My mother still has the Vic-20, 13" TV and tape drive I used back in High School. She collects and stores antiques, and I asked her to keep it for me… maybe I can make a bundle on it in 20-30 years…
So what exactly do you do with your Amigas? I am getting out of the service (Army) and after doing some contract work in the middle east, I _was_ looking forward to having enough spare capital to get the VT and try to make money… from what little I do…
Of course, I was making a sick joke. Correct me if I'm wrong, but one of the major reasons most of us bought Amigas is because they can do what they do much cheaper than other platforms. No, I honestly do not believe either will happen – I am haviing…
2000 with an 030 from MicroBotics – thoses guys are great, btw. I bought the accel. card about 8 months ago, didn't use it for the last 7, put in the 2000 I just acquired and found out it didn't work. Couldn't find the receipt for the card, so I…
You want a good ol' sick laugh? Over in the CBM forum under 'news', there is still an offer to 'power up' to an Amiga 500.

I know this is stretching quite a bit, but is there ANY, ANY chance NewTek could acquire and continue the Amiga line in light of recent revelations?
She has been to a computer store… and like so many other compu- illiterates, has become enamoured with the 'package' deals like AST and Packard Bell. "I don't have to understand computers to use one of those" she says. "!" I say back.
One positive aspect of your argument is that BECAUSE no one is really interested (I think some may think otherwise), there will be fewer bidders when C= is taken to the chopping block. Fewer bidders means lower auction prices, right? Thereby greatly increasiing the chances that a 'friendly' organization with…
Oh, yeah, right – NOW that the company is out of business EVERYBODY wants to buy an Amiga… I think some of C='s business sense has worn off on us, guys.
We all got really p*ssed at C= execs and liquidated them in a huge vat of acid (g). Seriously, you must know by now. –> have a hanky ready and look around if not.
That last idea was truly sick and twisted (g). Maybe we could have an on-line telethon. We could use funds thus generated to either a) buy the company ourselves or b) giive the money to NewTek if the promise to buy the company.
Well… I didn't give you the whole story (sorry) – her roommate is looking for a game machine and likes some of my IFF files, so the interest in art is there, but it's a decision they both have to like… all of this is machs nix now, though. I…
Sounds like a reasonable attempt to stop unnecessary phone calls. Hey, now that C= is dead, all those developers who constantly tantalized us with hints of what was going on in the experimental Amiga kitchen can come clean… were they really working on an A5000?
Now, wouldn't it be silly if C= went away and no one ever noticed?
Here's an idea – maybe we could all visit the NewTek area of the Amigavendor forum and barrage them with requests to buy, at a minimum, C='s tech copywrites. Logic would tend to indicate that they are probably already considering this, yes? Also, is anyone out their planning a 12-step…
Being entirely unfamiliar with bankruptcy procedures for corperations, what are the odds that 'someone' will buy enough of the assets to continue making Amigas?
Well, if we can't get enough $upport from our fellow Amiga FANatics, we could go on the cheap and hire a disgrunted ex-mailman, who happens to be one of the few remaining Koresh clan, and tell him the Anti-christ is a top C= exec and a devout atheist with a…
Maybe we can buy a small tactical nuke from North Korea and hope the new management at C= will put the resulting insurance money to good use….
I feel as if a close relative just died – like a slow, stupid, some- what retarded but nonetheless beloved step-brother, who'd been warned and warned by those who loved him despite his faults to STAY AWAY FROM THAT CLIFF will no longer have to worry about it… Gee, do…
What? C= dead? I must have missed something somewhere…
Yeah, know what you mean there – I've got a friend close to completing her Chemist degree, very intelligent – but I can't convince her to buy an Amiga because she wants a 386 system. For someone as intelligent as she, it seems a tradgedy that she is adamantly disinterested…
I would like everyone in this forum to know the GREAT support I have received from Paravision (MicroBotics new parent co.). Approx. 9 months ago, I purchased a VXL*30 accel. card for my A500, which showed its appreciation by immediately breaking down for an unrelated reason. I put off getting…
Well, providing I can be a good *SALESMAN* to my wife, I'm gonna get one… let's face it, most Amiga owners are fanatics who would be penniless from spending all our paychecks on Amiga stuff if our wives (or husbands, as the case may be) didn't protect us from ourselves……
Wouldn't that just burn MacOwners everywhere if they knew:))
Thanx – I was wondering why MicroBotics wasn't listed in AW's manu list any more (starting to worry, actually!) I called Paravision and they DO have my card, btw.
So can you do EVERYTHING that an Apple can? What about IBM stuff?
Yeah, I'm starting to believe that meself… been reading some back issues of AW, saw the ads. You have an emplant board?
The president of the company? Dang… went straight to the top thru the backdoor while walking around blind on that one. Shows how much I _don't_ know…
I haven't been following this conversation, but happened upon it while browsing thru. I'm interested in getting an AMAX-II+ card, but have been wondering about the Emplant (having seen ads in AW) SO, what is the difference, pros and cons of both? Do they offer true compatibility?
#Get it yet?

