With this message and the private posting on the WF/VS results, I should be able to get something figured out with the engineers. We have identified and fixed some further bugs that cause problems particularly with GVP accelerated systems, and your backward-operating sliders were one of the symptoms of that.…
I'm using a Fusion Forty myself. Thanks for the reminder!
I'll check with engineering, and give you a call tomorrow (may also cross-check with Test on the further GVP-related fixes we've had to make). Chuck.
Whooooa! I'll see if we can replicate that error here, but I've done some short run renders with .1 and .2 extensions with no trouble, just in the last couple days. Chuck.
Well, if I hadn't had my head buried in this other project, I might have known about those features to tell you. I've got a few more days on this, and then I am going to concentrate on my online work and getting in lots of time with the Flyer…
Yes, if Reorg cannot recover all the time it claims, then clean-up has missed the heads and tails. The function is automatic on quit, and can occur at other times under user control in response to a requestor (A/V Temp Files error). The clean-up can also be initiate while the…
I'll look for the comment on the files view/database. Chuck.
Tim, the Test department, and the TPaint programmer will all see a copy of your message. Chuck.
No, but we've uncovered more problems for systems with GVP brainboards, and have them fixed in-house. I don't know if this would be related or not. Chuck.
Thank you, on Tim's behalf, and I'll see he gets your message! Chuck.
The traffic around here is largely being posted by Flyer and Lightwave owners right now, but I do get some good ol' Toaster business now and then! Whenever they have a question or a comment…. 🙂 Chuck.
Ed, please leave me your number in EMail so I can have a tech work with you on what you have going on. We want to get you working. Chuck.
Thanks for the kind words, Hank, both from me and on behalf of Tim and the rest of NewTek. The responce has been overwhelmingly good, and we are hard at work on those areas where problems have cropped up. uh, er, response. Chuck.
I don't know. We don't try transferring clips out of the Flyer through the bus to Amiga drives here. I have seen reports here of people using backup to Amiga devices, but I can't speak from any experience. I would try mounting the drive on the Flyer Bus, first. Chuck.
No word on that right now, but just because an item doesn't make 4.1 does not mean you'll never see it. Chuck.
>I've always refrained from discussing our business relationship here since >it really wasn't anybody else's concern but ours. I feel exactly the same way, Jerry. I am just responding to your various references to "sitting with Jenison and two lawyers" and promising this and that, the implication being that I…
I don't know for sure, but I believe they will be gone at least one week. I'll check tomorrow during office hours. Chuck.
Hmmm, better check again. I posted our edited transcript, with wiseacre comments from the boys in Test (and they thought they'd get away unknown!), about the same time I was posting 4.06. I got tired of waiting for an official transcript that I understood Compuserve would be placing. The Pre-CO…
Follow your nose, Wayne! But if the Toaster does still have a problem we ought to find out, and I can check with our staff and get that back in for correction. Chuck.
I'll be sure Tim gets your message, Trent, and on his behalf, I thank you for the kind words! Chuck.
Will pass this on to the programmers. Chuck.
Software development being what it is, the most we can honestly say is that 4.1 will ship when it is done. We may have one or more interim updates posted here and on the BBS prior to 4.1 (virtual certainty there), and as of the latest I heard Traz is…
Certainly, given the circumstances, things are lean, but certainly not unhealthy, and we've had leeway for the growth needed to press our PC products forward in development. We are certainly looking forward to the completion of the Flyer and the release of our new products for PC and other platforms,…
No, I'm telling last I heard it was supposed to have come in-house, but if Scott told you to send it to Midwestern, it will get taken care of there. I will follow up our internal channels here and get us all on the same frequency. Thanks for letting me…
The instructions posted are for Standalone LW 3.5 to 4.0. They last time I checked with Sales, they indicated they would be contacting you further on the update issue. Since they apparently have not, I will follow-up with them when they return from the show they are currently attending. Chuck.
