From: Danny Mercurio Autodesk Multimedia Forum · IPAS Usage October 14, 1995 11:13 AM
I would suggest using a combination of metaballs and a dynamics package. Alternatively, there are a couple of "dynamics" scripts floating around here. They should give you the kind of control you need over the metaball reference spheres to achieve this effect.

#Mesh Optimization Message #192317
From: Danny Mercurio Autodesk Multimedia Forum · *MM Developers September 24, 1995 12:15 PM
Does anyone know of a good source of material or sample source code for performing mesh optimizations? I'd like to be able to reduce vertex and face counts of models that were created parametrically. Thanks in advance, Danny…
#Primitive IDs Message #185995
From: Danny Mercurio Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Wishlist August 19, 1995 12:25 PM
Hey Jonas, Got a wish for MAX. Can you include some kind of identifier flag within a primitive's appdata chunk? (Or whatever the equivalent to the appdata chunk is in MAX.) I'd like to know what the user created. You know, sphere, cone, box, torus, etc. I realize that this…

#183038 Refractive Metaballs Message #183198
> Is it the first refractive metaballs rendered on the PC?' I guess you could say that this is the first "public" refractive metaball animation. I'm currently working on another, more complicated, animation to show off the refraction/metaball potential. I can't wait to try the Aurora stuff. Will you be…

#182708 #Refractive Metaballs Message #182713
Hey Aleksey, The testing is going great! Refraction mapping and metaballs work seemlessly together and are producing the most realistic liquid effects I've ever seen on a PC. After only 5 minutes of use, without looking at a manual, I managed to create an animation that demonstrates the effect of…
Thanks Anne, I got it. Looks great! BTW, Can't remember if I already asked you this but, are you going to Siggraph? Danny…

HI Jonas, I don't know if you're the right person to this to but… I just downloaded 3DVIEW.ZIP and there are several files missing from the zip. One of the files is required for the program to function. The files are: DOS4GW.EXE, ZBUFFER.C, & ZBUFFER.H Just thought you'd like to…

Thanks Don, I tried something similar to this without success. Maybe I just typo'd it or something. Thanks for your help. Take care, Danny…
> How will your metaballs be different from Metareyes? First, they support standard texture mapping just like regular mesh objects. Second, they support parametric envelopes for metaball settings. Third, they're faster. There are some other things, but those are the most prominant.
Hi Jonas, Do you have a suggestion for determining whether or not an animation is being rendered in field mode from within an AXP? I've tried accessing FieldInfo and AXPViewInfo. I've also tried EXP_FIELD_INF and EXP_AXP_VIEW without success. I can get the total number of fields but that doesn't change…
The programs will be released within the next month or so. Yes, I will be posting non-saving demo versions here.

#163334 #Inside/Out Message #163367
From: Danny Mercurio Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Scripts April 6, 1995 7:18 PM
Hi David, I'm assuming that you're trying to determine whether a point's inside or outside an arbritrary mesh. In other words, you aren't creating the mesh, just checking your point(s) against an already present mesh. I'd approach this problem in two parts; Start with the mesh's bounding box. You can…

Hi Mark, I took a look at your problem and played around a bit. Here's a program that correctly selects/deselects objects in the 3D Editor and is selection-set sensitive. I hope it helps. You're absolutely right Ron! The Bezier Patch Modeler is a PXP, not an AXP, and it will be available shortly from Digimation. If you have any questions about specifics, please feel free to ask. I'm usually lurking around here somewhere. Danny…
