ImageFX 2.1a Upgrade!!
Message #217089
Nova Design, Inc. Announces ImageFX 2.1a Upgrade For Immediate Release Friday, October 27, 1995 Contact: Bob Fisher Nova Design, Inc. 1910 Byrd Avenue, Suite 214 Richmond, VA 23230 804-282-5868 Richmond, VA – October, 1995. Nova Design, Inc. announced that it has an all new upgrade to their hit special effects…
They dropped the digitizer long ago. I don't know if they're in business otherwise. Kermit Woodall
ImageFX 2.1's AutoFX batch processor can animate many effects over a series of frames. Whether it animates them the way you want is another question. There is no substitute for learning a little ARexx as it's hard to make your work look like you want it without a little ARexx.…
Gary, Last time I had one of these digitizers it came with the IBM Software as well as the Amiga software. The Amiga software was much better. I don't believe anything, outside of their own software, supported it. Kermit
Chris, Your problem lies in rendering to the Picasso 800×600 display. This takes the image out of the Amiga's memory and puts it on the display card were it cannot be saved from. Use the FOREIGN render module instead and all will be fine. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
Chris, Can you specify all of the steps you go through in creating your files that turn out to be black? Also, is this the version of ImageFX that can on the CU Amiga magazine? Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
I don't know of any PD or Shareware solutions for you Mike, but our ImageFX comes included with PICT loading and Saving built right in. It handles the PICT format more completely than anything else you'll find. Quicktime, to my knowledge, isn't supported by anything completely on the Amiga due…
Carl, the Sphere function was added in 2.0 – there's a LOT more than just this one new feature though! 😉 Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
ImageFX 2.x can wrap images on a sphere with true raytraced lighting and all. The paint packages simulate this with a simple warp that compresses the image into a circle, not a sphere. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
Carey, the limitation of the Oil Paint effect was eliminated in 2.0/2.1 of ImageFX – it works on virtual memory now. If you've got 16mb, then telling ImageFX to use 8000kb (ie: 8mb) is more efficient and faster. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
Andy, you'll find a complete file in our vendor library in the Amiga Vendor Forum, Section 14, on ImageFX! Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
Our ImageFX product can do this for you. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
Brad, You'll find interlace/deinterlace options in ImageFX that will do what you want. If you run ImageFX with the switcher in the background it'll use the same, exactly the same, calls to load Framestores that the Toaster software uses. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
Brad, If you've done anything with ImageFX to tape or film we'd love to see it! Kermit Woodall
The upgrade cost is still only $124.95 total for ImageFX 2.1. Just give us a call at 1-800-IMAGE-69 to upgrade. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
Carlo, The full documentation for ImageFX comes when you upgrade to ImageFX 2.0 from that coverdisk. Upgrade is only good from Wizard in the UK. This documentation covers ARexx, the commands needed for IMP. However, you can learn a lot about ImageFX's ARexx by using the macro recorder to record…
Rick, ImageFX 2.0 can convert to/from FLI/FLC in whatever resolution you need. We also support MPEG creation and … well, a heck of a lot more! Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
Programmer Position
Message #185534
Programming Positions Available with Nova Design, Inc. Nova Design, Inc., developers of ImageFX and CineMorph, are looking for a few good programmers! The positions are for contract programming for specific projects. Applicants will need to have advanced skills in programming for the Amiga. Experience in graphics, development of software drivers…
ImageFX does not feature vector drawing tools like Corel Draw. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
I've used all the Epsons, many models of Sharp scanners and the HP IIxc as well. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, inc.
Mike, the best scanner I've used is the new Epson 1200c. It's supported by ImageFX 2.0. ImageFX can also do the masking and saving for you so you won't have to use another program. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
ImageFX is now from Nova Design, Inc. FYI. 🙂 Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
Epson got us the scanners for developing. HP is taking longer. We're looking at quite a few others as well. No competitive upgrades at this time. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
That sounds like the PDS (Planetary Data Systems) format. ImageFX 2.0 will load these.

