Unfortunately, it seems pretty clear it's the worst news — it's the end of Commodore worldwide, not just the U.S., which to me means the end of the Amiga. Sales of assets/technology may happen, but I can only see them used with or incorporated into other systems or future products…

Also check your modem cable. Backtalk will not work with an abbreviated 3-wire cable — it requires a full (7-wire?) one. Unfortunately, that's why I downloaded it but haven't done anything with it. –apl

Not sure if this will work, but it's something I might try: Copy another small file into the directory under the same name of your Dracula-file, then try to delete it. For example, try: copy c:dir xxx:__Vmem delete xxx:__Vmem where "xxx:" is whatever directory that has this bad file. –apl
True, regarding the outside sales people (sorry guys…). It's the inside development and support people that's ominous. I doubt CBM has had any fat for quite a while, and now they may be cutting out muscle and internal organs… –apl
Your dealer is very unusual. I agree 100% with Denny Atkin's comments — Microbotics has always had high-quality products, and great support. I also think Microbotic's Redmond Simonsen has the kind of professionalism in his network communications (BIX, CIS) that all vendors should follow. –apl

The $1650 price was from one of the dealers there — they were dropping their price every few hours or so in a sort of "Lowest Price!" competition during the show. CBM's list price hasn't changed (at least not yet) and I doubt the $1650 price will be offered now…

Thanks for the info Regis… I do have Term which works with CIS B+, but I have used NComm 1.9 for a long time and liked it, so I had hoped that the new NComm 2.0 version would finally add what I missed. I guess it just doesn't properly work…

I have tried to use NComm 2.0 with xprbplus and xprquickb libraries, but it hasn't worked with either. It's not the libraries themselves, since they worked fine with Term 2.4. I'm used to NComm 1.9 so I'd rather use 2.0, but not if I can't use the CIS B protocols.…
That's not what the docs say — see my message #76650 to Steve Ahlstrom. Also, see the previous message #76590 that seems to show a difference between verson 1.51 and 1.55, and the following message #76614 where a 7-wire cable doesn't seem to help. –apl

The new upgrade of ProWrite (ProWrite Version 2.0) allows you to import both normal and HAM pictures. It also now included a spell-checker. So far I like it a lot — recommend you look at it as an answer to your problem. –apl
The LaPine drives were actually made by Kyocera.Supposedly Kyocera cancelled the deal with them. LaPine is out of business now. I don't have one myself, but they generally have a fair reputation, so you should be OK. COuld be trouble if it ever needs repair however. –apl
