#191707 Light Beam Message #191751
From: LEE STEEL Autodesk Multimedia Forum · IPAS Usage September 20, 1995 5:30 AM
Honestly, I think your best bet is to create the cylinders which simulate the beams, attach them to these lights, and apply an almost transparent material. IMHO (of course). You might also see Kyle McKisic's examples of "volume lighting" in the libraries. Lee

Hey guys, I hate to be a spoil sport, and I waited a few days for this thread to die but you really need to take it to the hardware section. This has nothing to do with EXPLODE IPAS any more and hasn't for a few days. Thanx, Lee

#191020 #Refraction Mapping Message #191371
From: LEE STEEL Autodesk Multimedia Forum · IPAS Usage September 18, 1995 6:33 AM
Aurora mapping will creata an inflated or deflated version of your mesh which you can then apply an almost transparent material and create an aurora/aura around your mesh 3-dimensionally. You will also be able to save inflated or deflated versions of your mesh as new mesh objects. i.e. Make a…
#191075 MAGIC Message #191368
From: LEE STEEL Autodesk Multimedia Forum · IPAS Usage September 18, 1995 6:05 AM
As long as you get a grasp of controlling the duration of the effect and how many particles are released on each frame you should have no problem. One of my favorite things to do is to create custom gradients 1 pixel high by (?) the number of frames in…
#191043 MAGIC Message #191367
From: LEE STEEL Autodesk Multimedia Forum · IPAS Usage September 18, 1995 6:00 AM
The "2", "3". & "4" coincide with the release of 3DS you are using. Eahc has features that are optomized for it's version although all will run under R4. There was a change between 3 and 4 which had somthing to do with "life span" and particles released when creating…

#190705 What IPAS do I Need? Message #190792
From: LEE STEEL Autodesk Multimedia Forum · IPAS Usage September 14, 1995 5:45 AM
You might want to think about doing the modeling with a metaball modeler (OrganiX from Digimation or Metareyes from 4DVision) these programs result in very smooth, organic objects. A routine called Smooth comes with Digimation's Bones Pro package that will smooth out sharp edges. Lee
#190773 Disk 5:Trees & Forest Message #190790
From: LEE STEEL Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Index and Info September 14, 1995 5:34 AM
Again, it is my feeling that for it's time, the forest function in Silicon Garden was fine but it created lots of geometry and in those days we were using 386's which could really crawl. Scatter does the job in a much more managable way. IMHO Lee

"Make Art" comes bundled with the large bottle of "Instant Artist". I don't believe they sell that one seperately.

I can say for certain that MeshPaint will have a MAX version but I can't speak for Metareyes. We can only hope.
