Well, what I should explain is, by "warrantee" I meant support warrantee. As in, we will offer support to you through normal channels as long as you don't alter the package's integrity. Like patching a driver, .OVL using non supported methods within LISP or in this case breaking the protection…
INTERUPT VECTO
Message #21288
Don, Simply change the interrupt vector in ACAD to 7F. Then reconfigure your graphics driver to correspond to this change. Most ADI drivers allow this reassignment. A problem you may run into is the competition between ANET3 and AUTOLISP. It takes some tweaking to get everything to fit. —-Mike Barrow
Bob, the program called AutoSIG (also known as ATO) is great for message management, most of us here at Autodesk use it. It is a public domain program that you can download from the IBMCOM Forum. It has a function "T" (for "Thread") that downloads all messages and replies starting…
There are a couple different ways, Angus: 1) In each DL there is a file called BRO-#.ARC (#= number of the DL) which is a "browse" (list/description) of all the files in that DL. To read this "binary" file, you must download it and de-compress it with an un-arcing utility…
DXFIN anomaly
Message #21284
I am trying to DXFIN into a NEW drawing and AutoCAD is telling me that I don't have a new drawing and consequently will only input entities. I have previously edited ACAD.DWG to use surveyors units and a style of text called simplex which uses the simplex font. Could these…

Message #21282
HI, I have a Summagraphics MM1201 Can it be used as a pointing device for AutoShade? Thanks Jean-Paul Peretz
The HP Laserjet Series II is supported by AutoCAD Release 9. Perhaps you need to upgrade to this version? =SM=
There are no announced plans for a 386-specific version of AutoCAD. The current version runs quite briskly on 386 machines. Yes, you can customize the AEC menu to include pop-down menus. Either create your own, or you can cut-and-paste from the ACAD menu to the AEC menu. =SM=
Michael, you may also need to download some "movies" (.MOV files) to "project". If you just enter "AFEGA" at the DOS prompt, the program will display a message showing command-line syntax and options. The simplest way to run the projector part of the program is to enter "AFEGA [FILE]" at…

Dimentioning lines
Message #21278
George, dimensions are drawn with the linetype of the layer it is being drawn on, unless the LINETYPE: command was used to specify a certain linetype regardless of layer. If you have a user-defined linetype, either draw your dimensions on a layer that has been assigned that linetype (be sure…

Dead Amigas
Message #116307
Has anyone else had problems with their Amigas screen going blank. Well not exactly going blank, but going to the solid color of the background color. Lately, I have had this occurence on all three Amigas (500, 1000, 2000). An example, sometimes, while I am using Workbench, the screen will…

Herc Troubles
Message #21277
John, the PC Ltd machine should work, but the clone Herc card sounds like its not fully compatible. There is no special driver for that machine. My advice is to get a different graphics board. To "officially" transfer a registration requires that the original owner write a letter to Autodesk…

Z-100 AutoCAD ports
Message #21276
Dale, task 2 of AutoCAD's "Configuration" menu is "Allow I/O port configuration". If you toggle this to "yes", AutoCAD will ask you which port to use when you configure peripherals. I think this is what you're looking for. If not, let me know. =SM=
1080 vs. 1084
Message #116306
What is the difference between the 1080 & 1084 Amiga monitor. My brother went to order one and the lady told me that the 1084 monitor flickers, so they went back to the 1080. I had thought that Commodore replaced the 1080 monitor for the 1084, if so, why?
All HDs will benefit. But those that use DMA controllers are much faster with the ffs. The comparison is 84k per sec reads with non-DMA controllers, 218k per second reads with a DMA controller. But since the ffs is not currently available, it's an invalid comparison as things may change…

I agree. Autodesk folks are sensitive to the speed question, though, because for a while AutoCAD had the image of being powerful but ponderously slow. Now I rarely hear that criticism, thanks to hardware improvements and code refinements. .. Let's encourage Autodesk programmer's to go for the feature's that add…

Message #116298
Boy, simple things can sure get complex. To add a new twist. I did the d/l from an MS-DOS machine. I do it all the time. The ARCs unpack just fine. Anyway, Auto-chop, XMODEM padding, etc. is a non-issue in this environment. — Art

What I do or don't do is not the issue here. But, yes, in my lifetime I've retailed two software items: a utility disk and an EPROM programmer with a software driver (both for another machine). BOTH packages came with complete assembly source. And as I've already mentioned, I'm a…

Preferences Printer
Message #116281
Vic, I've got it to load and save standard Preferences files, (i.e. devs:system-configuration) by just reading and writing the file from/to a Prefrences structure. Very easy! Also makes it possible to use the files directly through a program like setprefs. I am using ARP, so command parsing is absolutely no…
Nick, I assume you de-arc'd the file? If not, it needs to be de-ARC'd with ARC whihc can be found in DL4 as ARC.EXE. If thats not the case, are you using the Aegis anim player showanim? You can tell by typing SHOWANIM, or whatever the file is called, in…
