Greg, With Dave's limited description the symptom sounds like my old problem that was caused by using the improper rendering driver. This problem of "too many files open….. etc" is just one of several "bugs" that will show up if the rendering driver is not the correct one for RDPADI.…
#EISA SCSI problems
Message #43082
Gary: Remember the question I had last week re. the EISA SCSI cache ctrl. and large file paging locking up? Well my friend just called me and said tech support at Phar Lap just told him this is a known bug or incompatibility of pharlap virtual control memory manager and…
< it it becomes a clock-tripled 486/99?> or it at least performs like one! warm, hot, hot snap,.. crackle……….POP!
Yes, very small vertical market, but it has been steady income for masters produced several years ago. I tried this a few years ago but hardly made enough to pay expenses. Too many amateurs in this U/W video business. When you get down here give me notice and maybe we…
Good luck and I hope you finish first! I'll be thinking about you when I'm 185 feet deep videoing the Hendley's castle dungeon of the Peacock III cave. NOT!! (No sharks down there just ones own stupidity)
Hey Angelo– Is it still true that Hi8 lacks the ability to do video follows audio insert editing? Can the 9850 record audio and then insert video WITHOUT screwing up the audio? That was always the drawback to HI8 format.– the lack of linear audio tracks independent of the video.…
Don't skip breakfast- most important meal of the day! A little danger never hurt anybody. I'd skip dinner and the midnight snack for a more healthy diet.
I'll ditto that request! I use mannequin and its a little dis-jointed.
You're going to love my solution! I recently had my targa monitor blow a tube and wasn't prepared to spend the necessary $$$$ to duplicate my mitsubishi 13". I started shopping around and found a Panasonic 13" data grade CGA monitor for $75.00 at a used computer pawn shop. There…
David, this tool is already available. Read the classified ads in pro mags.g
Thank you! Sorry if I had to do that to get response (commitment) from the IPAS KID! I'll sit tight waiting for your next release. Now I'm off to the Library sections to hunt for your swirl.ixp demo.
OK with me, but I think you mean Betacam snob, or are the others not really video? I've run into D2 snobs, D1 snobs, 1 inch snobs, and MII snobs. Wasn't my piece on the RUSH show. Some person from CADlab, Inc. submitted it. I just thought it was a…
Copyrights vs. licenses
Message #41433
I agree with your last comment before your software or something cut you off. Neither of us are copyright attys. not that they would know a yes/no answer either. That's why these things are decided in courts. Don't feel that just because you write out a contract that it becomes…

Yea, I got the letter, two of em in fact, but it stipulated only Betacam SP would be accepted. I don't do Betacam SP yet so I threw the letters in the can. Have you seen that RUSH LIMBAUGH – Clinton 3Ds animation? now that was cute!

#Rush Limbaugh Animation!
Message #41426
Congrats! Just read your email and had to go downstairs to the old time machine and rewind RUSH's show from last night. Looked good! Did you render your animations in segments or in one long shot? 3600 fields is a lot of HD space.

I'm interested too but could you define RTFM? g. g. Maybe if you could just spell it out for me.

Now you have the idea. I had a similar project I did last year for the title opening to a social awarness video where the script called for the title to form from tiny pieces of stone to resemble crack flying in from all over a city backdrop. With 3dsr1.0…
The gremlin is gone! I can't duplicate the problem now. Of course the prj file is fully developed so who knows what I was doing at the time that caused the memory requirement growth. I guess I should'nt worry about it because if it ever happens again I can just…
The RDPADI is set to RDPTPLUS.exp and RCPADI is set to RCPVESA.exp. Main display is set to VGA and Materials set to RCPADI. Rendering is RDPADI. Couldn't tell you what compiler was used for these drivers.
Jack: I won't tell what you said. He thinks quite highly of his ability with 3DS and Autocad.
No. I tried to use helix path then try to unroll it using many, many morph key frames. labor-labor. I gave up thinking there must be a better way. ie In the Lofter select path/helix and set for SD100,ED75,H0,Turns4. Remember, I want to create a basic mesh to adapt to…
Thanks Alan, but page 70 still doesn't explain why a 10 meg mem requirement file even started to page to the swap disk with 31 meg ram available. Could it be the test rendering to the fli file chewed up the extra mem.? A second thanks for the page 70…
Greg: The scroll concept is to create a mesh that can be used for any of the following with appropriate texture maps: 1. Scrolling credits that look like a roll of paper towels unrolling. 2. A spool of film with frames one after the other that unrolls. 3. A roll…
#Memory puzzler?
Message #40866
I observed recently while running many test renderings to fli that memory used went from 10660 swap 0 to 31072 swap 9172 during the keyframing adjustment sessions. The first frame time rendering went from 48 seconds 105 seconds. I saved the last prj file and took a break then came…
Great! I developed a page flip animation 3 months ago. Wish I had your IPAS then. Can you rotoscope to the pages? Need to develop a wire mesh to create a scroll effect. Like a roll of paper towels unrolling continuously from the top down and off the bottom of…
You are the third fix for this problem in a month. Maybe the installation manual could be better written. G.Y. take note for docs for future releases of 3DS. We certainly didn't get help from Diaquest or True Vision not to mention our dealers. Thanks for this forum!
Why don't you import the file into a paint program like photostyler and convert the image to the form you think you need.
Yes Yes but what do you have your RDPADI set to? There's where you will find the answer. I think.
James: Yes there is a simple answer to this. I had the exact same problem with a DQ50P VO-5850 and targa+ 16/32 in 512x486x24Bit. The targas get accessed from the hard drive but never reach the frame buffer. right? Here's what I did to fix it. I found I had…

Can anybody give me dealers or source on soft VTR? I need to get specs, price, etc. Email or call: Bu. Phone 800-940-6055 9-5 wkdays EDT FAX 904-354-4055 Thanks Don Landis
It may not make any difference but I thought you were rendering to null before. Also, M.Foster's suggestion about separate 3ds directories, one for intel one for weitek makes since to me; that's the way I did it. Wish I had the weitek again to see if I could replicate…
To Yost Gp. and Martin Foster: Thanks for your suggestions. I've been looking at the PVW-2800 which does have Y/C input. The BVW series does not per my spec sheets. PVW-2800 is affordable and I believe has DUB out to U-matic. Also, I've been told to check out Soft VTR…
#Response to Bug Fix.
Message #35672
Jack: Thanks for your response to my bug problems with out of memory. I already tried increasing the files to as high as 100, normally I run 50. My hard drive was initially installed using DOS 5.0 The ADI driver was an old targa driver. I replaced it with the…
#Thanks for help.
Message #35670
Greg: Thanks much for your suggestions to resolve my Disk to VTR problem. You were right! Even though I am using a second monitor for rendering I had the 3dadi.cfg set up to require PDADI to toggle with the space bar. I redid this so both NTSC and VGA monitors…
