David, I am interested. How old is it and how much do you want? Jonathan
I am very interested in the 4000's. How many do you have and when can I get them?
Steve, Thats interesting. I've been in close contact with CEI about buying 4000's and they did not mention this. Even after failing to fill an order for a large number of 4000's. Jonathan

I am an end-user of the Amiga and I have an immediate need for a number of A4000/040's. If anyone knows where I can find a few, please leave a message or E-mail me. Thanks, Jonathan

#UNEXPECTED STATUS
Message #84763
I keep getting this message "GVP SCSI device: 006, unexpected status, $45/$49". I've changed boards, computers and hard drives and still get this message, usually followed by the message "DH1 has a read block (or checksum) error at block #####." (I think this is a false message because it doesn't…
Thanks, John. I got some good advice from GVP, but the utility you mentioned sounds like a good thing to have as well.
Yes, that seems to have cured the problem. I got a more detailed answer from your FAX back service. Thanks. Jonathan
#4008 Controller Problem
Message #76645
I have a problem with your 4008 SCSI controller. I can't swap removable media (SyQuest) without rebooting the computer. When I swap, Workbench displays an icon for the drive but labels it as NDOS or with random characters. I use FaaastPrep to format the disk. After low level format, it…
Wayne, Thanks again! $979 is much more to my liking. I'm heading for the magazine racks now, looking for Insight. Do you think the same drive would work on a PC with a SCSI board? Regards, Jonathan
Daniel, Thanks for the help. I also heard from Wayne Cole, who is running a Fuji on his Amiga. I guess Fuji will be my next stop. Regards, Jonathan
Wayne, Thanks! You're the first person I've heard from who is actually using an MO, of any kind, on an Amiga. Naturally the sales guy at Pinnacle said his drive absolutely would work on an Amiga, while the Fuji guy said that his drive absolutely would not work on the…
Did you have to do anything unusual with the Tahiti to get it to run? What kind of SCSI board did you use? Regards, Jonathan
Kelly, I've been using GVP SCSI boards in both 2000's and 4000's for a long time now and I can say that they work very well with SyQuest drives. In fact I have several machines running a hard drive, CD-ROM, SyQuest, and HP scanner, all using the GVP board with…
I'm using a GVP Impact Series II. So far it has worked with everything else I've tried, including a Quantum hard drive, SyQuest, CD-ROM, and HP Scanner. It is very unusual, at least in my experience, for the Amiga (via HD Tools) to "see" a device when the GVP will…
Wayne, Pardon me for jumping in, but I wonder if you might be able to help me. I've been trying to connect a Pinnacle Micro Tahoe 128 Meg. MO drive to my A4000, but I haven't had any luck. HD Tools sees the drive but can't write to it. My…
Pardon me for jumping in, but I'm trying to connect a MO to my A4000. I haven't had any luck yet. I have a Pinnacle Micro Tahoe 128 meg. MO drive. HD Tools sees it, but won't write to it. My GVP SCSI card doesn't see it at all. I…
#GVP-HostAdapter
Message #128564
Apparently just to make it more appealing to A4000 owners. I'm having trouble connecting a Magneto Optical drive to my A4000. Do you know anyone who is using an MO on an Amiga? Regards, Jonathan
Ottmar, Yes, I have it now and it is working correctly! Thanks for the help. Regards, Jonathan
#HP ScanJet IIc on Amiga
Message #71968
I have just tried to connect a ScanJet IIc to my Amiga 4000/040 and (of course?) it isn't working. My GVP Impact Series II SCSI board "sees" the scanner, at least FaaastPrep says it does. But the scanner software (ASDG's HP ScanJet IIc Loader, V 1.0) says the scanner can't…

GVP-HostAdapter

Juan, I can't help you with the memory question, but I'm using the same board in my A4000/040. The company says that there is absolutely no difference between the 2000 and 4000 version. My regular dealer sells them both to users of A2000's and A4000's. Regards, Jonathan
Bad 3.1 Upgrade
Message #71967
I got my long awaited upgrade in the mail, thanks for the mouse pad. Now please send me working copies of disks 4 – 6. I'm in the middle of the install and everything is fine – until it asks for #4. I insert #4 and it asks for #4…
GVP SCSI & Flopticals
Message #71233
I need a removable storage device for an Amiga 4000. I don't want to use SyQuest because the disks are too expensive. I'm looking at Iomega's 21 mb floptical drive and some other 128 mb Magneto Optical drives. The media for these devices can be had for less than $50.…
I agree with what you said about only installing items that will also work on an A5000. But what about the 4000T (assuming it really exists)? And what's this about the Mac Quadra? Will it support a Toaster and can I do all the same things with the Toaster that…
Thanks, Tom. I'm cancelling my plans for buying a 4091, post haste! I haven't been able to find any more 2091's so I went with the GVP Impact Series II and it is working out very well; much better than the 2091, in fact. Of course it costs more than…
Thanks, Tom What's an ICD board? I've had some success with a utility called MapBoard. I'd recommend it. I haven't heard bad things about the 4091 (most likely because the only person I've discussed it with is my dealer, who wants to sell me several). Why wouldn't it work for…
Thanks, I'll DL and give it a try. Jon
#SLOW 2091 SCSI!
Message #37552
I have a 2091 SCSI card in my 4000 and it is so unbelievably slow! I'm running a CD-ROM, 88 MB SyQuest, and a 525 MB hard drive on it. Copying files to one of the two 120 MB IDE hard drives from any SCSI device takes too long. Copying…
Anthony, I think you're right about there not being any utilities for reading FrameStore on the IBM. But thanks for the tip on splitting and joining. I didn't know about that option. Jon
Hey! Now there's a good idea. I have to admit (sheepish grin) I haven't spent that much time with the ADPro User's Manual. Thanks for the help!
Thanks, Harry. I haven't tried the null modem route yet, but it's a good idea.
#FrameStore To PC…
Message #65455
I want to put FrameStores on a floppy (using CrossDOS), move them to my PC and convert them to other graphics formats. Anyone know where I can find a PC conversion utility that can handle FrameStore? I do it now by converting the FrameStore to JPEG on the Amiga, using…
