Have you seen the Mac do much better at Motion-JPEG with a $600 card? The popular Mac cards are MUCH more expensive (they have a much higher performance JPEG chip). – Jan

There are two different JPEG chipsets from LSILogic. The DC1 (and many similar boards) use the cheap one. It's limited to 320×240 or so with a maximum uncompressed RGB data rate of 8 MB/sec (320x240x30fpsx24-bit=6.9 MB/sec). The expensive LSILogic chipset will do 32 MB/sec uncompressed.