I haven't had a briefing yet on the error 18, but the Flyer Error list (in the Library) defines it as a list error. I would stick with the unmodified Startup-Sequence. Build your assigns, etc, into the file User-Startup. Adding them one at a time until the failure occurs would…
Will let you know when I get the tape, and thanks for the good news! Have a safe journey! Chuck.
>>>Ah, how I wish that were true, Tim. You got a license to include our entire font library with Video Toaster 3.0. Other licensees at the time were paying us as much as $20 a unit for the privilege. It's been a couple of years for me, Tim, waiting for…
Works fine for me too. The version that had the problem was strictly in-house, sorry for the confusion! Chuck.
I think it gives us something to try out, I've heard of a few error 18s out there, and that is some kind of internal list error. The Alcatraz error list the same as the Flyer error list posted in the library, so you can check the error numbers there.…
thanks for the info, I'll add it to the pile. What was your system again? Chuck.
I will request a file on the keyboard commands from Docs and Test. Chuck.
CustomStart works OK. The problem was on an interim rev tested in-house, not on software that went out, but got stuck in my input buffer, I guess! 😉 Chuck.
So far, all 9G Seagate Elites shipped are ASA1, and that is not likely to change, as far as I know. Chuck.
There is a file with instructions for upgrade from Lightwave 3.5 to 4.0. The cost is $149 US through September 30, 1995, to upgrade to Amiga 4.0. Check in the forum Library for the instruction file, or contact our Customer Service department at 913-228-8000. Chuck.
Fred, I can see I need to quit spending all day and night online and start putting in some quality time with my Flyer system, now that I actually have one again, after all this time. Chuck.
Beats me, dean. Last I heard CustomStart had some problem they were working on in the back room. I'll get details. Chuck.
After Video Toaster 4.1 for Flyer ships, adaptation of the Toaster-only version will be completed and will ship. Chuck.
No, a re-install will not be needed. I'm not sure what current time frame is, as the recall program, which was conducted via our manufacturer, is no longer operating. Your board will come to NewTek to Flyer Repair, if I am not mistaken. They are processing things pretty quickly through…
Tim, I'm not familiar with you, so I don't know what your claims to expertise may be in this industry, but I certainly know your comments about health or lack thereof for this company are pure baseless speculation. We are doing well enough that we've added 19 staff recently, most…
Hello, Jerry, my friend! I remember quite clearly the conversation that we had about "cutting action" as you refer to it. By the way, "cutting action" is not a commonly used, well defined term among video editors. I just got off the phone with a well known Hollywood editor who…
Greg, have you tried a backup since receiving 4.06? Or have you got 4.06 yet? Would like an update when you've tried that. Chuck.
Well, I'll just have to see if I can drag him out of the dungeon. Might be a good question for the upcoming conference. Chuck.
By and large 4.06 has worked out very well for the vast majority of users. I'd be concerned about the flakiness you are seeing. It is not the result most users are getting, and seems to me to be a situation that bears careful watching. I'll pass your results to…
No, there is no such global command at this time, it is a suggestion on the feature request list, and one that might be implemented via an ARexx script. Chuck.
JUST 9G drives, as the message says. Seagate is still working on the 4G drive firmware. Chuck.
Seagate is still working on the 4 G drive firmware, and has elected not to keep 9 G drive owners waiting while they resolve those issues. We did not receive the Micropolis drives from the reseller who was testing them, and the reseller has apparently not reported any test results…
Try calibrate several times. You do not need to autohue each time. CustomStart is not working yet, but will eventually let you set some preferences for Flyer, such as booting into the Project/Files view instead of Switcher. DriveSpeed is also under construction, and for now will test drives and report…
I haven't heard anything about third party, yet, other than that pretty much everyone who have macro products for the Amiga version will be doing plugin versions for the Intel LW. This includes a couple of particle systems. Chuck.
Have you tried autohue and FlyerCalibrate? That area might be rewritten, and could cause a variety of problems if this has occurred. Chuck.
