The book is going to be published by Addison Wesley – it is on programming games. They used the Castle.Jpg image I uploaded sometime ago ( they saw it on the GAME DEVELOPERS forum – GAMDEV) – I had to change quite a bit of the lighting and sky since…
A publisher bought one of my images for a book jacket. I have no idea what the final size will be. I just have to submit it to them in CMYK at 300 dpi. What I have done is brought the RGB TIF file into Photoshop and converted it to…
Thanks for the info but I don't know what the finally size with be in print. That is up to the publisher. Judy
#300 dpi Output – How?
Message #170357
I need to render an image so that the resolution will be 300 dpi. I am rendering a TIFF file. WHat do I need to do to set that up? Judy
Thanks Judy
#POCO+Animator Studio
Message #169084
Does the new Animator Studio support Poco? Can you run Poco files from within Animator Studio? Judy
I would consider 50-100 bucks large – especially when spread through a whole bunch of IPAS. To say nothing about some of those that might not bother with conversion. Judy
Alan – My HUGE financial outlay my be small change to you! However, when a product switches over to another operating system – the upgrade costs are often not neglible. Read the prices lists for various "swtichovers" Judy
But the other solution would allow all your IPAS routines to run without the HUGE FINANCIAL outlay for upgrades! Big consideration here! Judy
John – I think that we are talking about the same thing. I know it doesn't emulate all of NT, but will allow the executables to run under DOS – this should somehow allow r5 code to run under DOS – I would think. Also I read that IBM has…
I read somewhere that there is some version of Phar Lap which if you compile your code with it, will allow NT written code to run under DOS. I am not sure of all the details of this – but apparently there is a Phar Lap solution to NT code.…
Kyle a question on your technique – what fusion color do you favor for muscles, green ? Also do you favor paper sketches and layouts before you start working with Metaballs – I have been fooling around with various objects and it seems that sort sort of planning in advance…
I figures that hidden meta balls still get generated when you create the mesh – Found the problem yesterday – It was an instance created in the Keyframer with snapshot and I had to delete it from there – I am not sure I understand the logic behind this -…
Thanks Lee – I have been using Red to fill out the shape but I will change them to green. I hope someone has some answer to the Ball that wont erase! Judy
What is the source of this Photoshop plugin? WHo is it from? Judy
#Errant MetaBall
Message #165561
I am have several unrelated problems with metaballs. I have one metaball that I cannot delete/hide/move etc. It is just there and I can't do anything with it! Occasionally after I do an MSHAPE no all of my metaballs will be included in the MSHAPE? Could you some help with…
I have been using ARRAY and just moving them afterwards – I am still experimenting to get the hang of what results I get from the different colors. I like the idea of "snapshot" – I suppose I ought to jump right in and start building something I want -…
I'll check that out. I have played a little with it and I am curious – it does not seem as if the mesh is a smooth – it looks like the metaballs don't get absorbed but rather stay as "balls" – does that make sense? Judy
Thanks for the info Kyle. I should be pestering you for lots of help soon. I went out and bought MetaReyes 🙂 I notice that they are no tutorials 🙁 By the way will IK and BONES-PRO work with the mesh from MetaReyes? From reading the user manual it appears…
Thanks Martin. I thought it was something like that but I kept trying to work at the Bit level – I just never even thought of the plain integer – I was down there trying to match up bits with the various objects 🙁 Judy
Do the spheres need to fill in the entire body – in other words are there metaballs in the interior of the model or are they just for the outside.? I know this sounds awkward – I hope you understand what I am trying to say.
#Filter Parmeter/KSCRIPT5
Message #163878
I have a question on the "FIlter" parameter. I was looking at K-Script5 and the following statement appears: "ChooseNode "Select Parent Object", 127-NT_AMBIENT-NT_TARGET The value of the filter is 91 – why does 91 give you a list of all the objects, plus the camera and the ambient light? WHat…
I looked at the T-REX model you did and it was GREAT! One question though, it looks as the map would have little ridges where the metaballs are -how are they fused into one unit as opposed to little lumpy balls? Judy
When you model in Metaballs – can you create an outline of the image you are modeling or do you build it free form and shape by using the various balls only? I am hoping that a demo of v2.0 will get uploaded.
