The book is outstanding… start raytracing a complex scene of about 200 frames and by sunrise you'll be done the book.
I bet the renderer is pretty specialized too, although raytracing with only sphere primitives is very fast, it would not be optimal unless it knew what to expect.
Emulating a quadra at speed is nothing, when they become usable it will be cool… like an emplant in an a2000 with an 040. ;- }

Might one not get a better image with ToasterPaint? or at least an AGA dpaint with 256 gray levels. If you got to close to a dithered dpaint 16color map, you might notice it. Also make the sphere big, so there's lots o color in the range area.

I can't seem to find the number, try Sundance Technology, Irving TX… or maybe its Dallas proper. They were a very low cost option with great features. The mac style editing interface irked editors who wanted raw EDLs, but it's easy to use
Since you're getting a mac anyway, check out the Sundance editor for the mac. It will control your decks and Toaster for full A/B roll.

ToasterLink doesn't have any ARexx support, but you may be able to find a mac macro program, like quikkeys, which can record and play back actions, then use this to control the mac application to send a batch of files over./exit

You can port them now on floppies, serial port, or Novell/ethernet network. The Format can be virtually any bitmap image format, or the 3d object format used by most PC programs .dxf, for import into lightwave. These same tricks work for Macs too, since they can read PC disks now…
