Michael – this sounds like an AutoCAD question to me… you should repost your message in the AutoCAD Forum (GO ACAD). Dave
Klaus – I suggest you ask your question in the AutoCAD Forum (GO ACAD). This is the Autodesk Multimedia Forum (GO AMMEDIA). When you GO ACAD, post your message in Section 12 "Plotting/Printing" and include the version of AutoCAD you're trying to plot from and exactly what happens when you…
Jim – AutoCAD LT is supported in the Autodesk Retail Products Forum (GO ARETAIL). Someone there should be able to help you. Dave
#LT as prep for ACE tests
Message #161268
Phil – thanks for the clarification. I haven't heard a peep out of Drake's anyway, so I guess they're not interested. How are things at BCIT? Dave
Randy – that's 2 for LT and one agin… (I posted a similar message on ARETAIL and Dave A from NAAUG thought it would not be suitable). I've been talking with Barbara on email but we didn't talk about LT. *Could* you fax me your list of topic areas? My…
Roger – thanks! I'll give him a call. Dave
James – I know Walter Kappelmann; in fact, he's a good friend of a good friend. I took one of his Train the Trainers courses a few years ago when he was out here in Vancouver. I liked his courseware very much and used it in the R11 courses I…
Ted – thanks. I'll give Ken a call. Dave
LT as prep for ACE tests
Message #158340
Does anyone have any opinions on using AutoCAD LT as a teaching/learning tool in preparation for the AutoCAD Certification Exams (Level 1 and/or Level 2)? Is there anything in either exam that is not available on LT? I have a proposal in to the local office of a larger training…
#ACAD Training @ Drake?
Message #158339
I've just done a CNA course at Drake. The folks there were very interested to know that I train in AutoCAD and asked me about setting up courses to prepare for the Level 1 and 2 exams. Before I start reinventing the wheel, I'd like to know if any Drake…
Thanks much, Nik. Do you think I should configure all the modules for VESA compatibles rather than using RCPADI and the Matrox RCMGA for Main and Render Display? I don't seem to get many colours if I do it that way… Dave
#Can't config MGA Imp/3/V
Message #151502
Hi, Nik. I'm still having grief trying to configure 3DS3 and my Matrox MGA Impression 3Mb VL board. It's running on a 32Mb 486/66 clone, and I'm using the VIB3DS driver that I downloaded from here (1.0.5.P1). Here's a copy of a message I posted a couple days ago in…

Sylvain – I forwarded your message to the sysop. In future, please don't include your ATC number in a public message. Think of it as you would your VISA number! Dave
John – I think the 750C has an enhanced parallel port. It'll be interesting to see if the dongle works… Let us know, ok? I have a 750Ce which does not have the EPP, but I haven't installed 3DS on it… yet… Won't you mind only having 256 colours? Dave
Mike – could the dongle issue with the Tosh have anything to do with the fact that it may or may not have an Enhanced Parallel Port? I know that EPPs don't work with some features; e.g., on my Thinkpad I would need a different parallel to SCSI device depending…
Alex – ok, I don't have a Plus. Thanks. Dave
Alex – > Support wasn't a pain in the ass to deal with, but I finally got the drivers > that would work well in 3DS. Actually, they are in the Matrox forum for the > pickin'. What drivers did you find the the Matrox forum? I have the latest…
Christophe – there's a program called PRINTGL that will work with earlier LJs and a whole lot of other programs. Go over to the ACAD Forum for it. Dave
Christophe – that's not correct. Release 12 has configurations for the Laserjet Series II as well as the original LJ and LJ Plus. Dave
Bruce – AutoCAD is supported in Autodesk's AutoCAD Forum (GO ACAD). This is Autodesk's Multimedia Forum (GO ASOFT).
Adam – the file is called VIB3DS.ZIP and it contains the v1.05 driver files. It's in either Lib 3 or Lib 6 here. Dave
Nik – thanks for the speedy reply. My card is an Impression 3Mb/VL bus. I am only just setting up my 3DS and configured for RCPADI using the RCMGA driver; Dave White on the Matrox forum told me that didn't work in the materials library so that's when I switched…
#Video Driver
Message #138696
Nik – FWIW, I'm not having any luck with 3DS3 with my MGA Impression either. Any device and resolution that actually runs causes my machine to lock up when I leave 3DS. Dave
Michele – address your message to *SYSOP. The asterisk makes sure it goes to Bob Henderson and no one else. Dave
Roger – to send a private message to Bob Henderson, address it to *SYSOP. The asterisk makes sure it goes straight to him and no one else. Dave
Brian – the current inline driver *does* have an MGA option. You can download it from Lib 3. Look for VIB3DS.ZIP. I have an MGA Impression and can't make it work with my old BIOS, but you have a newer board so may have more luck. Dave
Ted – thanks for the suggestion; I'll give it a try.
#Configuring MGA & 3DS3
Message #138019
I'm attempting to set up 3D Studio v3 on a 32Mb 486/66 running an MGA Impression 3Mb VL graphics board. On the advice of the sysop in the Matrox forum, I downloaded the v1.05 inline driver for 3DS v3 and now cannot configure the program properly. I run 3DS VIBCFG,…

