Have you seen the Mac do much better at Motion-JPEG with a $600 card? The popular Mac cards are MUCH more expensive (they have a much higher performance JPEG chip). – Jan

There are two different JPEG chipsets from LSILogic. The DC1 (and many similar boards) use the cheap one. It's limited to 320×240 or so with a maximum uncompressed RGB data rate of 8 MB/sec (320x240x30fpsx24-bit=6.9 MB/sec). The expensive LSILogic chipset will do 32 MB/sec uncompressed. This chipset is used in…
You might try getting the latest version drivers from Adaptec. They now have a Windows VxD for many of their scsi cards to allow 32-bit disk access from WFWG 3.11. – Jan

I haven't heard about any add-on card for the Stealth 64. I have heard ALL the S3 boards are about be revised with the 868 and 968 chips ( instead of the 864 and 964). The new chips have things like pixel expansion and color space conversion. This helps video…

My guess is the Intel SVR may be performance limited in it's hardware compression speed. I know LSI Logic makes two different lines of their JPEG compression chips, the cheap ones and the fast ones. The cheap ones can only do 320x240x30fps or so. This ends up being about a…
#2536- #Where is PCI capture?? Message #2836
From: Jan Bottorff DTV Forum · Digital Encoding February 11, 1995 5:34 PM
I can think of 2 PCI capture cards. One from somebody like ThunderVision, MJPEG 640x480x30, not yet shipping. The other was from AITech. It does no compression (better have a FAST disk array). Full studio quality video (even compressed) overloads an ISA bus. Raw video is about 32 MB/sec. If…
