The hardware portions ot this thread have been moved to the Hardware sectio under the topic "New Hardware!" Lee, (FA)
Honestly, I think your best bet is to create the cylinders which simulate the beams, attach them to these lights, and apply an almost transparent material. IMHO (of course). You might also see Kyle McKisic's examples of "volume lighting" in the libraries. Lee
Sorry, I'm no programmer, only a user. This is a question for Jonas! Hey Jonas!, got your ears on?
thanx David!
Hey guys, I hate to be a spoil sport, and I waited a few days for this thread to die but you really need to take it to the hardware section. This has nothing to do with EXPLODE IPAS any more and hasn't for a few days. Thanx, Lee
Sorry, I don't. You can try calling him at Digimation though. 1.800.854.4496
Try posting a message to David Thompson.
Aurora mapping will creata an inflated or deflated version of your mesh which you can then apply an almost transparent material and create an aurora/aura around your mesh 3-dimensionally. You will also be able to save inflated or deflated versions of your mesh as new mesh objects. i.e. Make a…
As long as you get a grasp of controlling the duration of the effect and how many particles are released on each frame you should have no problem. One of my favorite things to do is to create custom gradients 1 pixel high by (?) the number of frames in…
The "2", "3". & "4" coincide with the release of 3DS you are using. Eahc has features that are optomized for it's version although all will run under R4. There was a change between 3 and 4 which had somthing to do with "life span" and particles released when creating…
Do you already have Magic? I can talk you through this one.
Hi Bill, Selling everything? (DOS at least?) I have a user here in CT looking for a copy, please send me pricing info… Lee
Please send me private e-mail on pricing.
>>When I get home from a long day at work, the _last_ thing I wanna think about is 3D Studio
For what it's worth, someone is already working on this one.
You might want to think about doing the modeling with a metaball modeler (OrganiX from Digimation or Metareyes from 4DVision) these programs result in very smooth, organic objects. A routine called Smooth comes with Digimation's Bones Pro package that will smooth out sharp edges. Lee
Again, it is my feeling that for it's time, the forest function in Silicon Garden was fine but it created lots of geometry and in those days we were using 386's which could really crawl. Scatter does the job in a much more managable way. IMHO Lee
"Make Art" comes bundled with the large bottle of "Instant Artist". I don't believe they sell that one seperately.
I can say for certain that MeshPaint will have a MAX version but I can't speak for Metareyes. We can only hope.
Anne has agreed to move Drippy back to IPAS1 once you upload to ASHOWCASE. Please break them into seperate images and upload as JPG (not zipped) so the masses using online viewers can see them online.
I believe "Instant Artist" is a new aerosal spray that Tim Forcade has been working on to assist in the transformation of NEW 3DS users who bought the Student Version and expect the software to have built in creativity. Seriously, I think "Instant Artist" is a product which has been…
Take a look at the tutorials on using the Deform/Fit commands in the lofter.
Thanx Anne.
Anne, Might I request that this one stay in Lib1? This file is VERY timely and shows off functionality of Refraction Mapping which everyone is asking about.
WOW!
Thanx David, this is good stuff !!!!
Crestline Software has several types of models. They sell both Humanoid and Klinemodelz. Call 909-338-1786

Yea, but ist's always the disgruntled mail employee who shows up with an automatic weapon. Let's not piss them off.
Pay a service bureau to dump your sequentially numbered .tga files to tape.
Although disk 5 (Silicon Garden) will create wonderful trees and vegetation, you will want to have Disk 6 so you can use SCATTER for multiplying the trees.
You might want to look into SMACKER. There may still be samples in the library.
And you certainly did THAT!
Mine, Should have called it "fishing with Greg" part2.

The following is an article published in the latest Artifact, newsletter of 3D Artists and Animators users groups. Thought everyone might enjoy this one. Video Intl. & Details Video International, known for their very interesting TV commercial clips on the Autodesk Siggraph 94 reel, their Camera Mapping Ipas and now…
This is the exciting part, they have broken the sound barrier as far as render time goes. Average rendering time is under 1 min. on a P100!
Hi Mike, I jumped in here because I have worked with the product for several months. I'm sure Alex will add some comments of his own. Lee 1)Typical Workflow: a. Create Geometry b. Render background (all objects which are NOT refractive). You use this image as your background AND the…
Orlando contact Lynn Finch @ CADTEK. Lakeland contact Chris Murray @ DSM (Digital Systems Managment) Sorry I don't have phone numbers. The only reason I know of these is because I am originally from St.Petersburg. Lee
Won't be able to comment on MeshPaint fot another few days. I'm still wainting for my copy to come in the mail. Lee
I believe your version of Digimations Bubbles is the most current. There is another bubbles program with more flexability available from Black Box and sold through Schreiber/4Dvision. I have seen their first version of bubbles but have not had the oportunity to work with the new R2 version.
I can't wait for Michelle to come back and tell us who's wearing her tatoos' these days.
Can you send me a breakdown of the names of the mesh parts and their associated bones? I can probably help you with this problem but I need more info. Feel free to send me the project file.
Check the file itself to asure it is spelled hand_i.axp. All files with the .AXP extension will show up in the list box BUT without the " _i " some routines won't execute. Give this a try. Lee

Greg, Am preparing to hook up 2 VTR's with a PVR and an editing switcher. Will I need a sync generator for this type setup? Lee (the butcher)
It was 50 coppies sold at Siggraph and this powerful addition will KEEP 3DS on top.
You might want to send some mail to Aleksey. We wanted to finish Refraction Mapping first before moving on to Aurora Mapping. Should be very soon.
Aurora Mapping isn't available yet, but you are right, this would do the trick.
Why not create the roadway with lofted mapping coordinates and then use a material to stripe the road?
In their "glory days" Led Zeppelin was the greatest rock band ever. Now that I am burned out on Stairway to Heaven and can't listen to that album anymore should I be able to take it back and trade it in on a brand new one?
>>program like the one you described would put 3DS at the top
Sounds like a great idea Alan. Aleksey had spent some time explaining to me why programming for NT will be much easier. I am told that once the MAX Toolkit hits the street we will see wonderful stuff comming from all over the place. IPAS will no longer be a…
