Paul, I don't have experience, so the reason I am leaving this message is because I am almost ready to by CSA board. I am trying to find anybody who has worked with it and can tell me about andy SoftWare/HardWare compatability problems and also tell me the low down…
Fred, Yes, it is a binary file, and properly uploaded as such. If you see 2 numbers for the filesize such as : 12345(5432) then it is a binary upload. If you only see 1 number like 12345 it is an ASCII upload. I don't have Music Studio so can't…
Fred, All the music files are binary, but I'll take a look at ADORAM.S to make sure it is ok. Don

I think the above-referenced file is faulty. Repeated attempts to download have yielded garbage. Could the file have been specified wrong–should be binary. My downloaded files suggest that is probable. I really like this piece, and would be delighted to be able to have it for christmas.
I've never tried the CSA board with or without external memory, but I can guess at a few possible problems it might be causing. (1) Bus loading: The 86 pin connector on the side of the Amiga is speced to be able to supply 1 "F" type load on each…
Mike, Sure, just download them rather than Read them, but you'd have to have to necessary software to view them later. They are not standard Amiga type graphics pictures. Don
#Lattice C
Message #44142
Have any developers had problems using Lattice C under the new 1.2 release? We are developers using Lattice Version 3.03, and under both Beta 4 and Gamma 1, any program using printf, sprintf, or floating point conversion functions would die guru-style upon execution. Even the simple program "Hello, World!" would…

I have a CSA piggyback board with a '020 and 68881 plugged into my machine. Recently I have trying to purchase a 2 meg board to use with it. I have tested 4 boards and have found only the COMSPEC board to fuction. This is a problem because it is…

Bela: I've been seeing some items in the SIG about some concerns about the Sidecar. Can you shed some light on it? I was told by a dealer that the Sidecar has a 20 MB hard disk and 256K memory for the IBM side. I thought I saw something about…

Richard, I have noticed all of the music programs which have to be used with Music Studio. Are there any music programs in the DLs that do not require a music program. Also are there any music programs for Instant Music by EA. I have that program and would like…
#A-Host CIS Pictures
Message #44122
Does anyone know if the RLE pictres from CIS can be copied to disk when using Ahost???
Bill, Excellent ideas! By the way, even after purchasing a number of popular term programs for the Mac, I find FreeTerm to be more reliable (and more convenient) for the time I spend on CIS. A couple of comments on your proposal: it'd be nice if the "AmigaBinary" standard conformed…

My name is Bill Bond. I have been lurking for about a month while trying to get up to speed on Amiga Development. I am a Mac developer who recently got an Amiga development system. I have several products that are being published for the Mac. In particular, I have…
Thanks, Larry, for the info on F.A.U.G. I hope you'll post a reminder here to all just before the next meeting..I'd like to come. As for what I'm developing..my publisher's been pretty reasonable. He set me up with all of the development materials and told me to check out the…

Another thing you may watch out for is that CIS uses CRC protocol (or at least attempts it) when sending or receiving files via XMODEM. The receiving end of the transfer controls CRC by "requesting" it. If your term program can't handle CRC by at least NAK'ing the attempted CRC…
Hi Roy, If you don't mind traveling into Manhattan, might I suggest that you consider AMUSE, the New York Amiga User Group. We meet on the first and third thursdays of the month. We arrange demo's, exchange public domain software and maintain a BBS. If you are interested try our…

Iconed 1.1 help?
Message #610
I talked to Doc Amiga (Dave Boulton) today about it. You are right, there is a difference between programs being called from WB and the CLI (*why*did*they*do*that*). You may have noticed that DiskCopy on 1.1 runs ONLY from the workbench (at least it gives you a polite message if you…

Lattice on the Amiga is O.K. . It uses 32 bit int … while Aztec uses a 16bit int. This may cause problems when Aztec appears (in moving source to Aztec). You can also get a make utility from Maxicorp. I don't have any bugs to report in V3.03A Lattice.…

Ok, found my brochure. It's Computer System Associates, 7564 Trade St., San Diego, CA 92121, (619) 566-3911. The board is a generic 68000 replacement; however, I'm pretty sure the software to be run must conform with 68020 restrictions, such as not doing stupid things with RTE. Thus it won't do…
I agree with you and Larry. A generic 68K magazine could be a great success. It would have columns on all the major models, articles on programming in general on the 68K, how to do code optimization in a compiler, how to deal with 68000/68010/68020 differences, etc., etc. Definitely a…

Brent, congratulations on your decision to buy an Amiga! Borland's current plans on Amiga Turbo Pascal, as far as I know: the Macintosh version has been given priority, but the Amiga version will follow it very quickly. Both versions will be released during the first quarter, 1986. My guess, based…

Russ, I didn't do any distributing…. the user's group did. As to whether or not it is the Official Release, the only reason I have any doubts is that it is labeled AmigaBASIC 1.0 (but why should the rev # track the DOS anyhoo) and it seems to only have…

I'd like to propose a weekly meeting schedule something along the lines as follows: An Amiga Developers' Meeting every Sunday night, 6:00 p.m., Pacific time; a more general, Amiga Users' Meeting following at 7:00 p.m. Such regularaly scheduled CO's have several advantages. We can all have a time and place…
Tim: I'm glad you brought up the notion of 'organizing detente between the Atari/Amiga/Mac development worlds'. Yes. Yes. Yes. The First Amiga Users Group distributed all to members last nite. MS-Basic is 1.00, tho, and maybe not an official version. They are shipping them as fast as they can, shouldn't be more than a few days . One bad sign (maybe not in the "offical" Mbasic…

Bela, I too have experienced this nasty little virus, and I think I caught it from Maxicomm. Now the majority of my online disks are infected. Note that if you specify the system date, that the disk version is overridden, but alas, the disk in DF1: will redo it for…
According to the AmigaDOS users manual, this will happen only if the system date is not specified. If the date is not specified, then the DOS will set the system date to the date and time of the most recent file on the disk, which insures that newly written files…

#Date bug in AmigaDOS?
Message #303
A message on one of the TPUG Forums reports a nasty bug in AmigaDOS' date handling. The message is #42826 on PCS-155. Essentially, the date command will only set the date forward, and whenever a disk is put in the drive, the DOS checks the dates of the files and…
