Rick, personally I was greatful to be cut out of the AW photo. Coincedental indeed – hehe – see what you missed by not coming up to AmiExpo (it wasn't a long drive or flight for you!). Marlene

Ron, let's not start the CIS copyright thing again – that we don't agree on. One last time for the record: CIS only copyrights the format, feel, flavor whatever of its' Data Libraries – not the software uploaded here. The only time something uploaded here is exclusively on CIS is…

Don, ASDG's 8-meg board uses less amps then CBM's 2-meg board – I think it uses 2 amps (perry will correct this if I'm wrong). Marlene
Bob, re: Amigaterm make sure your set at 8-n-1. Most files here are ARCed so you need ARC.EXE (DL4) and ARC.HLP (DL1) to remove the file(s) from the ARChive. Read USER.HLP in DL1, if that doesn't answer your questions let me know. Marlene
Thanks for the info Bill, I was close . Marlene
Merry Christmas to you too…Marlene
You did, and my RRD always recovers. Before I put that in it never recovered. Marlene
Robert, set the date and time with the AmigaDOS DATE command and hit RETURN – then type RTClock /W – that writes the date/time to INSIDER's clock – after that RTClock will give you the correct date/time. Marlene
John, yes it's the keyboard with the 500 Fkeys. Maybe you can check with CBM or your rep for us and find out if there is a way to upgrade. BTW, it works perfectly with Transformer. Marlene
Don, my friend loves it – he says the feel of it is much better than the keyboard we presently have. All I know is the size of the keyboard is the same and the function keys are the same style as the A500 Fkeys. I'll try to get more…
Hi and welcome to the Amiga forum. Some good pgms for kids are: "KidTalk" by First Byte (a talking word processor), "Discovery Trivia" (lots of fun and you can put in your own trivia questions), "MathTalk". On the game side, FaeryTale Adventure and Earl Weaver Baseball are great fun for…
John, a friend of mine just got a new CBM keyboard for his A2000 that fixes all bugs related to running in the ibm environment. Marlene
Daniel, group trade-in? The official trade in is $1000+A1000=2000. Some dealers may do better on this deal (less than $1000+A1000). Check with some local dealers and see what they offer. Marlene
Welcome to the Amiga Forum John – if you have any questions relating to using the forum etc.. don't hesitate to ask. There are lots of help files in DL1 with .HLP extenders that explain how to get the most out of the forum. Marlene
Don, speaking of keyboards – a friend of mine has just upgraded his 2000 keyboard for a new CBM 2000 keyboard that fixes the problems of running things like Transformer on the 2000. Have you heard of this? Wonder if CBM will offer present 2000 owners the option of trading…
Brian, somewhere along the way you've assigned copy to a place that copy doesn't reside. For eg. if in your startup-sequence you've copied df0:c/copy ram: then you need to assign ram: as the place to look for the copy command. You may be doing the assign to ram: before the…
My pleasure Roger. Marlene
Welcome Al, congrats on the 2nd drive – it will definitly make your life easier. Don't think of your questions as wacky – it takes time to learn any system and the Amiga is complicated. We're here if you need us. Marlene
Paul, I don't remember what problem you were having – how about re-stating it and we'll see if anyone has a solution. Marlene
Don, I'll double check – but I'm not sure it was the REP but CBM who told both of these stores about dropping the 8088 card. I'll get back to you and let you know. Marlene
Don seems to have answered your question – let us know what happens. Marlene
Roger, there have been a few solutions here – but the one that Perry recommends and that I use with no problems is to have run system/SlowMemLast as the very first thing in your startupsequence (note: even before mount vd0:). Try it and let me know if you still have…
Russ, Oxxi 76367,1704. Digital Creations isn't a member here at least I can't find them. Marlene
Pat, leave a msg to Perry Kivolowitz 73170,2663, he's president of ASDG Inc. and should be able to answer any and all questions. Marlene
Al, easiest solution would be to put MOVIE on the same disk – however if you don't have room then try MOVIE volumename etc.. What this means is that you are addressing the disk that the files are on by its' name so if your disk is named Fred then…
Sure would like to know why they've told 2 stores in my area that they are dropping it AND that the 286 card will be ready in January. Marlene
Impressive huh! hehe Marlene
Al, leave the ARCed file in ram: and CD to the disk you want the file unARCed to and type unarc ram:file – the files contained in the archive will be on the disk while the file in ARCed format remains in RAM:. Marlene
Bob, sorry for leaving out R.S.N. – it wasn't intentional, I left a msg to Russ pointing him to your msg. Marlene
David, I'll find out what the story is the store is The Byte Shop in Merrick, NY. Glad your card finally came in. Marlene
Russ, see msg #96944 for another vendor's ID. Marlene
Gabrielle, unfortunately there is nothing you can do once a disk is formatted – all previous data is lost. If you accidentally delete files from a disk you can recover them with pgms like DiskDoctor or Disksalv – full recovery only if you haven't written to the disk since you…
Welcome to the Amiga Forum Jim, the PD and shareware pgms for the Amiga are exceptional and we have tons of them in our data libraries. I suggest you start by reading some of the help files in DL1 they all have .HLP extenders. Ask as many questions as you…
Shalom, DL9 ASSIDE.ARC
Russ, there are many vendors who are members of the Amiga Forum. Off the top of my head here are a few and their User ID's. Aegis Development 76067,2500 Metadigm 76046,3004 Gold Disk 73567,2104 Electronic Arts 76004,237 WordPerfect Amiga 72447,3427 Michigan Software 72416,2051 Byte by Byte 76566,2622 Microsmiths 74216,2117 ASDG…
Brian, it's not CIS who approves files, they are tested and made public by the sysops. Turn around time is almost always within 24 hours of the upload (and usually less except for times when we are swamped with big uploads). Marlene
DJ, Byte-by-Byte has just come out with an expansion box for the A500 that will even allow 2000 cards. The A500 is very new – but I think that ultimately there will be a great deal of expansion products for it as there will be more A500s than any other…
Paul, I'll change it for you. Marlene
Well said Dave, why people would complain about a $14.95 upgrade is beyond me. Marlene

Tom, I believe that NewTek is making a device that will allow you to connect FutureSound to a 2000 – call them for exact info and availability. Marlene

Welcome back! Sounds like you did alot of incredible things – how will you ever be able to return to the mundane world of everyday living? Marlene
Arc Problem
Message #96757
Dick, do you have ARC in your c directory or in the directory where the file to be deARCed resides? And just in case – you're not putting parentheses around the filename right? (you just used it for accent in your msg). Ok, lets say you have ARC in C,…
Lew, there are dealers that are selling the 2000 at a discount, I've heard of it as low as $1395 (i think that is mail order) and CBM will soon be their own REPS and will not allow mail order houses to sell 2000's. Though Don is right about them…
Tim, I've enjoyed your column a great deal and am sorry to hear that you won't be doing it anymore. I am happy though that Don WILL be doing it! Hope the changes to your personal life are good ones and I look forward to the articles that you will…
I thought the Taj Mahal was one too? Guess I'm wrong. Marlene
Donovan, read USER.HLP in DL1 – if you have any questions after that let me know. Marlene
