While on the subject of PASCAL, did Metacomco go under? (That's the PASCAL I used to use many years ago…)
#Laser show sftwr?
Message #132893
I've had a little bit of experience on the laser end, but not the Amiga interface end. Meridith Instruments (Someplace in Arizona, they usually advertise in electronics hobby mags.) carries all the stuff you need to put together laser systems up to 3 watts (with proper liscensing). Although it's been…

Now a proud owner of an A1200… I can say my A1000 served me very well for over 7 years… which was why I bought a 1200 even with the recently discussed problems. Although not a great analogy… the Sinclair computer took a LONG time to die after they were…
My instruction book as a number for Missaugua, but it is a LD number and is no longer in service…. I don't suppose you have that number with you do you?
Another question now…. (Will I EVER shut up?) If I use PCMCIA memory as a "ram disk" will it still slow down the computer even though it is being adressed as a peripheral instead of FAST ram? Just curious…. Chris
Great… that's next ont he wish list…. right after they start making 2.5 drives again!
A1200 Help…

I'm using Terminus on an A1200, with my NTSC driver loaded… (640X200) I'm getting something that almost resembles a HAM artifact running down the left side of my screen… (It's the color of the titlebar at the bottom) it runs right down the edge of the text display area… Any…
Wouldn't you know it… they haven't left me the number to get info for my upgrade…. I may have to embarass them with a public post in the windows vendor forum! ;^]
How does it fare against some of the PC programs? IE: does it handle work related expns, medical deductions, earned income credit, etc? I'd much rather run native than have to PC-Task this out…
Thanks for the info…. I could have sworn at one point they dropped Ami for MAC development… I MIGHT have been mistaken!
My goodness… I have just learned a truckload… and I thank you immeasurably for the lesson on CHIP vs FAST ram… If I read this correctly, then just adding fast ram (32 bit) to my A1200 (which is here now, BTW…) will increase my CPU performance? Thanks again… Chris
Refering to the Aegis analogy… time to stop wasting our breath gripeing(SP) and sit back to watch the eventual fold…. Even if they prosper, it won't matter to us anyway…. plus it sounds like they released a bunch of "Better off withouts" anyway…. Out of this, someone moves onward and…
CP/M…. (I used to have the card for my 64!)
Kevin, I'm a bit confused on your previos post…. >>I can't answer your question about speed because I've not got any RAM onboard yet, so theres no speed increase (in fact it's slower than my A1200 was with a Power PC1204 4Mb memory expansion installed). Your saying that an '030…
The same thing happened to me… you need to run lha138.run by itself, and allow it to unpack… then use LHA from that….
Great! Thanks for the help….
I very well may have seen a misprint in AW… however I did call GVP and request information on the '040 that was mentioned in the article…. just incase that falls through however, do you like yours? Any downfalls, or benefits (other than faster). Also, how noticable is the speed…
I planned on it, however I am waiting for my A1200 to arrive first, I really hate DLing to find it won't run on my 1000 with 1.3! (I don't know what they problem is, it's only 8 years old! )
In other words, just like myself, the purchase of ComicSetter was complete waste of money, other than pure "Takes more brains than Lemmings" video game! I did eventually try to print, when an artist friend of mine drew up a few characters…. that's when the embarassment began!
I'm a bit fuzzy on the outcome…. but didn't Aegis also turn it's back on the Amiga earlier in the game, only to go guts-up?
Thanks… I'll try to look it up…. Chris
Jim, Thanks for the help…. I must also admit that being a Transactor reader from LOOONG ago, it makes me weak in the knees to have actually recieved programing type mail from you! (I realize the corniness of this, but it had to be said!) Thanks again, Chris
Build a housing? Won't a regular PC case work? Also in this month's AmigaWorld was an article on a company that has 3 pretty intriging products. (Actually 2 and a half). A case for the 500 and 1000 which adds Zorro2 compatibility. (I assume a keyboard as well) and a…
To repeat my favorite Old Days andecdote or downloading (at 1200 baud) and typing a letter on WordPerfect before the '386 had hit the streets, and way before the multi-tasking THEY promised worked….
I know of a single serial port card for the PCMCIA (Amigo Business Comp. PCMCIA Dual Serial Adapter) Also, the current AW talks about NakeD 1200 which allows the addition of 2 Zorro II cards, but I would assume those to be belly cards.
Have you heard anything on the A1230 Turbo Performance Series, which is supposed to hold an '040 processor? It seems a much cheaper alternative to the A4000 for the simple, non-video, applications of an Amiga. (Although I am curious as to how they cool that sucker…)
What kind of printer did you use it with? I used to use an old epson compat with little trouble… however when I'm using an HP LaserJet it will only only my pages to be about 2 X 2 inches, and won't accept anything bigger (IE: via the CUSTOM option,…
#AmigaBASIC interface