We've been teasing Bob ever since he handed Dick Van Dyke one of our ImageFX 2.0 flyers at the show without recognizing him! Dick stopped by our booth later and Bob got him his ImageFX 2.0 upgrade on the spot. (yep, he's an ImageFX user too!) Bob said he was…
I transfer ImageFX created GIFs to PCs all the time. Its very reliable and easy. My 3000 handles double density and high density equally well, but the GIFs are rarely so large as to require a high density drive. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
GIF files are easily produced using ImageFX. Simply load any source image you want, render it to 256 colors, save as GIF. ImageFX has many controls for improving the GIF such as bi-directional dithering and error thresholds that prevent the "patterned" look that other packages give. Kermit Woodall Nova Design,…
Framestores aren't really IFF spec. They're a format similar in many ways to IFF, but were created by Newtek for their Video Toaster software. ImageFX 2.0 can translate these into any other format, including GIF, easily.
We'll be shipping by the 28th of this month! Right now we're taking preorders for upgrades to ImageFX 2.0 and they'll be shipped before all other orders. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
We don't sell direct, excepting upgrades, so you should contact your favorite local dealer or mail order house. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
ImageFX has always supported the Opalvision since it was released. You can preview, display and paint directly on the Opalvision board with ImageFX. In ImageFX 2.0 you can also exchange image buffers with Opalpaint even! Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
ImageFX 2.0 Information

NOVA DESIGN, INC. ANNOUNCES IMAGEFX 2.0 RICHMOND, VA., November 4th, 1994. Nova Design, Inc. officially announced the release of ImageFX 2.0 which will begin shipping towards the end of this month. ImageFX is the complete Amiga image manipulation system that combines image processing with amazing special effects technology and professional…
If you can wait a little, our new release of ImageFX 2.0 comes with a module that can create realistic lightning and electric arc effects! I'll be posting a complete features list very soon with more information. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
Jan, There is no real solution to rendering quicktime outside of the PC and Mac platforms as most of quicktime's compression/animation codecs are either patented or simply undocumented. Mainactor, a PD/Shareware program, has a very limited quicktime module tho. Our ImageFX can render out FLC animations and the upcoming 2.0…
JPEG is a lossy image compression format. What this means is that in all commercial JPEG implmentations there is some loss of color in the image when it is compressed to be stored as JPEG. This color loss allows the image to to reach much higher compression levels. The color…
Jim, there will be an upgrade path for all registered ImageFX owners. No worries. 🙂 Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
No, the Corel reference was only through someone else who told me about it. I'm sure it would be the most current one. The big "gotcha" with all conversions of Amiga anims to PC animations is that the PC programs mostly do lackluster conversions and often even fail to support…
Peter, You have several solutions open to you. Autodesk Animator Pro on the PC can load Amiga anims and convert them. I believe Corel has a converter as well. On the Amiga you need ImageFX. It can load Amiga images and animations and save them out to PC images or…
Framestore support is provided via Byrd's Eye Software's ToasterFX package which is an addon to ImageFX. This package provides the best framestore conversions and display options you could want. It was designed for ImageFX 1.5 however. You'll have to ask them about 1.03 level support. When you work on an…
Here are the specs for the GVP scanner cable for ImageFX. GVP-Style Cable: DB25 Male Centronics 36 Male (A500/2000/3000) (Scanner) 2: D0 2: D0 3: D1 3: D1 4: D2 4: D2 5: D3 5: D3 6: D4 6: D4 7: D5 7: D5 8: D6 8: D6 9: D7…
I don't recall who makes Photoworx. The PhotoCD compatible loader I mentioned is for ImageFX. The loader is here on CompuServe and works with ImageFX 1.5 from my tests. As far as I can tell it's PD, but I've never talked with the author yet.
I'm grab the scanner specs and post 'em here asap. ImageFX 2.0 is very nearly here now. Things have come together very nicely and we've added a LOT of new features and many surprises! Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
The easiest thing you could do would be to send your pictures off to any photo lab that handles Kodak PhotoCD imaging. Have them put it on PhotoCD then use any of the Amiga solutions for reading PhotoCD disks. Asimware provides one with their CDROM reader (you will need a…
The scanner cable specifications are in the README on the first disk. You can order the cable directly from Redmond Cables by requesting the "GVP" cable for ImageFX. Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
I believe REND24 will load HAM8 images then allow you to render them into the original HAM format. This program is shareware. You can also use our ImageFX package, written by the same author as REND24, to do this as well.
Brian, I understand MainActor, a shareware program, can read 8bit .AVI files. You aren't likely to see more than this as .AVI file compression schemes aren't documented, and in some cases are proprietary. Kermit Woodall
It's not my company. I just posted the message for them. Give 'em a call and find out! Kermit Woodall Nova Design, Inc.
