#121750 #Targa 2000 vs. PAR Message #121866
Kevin, Are you with Computer Support Assoc. in Santa Monica? I seem to recall that you're a Truevision dealer. If so, please give me a price on the Targa 2000. Thanks! Scott Lawrence
#121748 #TARGA 2000 Message #121865
Ian, Thanks for the input. I'm debting between the Targa & the PAR. At this point I'm leaning towards the 2000, although almost everyone online here seems to be partial to the PAR! (I suppose the price difference plays a major factor). Are you using the Targa for Rotoscoping? What…
#121627 #Targa 2000 vs. PAR Message #121733
Kevin, Thanks for the info. Am I correct in assuming that full screen video output isn't possible w/ the 2000? Are you a Targa dealer? Thanks again, Scott
#121560 #Targa 2000 vs. PAR Message #121599
Kevin; From what I can gather re: Targa 2000 vs. PAR, the Targa is far and away a better investment (even though it's more costly) yet I haven't seen any reviews comparing the two. Are there any drawbacks to the Targa? Does the Targa do everything the PAR does &…

Targa 2000 vs. PAR Message #121477

#PAR Sound Add-on? Message #121128
I remember reading a post a few months ago regarding a PAR sound add-on/daughterboard. Is anyone familiar with this product? When will it be available? Who manufactures it? Thanks! Scott Lawrence
Video Message #121123
Dave, Just re-read your old post from June regarding Cineworks & coincidently I just installed a Cineworks system for a friend who's a producer at Universal. What did you think about Cineworks, assuming you had a chance to check it out? (I have mixed feelings about it myself). I'm currently…

#104717 3dstuio cd rom Message #105183
Are you running ACAD under Windows? 3DS is quite processor & memory intensive, so I don't think it's in your best interest to even attempt to play music on your CD-ROM drive while running 3DS…it will just slow you down! -scott

#104398- 3dstuio cd rom Message #104498
Joseph: I have a Toshiba 3401 CD-ROM drive also & use it w/ 3DS & ANI Pro with no problem. It's not clear to me what you mean when you say… ** Does the drive actually stop working, or do you mean that you cannot access files on the CD?…
#103953 telecourses? Message #104030
** Wow! That's exactly what I've been looking for! It sure gets tedious creating subliminal geometry the "old fashion way". Do you happen to know how much this routine sells for? Thanks, -scott

#103774 #telecourses? Message #103858
Dave, Are these "telecourses" actually broadcast, or are they video tapes for sale? What's the deal?? How about a subliminal course in 3DS (for those of us who sleep–once in a while)? -SL
#103787 DPS DR-2100 Message #103857
Robert, I think you'll be very happy with the PAR. -scott btw, be sure & get the Micropolis HD (Although sold as package for Amiga (R.I.P.), Seagate is not recommended due to recalibration/speed).

You're a regular philosopher, aren't you? Oh, well, I'm on a spending spree this month anyway, so what cards would you recommend? (Or would you trade?) ;-< -scott

Thanks, Martin! Sounds like a product I'd be interested in learning more about. Best of all, the company's local for me. -scott

The only problem now is that the monitor makes my damn graphics card near obsolete! I've got to be the only idiot ever to buy a Volante Warp 20/20-2. I'll beat you're thinking you never even heard of it, right? It got great reviews (but I'm not sure why), they…

#103700 #Video Monitors Message #103720
I bought one yesterday & I'm very pleased with it. Here's the scoop: IDEK Visionmaster 17"FST, .26mm dot pitch, 1280×1024 res @ 80Hz, color matching, auto scan, anti-glare, "green", 3yrs/3yrs incl. all for $799! Sure, there are better monitors, but for the money you really can't beat it.

#103550 #Best Video? Message #103607
I have an Indeo. It's O.K. for multimedia & was the hot item when it hit the market about a year or so ago, as it was the first consumer video card that could compress on the fly & play back 30 fps (but get out your magnifying glass, folks!)…
#103495 Video Monitors Message #103606
Are you sure you don't want to trade? 😉
#103448 Video Monitors Message #103605
Yes, I know…"Awesome monitor, Killer Price!" In spite of the corny ad, I broke down & bought one today (Idek) & I'm very impressed. -SL
#103381 Video Monitors Message #103449
Thanks, Richard! I decided on the Idek…The quality is great & a better value than NEC. -SL
#103029 Video Monitors Message #103245
Doug: I noticed you're using NAV-CIS (Dvorak's navigator) as opposed to C-Serve's Navigator. Have you compared the two? -scott- P.S. I plan to pick up the VisionMaster tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.
#103190 #Video Monitors Message #103244
I believe Evan is implying that the IDEK is a $1500 "value". It retails for just $799, has a lower dot pitch than even the NEC 5FGP (a $1500 monitor) @.26mm (the NEC is .28mm), and includes 3 years parts & labor, it's "green", MPRII, 80 Hz, 1280×1024, color matching,…
#103163 Video Monitors Message #103243
Thanks for confirming my thoughts about the IDEK. It seems to be the best value in a 17" monitor for under $1000.00, and comparable (favorably) to those selling in the $1,500 range, yet it retails for 1/2 that price… I plan to purchase one tomorrow!
#102809 This is the Picture Message #102998
FYI, Have you heard the last live version of J. Richman's "I'm Straight"? Sample lyrics… "I saw you walkin' past the COMPUTER STORE with Hippie Earnie… Well, I'm here to tell you that I'm straight & I want to take his place!" -SL
Video Monitors Message #102996
Hi, Evan: Sounds like you've done some thorough research into monitors. I'm in the market for a 17" & I'm having a tough time deciding between the IDEK, MAG & ViewSonic 17" . They sell for relatively the same price but, naturally, no store stocks them all so it's tough…

#101590- Syncing FLC's with sound Message #102071
Dear Visitor: The simpliest way to do this would be to create a script with Autodesk Animation Player for Windows, where you can add .WAV or MIDI files to your .FLC. For more versatility (and accuracy) try Adobe Premier for Windows. -scott lawrence P.S.- Join the forum!
Tell me about your MIDI setup. What modules/synths do you use, etc.? Where are you located? Thanks, -scott lawrence
