms with people who actually use the product. negative things _were_ given to WP Corp, EA, Aegis, New Horizons, etc., in a 'carefully, slowly, easily, and with sugar on top' manner. In some cases it worked, and in other cases it didn't. Serious problems deserve serious attention, and there comes a time when you have to get tough…

Joseph, Well, the Amiga's not a laptop, but beyond that…it's a far superior computer to the 100, at a higher price of course. Among some of it's features are: 1. True multi-tasking (run more than 1 program at once) 2. Fantastic graphics 3. Stereo sound 4. High capacity floppy disks…

ARC23 is the latest – I don't know if there is a later version anywhere.
The latest published quote from Commodore as of May 1, 1988 is a total of 600,000 units world wide. Expected total for the end of 1988 is just under 1 Million.