Can anyone refer me to some good references on designing a user inter face in AmigaBASIC? I'm writing a program, and I suck at user- friendly…. Chris – 73553,1670
We all need to sit back and watch at this point. If GD tech support bites like everyone says, do you really think they'll last in the PC market against heavy-hitters with REAL tech support?

While I have you here… at IS your tech support number? I have an ancient copy of ComicSetter I would like to upgrade if at all possible…
The best I've done so far is PC-Task and TurboTax for the PC! (I guess if they don't need it to make seaQuest, it doesn't get written anymore!
What are the chances that the prices we are seeing are a result of the "niche" the high-end systems have built for themselves?
See, I told you I was being simpilistic! Far be it for Commodore to make something easy.
Can I get an "Amen!"
But isn't the CD32 basically an A1200 with no keyboard, and a CD drive instead of a floppy? (I realize this is a bit simplistic, but…) That being the case, it seems as though a proper CD-ROM and a driver would be all that was required… Of course, things that…
Thanks for the help… taking care of it tomorrow.
Was it that bad? Is there any way for an A1200 to read CD32 discs?

I've been trying to use SoundEffect from FF941. It says it should run on 1.3 or above, with 1.5 meg or better (I have 2.5). I've set up the tool window with Info, yet when I run it the drive clicks away, my free mem bar on WB drops a…
According to this months AW, there is an expansion box now available for the A1000/500 which adds A2k and/or PC slots, with a 200 or 230w power supply. It also claims to be able to interface a toaster card as well…. It's in the new product area in the front…
Yea… wasn't there a DBMan program which compiled DBase 3 to the Amiga? Is SuperBase worth having? I'd kind of like to have a DBase since I plan on owning a fully functional Ami system (finally). What are the major differences between personal and pro?
Thanks… I'll track down the library ASAP!
Thanks… look for a message!
Being new to CServe, what is the fastest protocol I can use? (I'm currently using Terminus until I get my A1200 up and running for AP.) I've been using YModem-G since I have an error correcting modem, is that the best I can do? Thanks! Chris
Now, now… let's not get hasty! BTW, do you have GoldDisk's number? I have an OLD copy of ComicSetter which, when I recently tried to use it, found that it only supports a 2 X 2 (inch) page when using the WB LaserJet2 driver…. My manual has a number no…
Cash, and the wife are the two major reasons against getting one. It was an act of God practically to get her to agree on a 1200… (And if Quicken won't run under PC-Task I'm had!) I would love nothing more than to get one however… (I always seem to…
Thanks… I haven't used C-Serve since the old TERM program on my 22 column VIC-20! (Yep, been that long!)
I'll keep an eye out for it… but I doubt my patience will last!
Amazing what you find on the tube at unbelieveable hours of the morning isn't it! I think we'll probably see the MPEG as standard equipment before long… I can't think that CD-I is selling THAT well…. and the less the buyer has to dig into his wallet to do what…
Dynamix did a pretty good job on Stellar 7, but it lacked a lot of the really cool features in ArcticFox. The way S7 works, you can't really operate tactically… it's just B2theWall, blow them away… if you actually take your time, and think out your moves, you can do…
I've heard AutoPilot makes it rather painless (and a bit cheaper) to use CServe… although not having 2.0, I can't actually verify that… Judging from the number of "AutoPilot" taglines however, I'd say it works rather well.
