#215671 VLT Jr. Message #215771
From: Richard Beausang Amiga User Forum · Communications October 19, 1995 12:56 AM
Pete, VLTJr has a Cis Quick B protocol. Set this as your protocol then go to the autopilot library and type dow AP.LHA. CIS will then ask what protocol you wish to use. Type in the number corresponding to CIS Quick B and download the file. -Richard

Michael, Any idea what the pricing is for Maple V. I've always wanted this program but it was a little steep for something I really don't need for anything. -Richard

Endre, You might try giving Software Hut a call for some of these items. I bought an a2410 card from them for just slightly more than $100. -Richard
#48313 #HELP/ANIMATION Message #48349
From: Richard Beausang Amiga Arts Forum · Animation September 30, 1995 1:58 PM
Jon, Your animation is an opcode 5 or anim 5 animation. Probably the easiest way to add a sound byte to your animation on your 600 would be to play the sound simultaneously with another program. Ain't multitasking great? I use playsound. Another program from the DPaint III era is…
#48017 Printing Problems Message #48105
From: Richard Beausang Amiga Tech Forum · Forum Business/Help September 11, 1995 1:06 AM
Philippe, Both my 3000 and 1200 were printing extra pages with both FW3 and 4. Upon the suggestion of SoftWood I fiddled around with the page setup in FinalWriter. I no longer have any problems. -Richard

Steve, There are a few other utilities you should consider using. i'm not too sure about the toaster file formats, but if rend24 will import them, you can convert them to 24 bit files. You can then use IfftoDCTV to convert them to either 3 or 4 bitplane DCTV files.…
#47602 #system crashed Message #47635
Betty, I have a little piece of irony to share with you. As I was posting the reply to your excellent suggestion, I hit offline now in AP and got a system crash while AP was writing to the hard drive. Upon restarting my computer, I got all kinds of…

Paul, MY Amax cartridge stopped working when I upgraded to system 3.1. I wouldn't expect that they would work with the 1200. -Richard
#47564 #system crashed Message #47593
Very good suggestion Betty! It' funny I haven't seen this posted more frequently. I've had numerous instances over the years with my 040 accelerator crashing a program while it's writing to disk and getting the not validated message upon reboot. The first time it happened I went through a very…

Alameda has some really great houses. My 1910 house is in Berkeley. I love it. I'm surprised you could get financing without earthquake insurance. It's getting bad for new homeowners since insurance companies aren't writing new policies and financers won't finance without insurance. Well, good luck on the new place.…

It seems like you could get 300 to 400 bucks for the 1000 and 2000. Add to that the $500 you were going to spend to upgrade and you're in the ballpark of the 3000 listed in message #195512 at $1000. Think of what it would cost to add all…

I agree that everyone should get the most powerful Amiga they can afford, but don't underestimate the older machines. The 500, especially with a fat Agnus and a little extra ram, can pump out an awesome slide show. -Richard

Well, maybe it's better kept secret. Think how effective it would be on those anxiously awaiting the anouncement of the fate of Commodore's assets on December 31, 1999 to be told on that day that it's going to be one more year! -Richard

#46545 #pc and amigas Message #46557
shaun, That's because the PC isn't reading Mac formatted disks. They're reading Dos formatted disks that were formatted on the Mac with the AppleFile Exchange program. The Amiga, with CrossDos is quite capable of reading these disks as well. -Richard

Leslie, I really hadn't noticed the "colour" thing. Just checked it out and by golly you're right. Kind of strange since DPIV has the "color" spelling. Oddly enough, I had to train myself to spell the word "color" without the u. I guess when I was growing up I learned…

I think that tech is wrong. I bought a used 1200 with a 125 meg 2.5 " IDE drive in it. Never measured the speed but it seems plenty fast to me. The Micropolis in my 3000 does around 3 megs a second according to SysInfo. I remember seeing something…

Tommy, You could continue to use the vga monitor from the 3000's 31 khz port. The OV output will be 15 Khz so you can use a 1084 or multisynch. I used a two monitor setup for a long time on my 3000. You'll probably want to do this because…

I had OS2.1 install on floppies. About the 6th disk into it I got an unreadable disk error. What a pain. Finally got a replacement disk. I too was tempted to remove because nothing runs on it and it's taking up valuable resources, but I found a very usable terminal…

I remember some discussion awhile back regarding the desirability of having a program like Quicken on the Amiga. Check out CHKITO.LHA CheckItOut-11. It's a solid program that come's the closest to Quicken as far as ease and functionality of anything I've seen. It even has some features that are better…
