forgive me I someone's asked this before but… Does your software directly support the Matrox Illuminator Pro CCIR 601 board? As you described your product, it translates images into CCIR 601 when it transffers them from disk to an Exabyte. What about with the CCIR 601 Matrox board? can you…
John, While comparing Pentium's to PowerPC's, it's interesting to note that Intel has plans to release the 686 in one year and a 786 in two. My guess is that the Pentium is last x86 compatible chip from Intel. Beyond that, x86 will be software emulation only. Freed from 80's…

You guys are announcing ver. 3 at SIGGRAPH this Aug. Does this mean ver. 3 will be distributed at that time, or is the release date later. Thanks.

Friend of mine picked up Playmation. His opinion is the software's fine for making AVI files, but that's about it. The copy he has is filled with bugs and crashs occasionally. But you can't beat the price. It also has unsusual, and undoubtly soon to be copied, ablites to animation…

Greg, I need a bit of advice from you. I have a group of people offering to sell me a used 4MB AT-Vista. They bought a bunch, never used, and what to get rid of them. They asked me what I wanted to pay for it? What'a you think? What…

Kevin, your arguments have me sitting on the fence regarding the two boards. What about the TARAG+ supposed inablity to do full broadcast resolution at 24bits. I was told the board does something like 20, or 16 bits at that res.? Any info on that. Thanks.

Greg, Maybe my blast at the Digital Vista was a bit extreme, maybe the Vista has extrodinary ablities beyond video production, but my opinion arose from what I heard – the digital vista is aimed at the video market. In which case, those rather extrodinary ablites are minamized. You're paying…

As I have been told, it has RGB out. If not directly, then through a daughter board. Several third party manufacturers are building boards for it, like real-time broadcast quality MPEG. In not aware of anybody building anything for the Digital Vista. The Pro can also be expanded into a…

John, Isn't this the same capablity as the Matrox Illuminator Pro but for more money? I don't know the technical details between the two, but the CCIR 601 version of the PRO does the same resolution and 4:2:2 conversion. It also has a digital output daughter board.

You may want to check out the Matrox MGA Ultima. It runs at 64bits, instead of 32bits like the Viper and Hercules. But the Ultima is a little pricier.

While I can understand a company's desire for secrecy, and am bound myself by several non-disclosure agreements, including from Microsoft, I beleive there should be limits to it. I spoke to Matrox techie about their Illuminator board recently. He said that they sell two versions – square pixel and CCIR 601. The CCIR 601 has higher resolutions but the software must support it. If the software doesn't, circles will appear as ellipses. So… the question is… (suprise) does…

Where can I find an authorized dealer of this equipment? Also, how does the Matrox's internal (I assume) encoder and decoder compare to Targa+'s?
WOW!!!! I hope Autodesk jumps on this stuff because it looks like the direction PC based animation will go.
While not all people have problems with DOS 6, myself included, there are too many who do. In fact, in a computer industry daily trade journal two days ago, the lead story was DOS 6's problems and the industry wide reluctance by corporate MIS heads to convert to it.