Did you guys (or gals, as the case may be) get my VXL*30 in the mail yet? (from Garry Nelson, 1409B Oleander Pl., Honolulu, HI 96818)
I DEEPLY apologize for not calling you this weekend. I had a serious family problem come up late Thursday afternoon, and was unable to get access to my computer at work until today. I hope you have not sold the B-Bay unit yet… my wife wants to know if the…
Well, it's dated 1985 for one… the bottom of the motherboard and some of the chip connections look like the salt air corroded them. I didn't start having SERIOUS problems until I installed the 2.04 rom and a VXL*030 board, though. The computer would guru after about 20-30 min, and…
Sorry, meant MORE power than I have now….
I forgot to ask you if you might happen to know anyone with a rev 5+ 500 motherboard so I can fix my little beastie…
Well, if it gives my 500 the expansion power of a 2000, I'll take it… please E-mail me your phone # and we'll discuss how you want your $ sent. – Garry ps. I know you said S&H is included, but are you aware that I live in Hawaii?
You still want $80 for it? if so, I'll pay S&H…
$80 for the 500. – Garry Nelson
What about the B-Bay? – Garry
Howdy, I am VERY (as in $very$) interested in this deal. Is the A500 still for sale? I live in HI but will pay for S&H +$10 for your trouble. – Garry Nelson (808) 836-1727 or 655-2456
Pardon my ignorance, but what is a screamer? -Garry
Actually, at first I was kind of frustrated – wasn't aware of the price difference – but I checked the Amigauser forum and saw a 4000/40 for sale for $1700! Gads, I hope someone is selling for that low when I'm ready to buy! It didn't have a hard drive,…

Well, seems like I've won a pyrrhic victory – my wife will let me buy the 4000 IF I spend an ungodly amount on some crazt purchase of her choice FIRST. Looks like I'll have to wait until Feb (income tax return time) to do anything… I think Redmond is…
Well… I wish I could convince my wife to let me have the dough for the 040 version. I think I can squeeze her for the 030. You'd really take an A2000 over an A4000/030? I'm looking a couple of years down the road here… Say, any word from the…
I'm wondering… would it make more sense to buy an A4000/030 and start over, buy an A2000 and get stuff a lot cheaper? (Thoughts such as these make my wife groan:) What do you think? -Garry
I think the cheapest way to fix this problem is to get an A2000. -Garry
Everett – Yes! and you sound like a salesman:) -Garry
ps. Not only do I not have a VOM (Voltage meter, right?), I'm afraid if I borrow one from a friend and screw up the board, not only will I not get a refund (and have to deal with the subsequent verbal abuse from my bitchy wife). but the guy…
Karl – Not only do I not know any frinedly techs on this island (Oahu), but now I have "hair-raising" advice to ponder… seriously, barring sloppy hand-eye coordination, is there a possibility of overload in the wrong places if I adjust the power supply myself? Of course, this is all…
Redmond: SN# v-315795-R200, without FPU, FPU clock, or 32 wide RAM. I have disconnected the external floppy and tried operating without the modem and A590 hooked up, same result in all configurations. I haven't messed with the clock on the board or my motherboard. I've also tried switching my 1.3…
How do I adjust the power supply? thanx, Garry ps. I shouldn't be overloading it – I disconnected all power-dependent devices.
