Hi Benny, I'm the author is the installer. The pop-up window saying "serial port in use" means that the connect script has detected another program currently using the serial port. Perhaps a fax program or something is sitting in the background? Also, it's possible this error could occur if you…

For starters, you'll need to look at what's changed in startup-sequence, and see what's different about rexx- and env:-related thingamabobs (paths, directory placement, etc.). After that, I would comment-out enhancements/utilities one-by-one in your startups (incl. WBstartup) and then try restoring original c: commands. -Chris CNR Media Services

I use AMITCP with NetFS for sharing drives between my two Amigas. So far, I have to swap AmiTCP directories with different setups in order to use the internet (I can use the internet, or NetFS, but not both). AmiTCP doesn't seem to like using more than one interface at…
#196957 #Help w/AmiTCP & PPP Message #197014
Hank, I basically have PPP/Amitcp running, but I seem to have a problem with some sites in Mosaic. The default home page (which is AMosaic's page) always seems to either refuse me or fail to connect as soon as I start AMosaic. I can access most other sites OK. I'm…

''The name is not yet decided, it will probably be something like "Commodore-Amiga" or "Amiga-Commodore" or the like. This company will (at least for the time coming) care exclusively for the Amiga model palette.'' Steve, If this new company is Amiga-only, then I feel the Commodore name should be excluded…

"Sounds to me like it's time to take your camcorder in and get that mic jack fixed! Hopefully, your camcorder's still under warranty, so you can demand they repair it…" It's not broken. I have two of them, and they behave the same way. Again, they work perfectly when using…

"Oh, and BTW–make sure your audio extension cable isn't draped over any electrical outlets or looped in odd ways…otherwise, it's acting as an antenna for whatever electromagnetic signals are in the air (which could ALSO be causing your static)." Nope.. the 'static' is definately due to the physical connection inside…
"The problem with producing the C64 isn't the computer. The 64 itself would be very cheap to produce. The problem is the 1541 disk drive which is not cheap to produce." How true! I didn't think of that (and I had a big ol' hippopotumus of a 1541 with bad…

"The C64 will be a cash cow for them. It should be easy to produce, and (Not-so-bold prediction) it will sell well in China." I don't think so. I can't see the Chinese adopting an English interface (the Japanese, perhaps tentatively, but not the Chinese). Though more expensive to make,…

Tim & Paul, I've run into the same problems with my TR-700's mic jacks. They work great with mic that already have mini plugs (i.e. these plugs were intended for mic use), but it seems like anything I try to plug in that has been adapted using a standard mono-mini…

Betacam certainly isn't "color-over" (it's not _that_ good); think of it as "color-on-par" . Color-under is just an expression that means the color signal is being squashed into a lower-than-normal bandwidth. That's why when you examine an image from a dub using two color-under formats, the color often looks like…

"It's not not the tape or the camra. It's the Hi-8 format. Hi-8 always generates a fair amount of noise in bright colors, especially red. I'm not sure if S-VHS is the same way." From my experiences, I'd say it was a limitation of the signal encoding used in both…

"Im thinking or regearing and getting the Sony VX3 three chip. I can find no 3 chip in SVHS in this price range otherwise I would consider it." Panasonic has the AG-3 (3chip SVHS-C), but from side-by-side comparisons, it's image is quite inferior to the Sony VX-3.

I don't think the AmigaDOS 'IF' command will work if you use the word 'then' with it (it doesn't need 'then', nor should you use it). Try just: IF $isitOK EQ 0 QUIT ENDIF Also, commands can't be separated on a single line with ';' like in ARexx. In AmigaDOS,…

IMHO, 3/4" is obsolete. The general consensus I've experienced is that S-VHS offers roughly the same quality and costs far less. What's more, many stations that had 3/4" are converting to Betacam-SP (more $$$) or S-VHS (less $); new affiliates (like FOX stations) are S-VHS based for editing and Hi8…
