Jean, the US Robotics modem should be fine with your A3000. We don't see too many of the USR modems in Australia, but those who go to the trouble of bringing them over here seem to be very happy & proud of them (for all the effort it took them…

Nathan – What is the terminal software you use ? – What is the transfer protocol ? CompuServeB ? XModem ? This may be the cause of the problem… File transfers are rarely corrupted, even XModem will usually do, although it'll slow down a whole lot if it starts getting…

You can use harddrives MUCh larger than 270 MB with the 2090 controller, and you can get the info from the drives just by opening HDtoolbox and selecting define new drive type and then reading the configuratiossl [Be RDB's are supported, and Mounting the drives is not (always) necessary.

In my experience, and from what I have been told, resistor packs are not THAT important. At the risk of sounding pretentious, I've never bothered with them, and I've never had a problem of that nature. Perhaps you should look to some other cause. I find It hard to believe…

Has anyone checked the jumpers yet to make sure that the drives are not set to the same SCSI address ? As far as I could tell, if there were two drives set to the same address ie zero, then a conflict would occur. From my experience many drives shipped…

What does HDToolbox say about the problem ? Does it find the drive at all ? should at least say unknown type – you should then be able to read the specs off the drive ('change drive type' then 'read config from drive') and partition it, then it should just…
