#Windows version? Message #193407
I hear that 3ds will be going to NT. Does that mean there won 't be a 95 version? I'm assuming that an NT version wouldn't run on 95, until I hear otherwise. I was hoping I wouldn't have to upgrade my PC's more than required for 95…
>> What I'm trying to say is that few people seriously involved in 3DS are using it in the design PROCESS, or as a tool to THEMSELVES create a work that is an end unto itself
#2359- PCMCIA Video Caputre bd Message #2631
From: David Hogan Desktop Video Forum · Digital Encoding February 5, 1995 12:39 AM
I've seen a PCMCIA video capture card advertised in several PC magazines. Beyond that I don't know anything about it. As an aside, does anyone have any idea when notebook makers will start to incorporate higher end graphics/video as an option (other than the Toshiba)? Speaking of the Toshiba, is…

A question; what happens if the van breaks down? 🙂 Also, what operating system is this beast using to do "parallel processing"? As far as I know, there isn't an NT or UNIX version of 3DS yet…

Since Impulse can't seem to get DXF format quite right, I have to ask: Do you support Imagine 3.0 (DOS) in your translation products? If so, please send me some info. Thanks.

I didn't save your response to my earlier observations, but any idea that I am being "threatening" is absurd. I sincerely want Imagine to succeed on the PC platform, but as an experienced user of many DOS CAD and modeling/animation products, I know that effective DXF transfer is, for the…

From: David Hogan Amiga Vendor Forum · Impulse April 23, 1994 5:12 PM
I also hope so! I just placed my order under the assumption that the DXF problem was fixed. I hope that Impulse realizes how important DXF is in the PC world. If it isn't fixed, I will just have to return my order for a refund.

I don't know if you're taking wish-list items for Facade, but one feature I would like, would be the ability to "unfold" or "flatten" all or part of the 3D model for plotting and assembling into a cardboard model. Its great to be able to take a model into 3DS…

I haven't got it yet. The wish list looks impressive. I suppose ease of use will be key, as well as connectivity to other programs (obviously APT for one). Do you know of commercially available 3D architectural "entourage"? I am thinking of classical orders, certain complicated window types, interior elements,…

I'm looking for something that runs IN ACAD. Not a full production package like ADDCAD, but something inexpensive oriented to architectural modeling, like Facade. I just wondered if there was anything to compare it to. Of course, DataCAD would cost less than Facade alone, never mind ACAD. 😉

I'm about to buy 3DS, and have some questions. Is the Cardinal SnapPlus supported at all? BTW, any comments on the board appreciated, I've heard horror stories, but I'm getting it used with a Vbox, for not much more than the Vbox. Besides, its about the only card that my…

I will be getting into 3DS soon. I was wondering what packages are best for generating architectural models for use with 3DS primarily, as opposed to full architectural production drawings. My budget is small (I'm a student), so that may be a problem. One that I am interested in is…

Will Imagine 3.0 support distributed network rendering on DOS machines? Also, will there be drivers available for direct support of the PAR on DOS machines? I'm looking to utilize both 3DS and Imagine, and I'd like to have some idea of what configuration to start looking for. Also, will there…

I "upgraded" to 2.0, but was thoroughly annoyed by the Amiga docs, the general bizarre quality of the documentation, and the lack of (functional) DXF support, which is important in the DOS world. I recognize it has a good price/performance ratio, so I'm waiting to see what develops with 3.0.…

For my needs, DXF transfer capability would be a good start. Imagine for PC imports everything to one object. And it doesn't produce DXF files which are importable to ACAD or Silverscreen. "Easier" means IBM documnetation written for the PC, not the Amiga. Etc.

Imagine is a tool. Most people tend to prefer working with tools that are comprehensible and don't maim them. If Imagine is to be a success on other platforms, it will have to improve ease of use to be consistent with the alternatives, not matter what the price/performance level. I…

You are absolutely right in your comments about Imagine 2.0 for DOS. The manual is completely unintelligible and oriented toward AmigaDOS. Worse, the DXF transfer capabilities that were the selling point for me are completely useless, and I can't get Impulse to say if it will be fixed in the…
