Gary; Sorry about your problem. However after a restless night of obsessing about my problem, I got up, turned on the computer, and put a floppy in my external floppy (a Fujitsu that I use with Amia to access double density drives on the Emplant Mac emulator). Lo and behold,…
Michael; I had occasion to try Migraph again after I sent you the message about my experience with it. I was using a flat bed scanner however. With scanning resolution of 400 dpi, I got a much better result very quickly. My previous experience was with the Golden Image hand…
Hilary; There is no need to set the image size before loading. The "set up" panel controls your display parameters-how you see your graphic on the IM/RT screen while working on it. The important parameter is that for saving your graphic after you have processed it. Once you lload your…
Steve; You mentioned File Manager for Windows. Have you seen or used DOpus on the Amiga. Quite good! Hank
Hilary; You might try "Set image aspect and DPI" in the Clipping subsection of the Process section. You can scale your image, or any part of it,and adjust the resolution of your image, or any part of it. Before clicking on the "Set image…", select the top button for whole…

I need some help. My system is: A2000, GVP G 040 @33, 16meg on board, 2 meg chip ram DKB, 2 int. HD's,(Maxtor 213andQuantum 500, daisy chained to internal GVPScsi port). WB 2.1. Also have Picasso II,Emplant, OpalVision and VLab boards; Bernoulli 150 external, connected to externalGVPScsi port and Sony…
< I guess the only way to put aside your fears would be to mail the author direct, as he would be able to answer your technical questions (which I cannot unfortunately). If you need his address, I can email it to you.> Thanks Andre. I would appreciate it. Hank
Bill; I guess its time to punt-call the technician at the Mac dealers. Sorry I can't be of help. Hank
Christian; Thanks for the info. Hank
Michael; I have version 1.4 which I believe is the latest. I am not thrilled with its fuctionality. I think much more work needs to be done on it to make it reliable. I find that when using the recommended scan resolution (with a flat bed scanner), I have to…
Andre; I guess I can understand the author's feelings about this, but I, for one, like to convince myself that a program works on my system and is all that it is "advertised" to be. Of course, you are right, inasmuch as I will not go broke sending in the…
John; My cd0:, which is in my devs/dosdrivers directory, has identical parameters to yours (except for unit number-mine is 4). When you say "AsimCDFS.device is not used in your dosdriver entry", do you mean it should not be in that directory? The Asim installer places it there. I appreciate your…
On my unit in the rear, there is a two way switch to control termination on or off. Is yours an internal drive? If so, I would think the termination might be controllable thru software but am not sure. Don't you have any documentation with the unit? Hank
Don; This info comes from the single page instruction sheet from Village Tronic, included with the 3.1 upgrade kit. It says that if your system includes a 2620 or 2630 accelerator card, you need to check the version of the ROM chips at positions U4 and U5. If they are…
I run an Apple 300 CDROM from my Emplant scsi port and the manual suggests termination to be on. Hank
Andre; The "demo" of Magic Workbench 2.0 is more of a sampler than a true demo. I downloaded it and there are only sample screens, no program. Hank
Sorry, I don't want to sell them separately. Asking price for the "whole shebang" is $65 plus shipping/handling. BTW, I have 2.1, not 2.0.
Thanks for the info, Paul. Hank
#CD-ROM problem
Message #185385
Hi; I have: A2000, GVP G 040 @33, 16meg on board, 2 meg chip ram DKB, 2 int. HD's,(Maxtor 213andQuantum 500, daisy chained to internal GVPScsi port). WB 3.1. Also have Picasso II,Emplant, OpalVision and VLab boards; Bernoulli 150 external, connected to external GVPScsi port and Sony 300 CD-ROM. My…
I think it will but it will probably need to have one of the pins jumpered. The instructions describe it. Hank
Yes, just upgraded to 3.1 and the chip is in perfect condition.I also have the disks and manuals and have been planning to sell as a package. Are you interested in the latter?