Thanks for the info. I just bought the product but it looks like I won't be able to do much with it until I can call you guys on Monday for the password 🙁 Judy
This may have been asked before, but is it possible to paint on part of the mesh(certain faces) and have mapped material on the rest of the mesh? Judy
Thanks Anne – Judy
What is the scheduled implementation date for the ASOFT forum? Judy
I have been trying something like that by putting the object in box mode and then setting up the box in the top view port. As for the distance – I have to make the object fit into a square of a specific number of pixels – so I have…
Thanks Steve – I was looking at game like Sim CIty 2000 and they seem to have a 3/4 view. If you "trace" the bounding box of their object it appears to be a square rotate 45 degrees. I don't think games use a true Isometric view. Judy
Try COmputer Gaming World – also has the initials CGW. Judy
I will give that a try. Judy
Thanks Judy
Because I need animation -and you can't animate the user view. The user is specifying that he wants an isometric view of everything. Since it is for a game I believe that he really wants a 3/4 view. I sent him a cube with box mapping rendered in the User…
I know Greg – that is why I am struggling to get the camera to be set up in such a way that it shows the object in a 3/4 or isometric view since I will need to animate the object. I need to use the Camera view – not…
Someone had told me that they had read in an architecture book that ISOMETRIC meant 30 degrees rotation on each Axis. SOmehow that didn't seem quite right but then I don't pretend to know anything about it. From the gaming perspective, I believe it is loosely defined as a 3/4…
Nothing Particular – but when I try out the demo – I would like to try a demo of the finished product not the beta version of the product. It makes for a fairer evaluation of the product. Judy
Fantastic looking David – A definitely must-have if you are doing games! Be sure to add me to your list to get some literature etc. on the product. Judy
Will you be uploading a new version of the Demo? Judy
New Forum Software when?
Message #160629
Hi – When is the new forum software scheduled to be installed on ASOFT forum? We just heard that the forum software for the GAMxPUBs are set to go (along with other forums) the March 28,29,30,&31. Since Navigators have to be updated I would like to know the scheduled date.…
Thanks David – That will be a great help! It is exactly what I wanted. Just out of curiosity what is the true definition of ISOMETRIC? Judy
Thanks I new that file was there somewhere but I couldn't find it. Thanks Judy
#Screen Capture Parameter
Message #160457
What is the parameter to add to the 3DS set file so that you can do a screen capture from the 3D Editor or some other window? Judy
Is there some way that you can do this in animation? Judy
#Help with Isometric view
Message #160392
What is the easiest way to set the Camera viewport up so that is the same as the User Viewport? I can get it almost exactly the same, but never 100% identical. I need to have meshes rendered and animated with a true isometric view. Judy
Thanks – I have been using the Inside 3DS – but after spending all day yesterday with it – I think that you are right it is an alignment problem. I had thought it might be an angle of incidence – but that did not prove to be the case.…
Spotlight Help needed
Message #159466
I am having a problem with a spotlight. It is simulating a street light at night. I have a cone mapped with a transparent 2-side material. But the problem is – depending on how I position or turn the mesh of the streetlight – sometimes I will see the beam…
I would have thought that the percentage of Intel based was more than 50%. I have had close dealings with Microsoft which have convinced me that as an organization they are "kissing cousins" to the mafia. Some of their business practices are unethical to put it mildly and a jail…
I am afraid to use any mouse driver but 7.4 (IBM version) – it works with everything and never causes trouble. The real problem in mouse drivers began with 8.0 and gets worse with each new driver. Judy
I don't believe that there are true standards in the IBM PC industry. Just because it sits on the shelf and you can buy it does not mean it is a standard. Intel came as close as any company to setting a standards for chips and now you have Cyrix…