Slassi – the best place to post this message is Section 15 "Take 5/Want Ads" in the AutoCAD Forum (GO ACAD). This forum (GO ASOFT) is the multimedia forum. Dave
John – I don't know what happened to your access to the ATC section. Have you sent a message to *SYSOP (the * makes it private and makes sure it goes to Bob Henderson). Dave B/North Vancouver BC and a Kwantlen Alumnus from 1983
Merlin – I don't know what software you're using, but you could try going interactive in Compuserve. When you see a forum! prompt, just enter REA WAI and that will display your waiting messages. Dave
Bret – > I was able to download AQTV11.ZIP, and was told that EVAL.ZIP was > a good program too. But I can't find that one… I think the program you're looking for is EVALDE.ZIP; it's a limited demo version of Profissee Software's AutoCAD Evaluator. I'm not sure if it's…
Roger – FYI, the ACAD Forum message sections and libraries have just been rearranged. There is no longer a "What's New" library; in fact, Lib 9 is now the "Database/SQL" section. I'm not sure which section it's going to end up in, but I guess members can always find it…
Roger – thanks. The commercial product sounds like something I should have… depending on how the licence works. Would it be kosher to use it to generate exams for my various clients, or is it meant to stay at one licenced institution? I'll have a look at the demo that's…
Roger – how is your quick test being distributed? Is it shareware or commercial or…? I'd be really interested in seeing a copy; I'm going back to Thailand in 3 weeks to train some people and I'd like to find out how much they know…
Nick – try posting your query on the AutoCAD Forum (GO ACAD). Section 13 "Applications" would be the appropriate section. The ones that I'm familiar with are Timberline and Softdesk Estimating, but you may hear of more on the ACAD Forum. Dave
Byron – wrong forum. Go over to the AutoCAD Forum (GO ACAD) and download it from Lib 2 "Drivers and Updates". Dave
Roger – if you're interested in an AutoCAD-based system, try asking your question in the ACAD Forum (GO ACAD). If you're interested in one of the Home Series, or perhaps AutoCAD LT, try the Autodesk Retail Products Forum (GO ARETAIL). If you're interested in non-Autodesk software, try the League for…
Bob – hmmmm… I thought it was included in Release 11. In that case, if you want a copy of it, you'll need to find someone who still has Release 10. I took my 10 off quite some time ago. Why don't you try asking on the ACAD forum if…
Bob – where did you look again? MENUTREE.DWG is not included with Release 12, and I'm not aware of an updated version in the libraries of either forum.
Robert – there used to be a sample drawing called MENUTREE but I don't think it was ever updated to Release 12. Dave
John – for better or worse, this is the place. I think AutoCAD education issues belong in the ACAD Forum, but there isn't room for any more sections there. Dave
Joe – I know… you just scan the whole message base for "FLW" and get your digs in, doncha???? Not that I don't agree with you… Dave
Dan – thanks. I'm on the phone already. Dave
Dan – what is "Fallingwater in 3DS"? Not FLW's Fallingwater? And a book about modelling it in 3DS??? Dave

Acad12 C2 to Acad 10
Message #90607
William – in your ACAD\SUPPORT directory there is a file called DXFIX.EXE. It will allow you to process a Release 12 DXF file into a Release 10-compatible DXF which your client can DXFIN. PKZIP is a perfectly fine way of zipping drawings to email them. Dave
Don – I just checked, and it looks empty to me too. GARY… YOU OUT THERE??? Dave