Thanks for the response, Paul. Is the titling capability very limited? Would there be any incompatibility with a PicassoII card? Hank
I installed 3.1 today. I, too, tried to avoid erasing everything and just installed over 2.1. So far, everything seems to be functioning well except for my cd=rom. I have deleted AsimCDFS. I can't get my system to recognise a cd-rom disk, although I can access it on Emplant. Tomorrow,…
Paul; Is there any similarity in function of VLab-M to either the Video Toaster or OpalVision (with the not-forthcoming video processor)? In addition to creating anims, can one do "video processing"? Must one use the Retina board with it or can one use another graphics card such as PicassoII? Sorry…
#Installing WB 3.0
Message #185118
I think I get the picture. Some of my utilities (Pagestream 3.0, Final Writer, Studio DS, Annotate, Migraph OCR, ExpertPrep, MUI) are in my Sys/utilities drawer. In my Sys/tools drawer, I have Quarterback and Quarterback Tools, GVP Info, DiscSalv, etc.) I guess I will have to remove these programs and…
I, too, am less than totally happy with Emplant. My main reason for buying it was to run graphics programs. I have a Picasso II, which Jim Drew personally told me at the last Toronto WOCA, would work beautifully. Photoshop is slow. I keep getting multiple pointer and other images…
Do I perceive a sense of deja vu? Hank
Are you implying that one does not have to stay with GVP simms for use on GVP accelerator boards? Hank
Too bad, Paul. Is that a commentary on the direction in which our civilization is moving? Hank
Paul; I'd appreciate your comments on the VLab Motion Board when you get it going. I have the fondest memories of Candlewood. Is the Danbury Fair still in existence? Hank
I'm in northwestern New Jersey…the fresh air, rural, treed and hilled section of the state where there are deer on your lawn, bear in the woods, and no industrial odors. I have been using my current system for about 5 years. It includes twin Panasonic industrial editing decks and a…
Thanks for the info. I'm really a novice, amateur video buff and would like to learn more, at least before going into debt for more sophisticated equipment. I am at ground zero now with VHS editing set-up (Panasonic twin decks and controller, awaiting Opal VideoProcessor). Incidentally, I was born and…
Jonathan; Thanks for your reply. Is it true, then, that I simply have to download the movie or anim from one of the Mac forums, and load it into one of these programs, running on the Amiga? I have an A2000, '040 @33 with a Picasso board, and lots of…
Can these actually play Mac Quick time anims or movies? Do the Mac files have to be modified first? Hank
Steve; Although I agree with these knowledgeable Amigaphiles that the Amiga books are currently hard to come by, I would still think it is worth a try to call two or three Amiga dealers to see if they have any books in stock, such as "Mastering Amiga Dos 3" (if…
PMFJI but doesn't IAM, Dale's company, sell it. That's where I got mine. Hank
PMFJI, Henry, but will such a system produce D2 equivalent output? What format Camcorder and VCR are needed for D2 output? Hank
Thanks Lieven. I do have DOpus and will do as you suggested. Hank
DiskSalv patch
Message #180732
I just downloaded the patch for DiskSalv3. The instructions in the file description suggests the format, "DSPatch " where dir is the directory in which DiskSalv3 is located. I tried to do this and got a message, "file not executable". Can anyone help me with this. Thanks; Hank
OK, Archie; I'll try it. Thanks; Hank
Sorry, Chris; I saw your message to Michael Shea after I sent you the request. Thanks; Hank
I usually use the 24 bit display but I'll try the 8 bit to see if there is much improvement in speed.
Christopher; PMFJI but I would very much appreciate your posting the address and phone number of Quantum. Thanks; Hank
Thanks for the advice. Hank
Thanks for the answer. Will do. Hank
Gary; Thanks for your comments. How is the speed of the Toshiba with Mac emulation? What drive program are you using for it? Hank
Mike; Your reply is appreciated. Do you run Emplant also? Hank
cd-rom
Message #179867
I currently run a Sony (Apple) 300 cd-rom. Does anyone have any experience with triple or quad speed cd-roms on their Amiga? Hank
Archie; I appreciate your helpful suggestions and will try them out. The hard drive I have my system and Photoshop running from is a Maxtor 213. I have a Picasso II board with 2 MB of ram on it. Hank
Ben; I have Imagemaster R/T Version 1, revision 06. Should I upgrade? I am a registered user. Thanks; Hank
