#21271 #Herc Troubles Message #21272
From: John Foust Autodesk · AutoCAD March 29, 1988 1:37 AM
Whoops, I take that back. My original message didn't state I had the manual. I feel funny about this. *I* know I didn't pirate this, and you don't know I didn't. Another 24 hours to wait for an answer, I guess.
#21237 #Herc Troubles Message #21271
From: John Foust Autodesk · AutoCAD March 29, 1988 1:34 AM
Yes, he did give me the whole AutoCAD package, lock, stock, manual, disks, etc. I'm no pirate, I'm a software developer, I do a lot of "playing the heavy" myself. I'll forward the registration number to you in easyplex. Do you request this of all users who ask questions in…

#21251 SCRIPT FILE Message #21268
From: Lansing Pugh Autodesk · AutoCAD March 29, 1988 12:15 AM
Steve – .. The script file capability of AutoCAD was not meant to be used in the manner you outline. It was originally designed to allow Autodesk sales people to have a running "show" on the screen at trade shows. So, the only pause capability relates to interrupting the script…
#21235 #acad.lsp Message #21267
From: Lansing Pugh Autodesk · General March 29, 1988 12:15 AM
"Changing the ACAD.LSP file voids the warranty". .. Good grief. Surely you jest. .. Reviewing my "Software License Agreement", I am reminded that I have not actually purchased a product, but have paid a one-time fee for the limited right to use your software for up to 20 years. When…

Brad, In the March 1988 issue of CADalyst, Bob Hartman has an article entitled "Escape From The Labryinth." I would like to hear your's and others at Adesk's opinion of his proposal. This article may serve as a start to stimulate something. Thanks, Gregg By the way I would prefer…
#21110- NEC 24pin Message #21261
From: Gregg Plummer Autodesk · AutoCAD March 28, 1988 11:41 PM
Yes, these folks sent me an evaluation copy of their driver for a NEC P6 and it seems to work o.k. I don't use it very often. Only problem is I don't seem to get full 8-1/2×11" drawings, they get compressed down to about 1/3 size. But I might have…

#21166- pcboard router Message #21257
From: Lester Hamilton Autodesk · AutoCAD March 28, 1988 9:28 PM
I am also interested in an AutoCad driven router, but for laminate ID engravings (you know, the ones used for name tags on doors, or more to my point, for machine function identifiers on control panels). Same deal: I'll let you know if I find anything; please do likewise. –Thanks,…

From: Training [ADESK] Autodesk · Talk to the Trade March 28, 1988 9:26 PM
Roger — Ok, I see what's going on. The ATTEDIT command must be fed the entity name of the ATTRIB, not the INSERT. The ATTRIB in this case follows the INSERT in the database, so insert this line: .. (progn (setq ename (ssname sset 0)) (setq ename (entnext ename)) ;new…

#21164- Assoc. Dimens. Message #21252
From: Jeff Brooks Autodesk · General March 28, 1988 9:04 PM
In looking at the psuedo block used to create the dimension I noticed it had all the same things in the association list as a normal text It seems to me there could be a dimension variable that would set the color of the text as a constant. This would…

#21239 AFLIX.ARC Message #21248
From: Training [ADESK] Autodesk · Audiophile March 28, 1988 8:30 PM
Michael — What graphics card are you using? AutoFlix runs on the IBM EGA (and 100% compatibles), and ONLY the EGA. That could be the problem. If you are using an EGA, could you please give us more information about your hardware/software setup? — Brad ..

#21240 pcboard router Message #21246
From: Avcom Autodesk · AutoCAD March 28, 1988 7:54 PM
Bob-One thing I can vouch for is that AutoPCB uses the same Acad menus w/ a couple of additional picks in the layout & schematic capture cycle but I believe they walk you thru the routing part w/ their own menus. It was pretty easy and automagic. randy@avcom
#21198- geographic databases Message #21245
From: Training [ADESK] Autodesk · AutoCAD March 28, 1988 7:53 PM
Ron — You can use a menu item to use the endpoints of an existing polyline as the endpoints of the first segment of a new polyline. The AREA command can then calculate the area and perimeter of the new polyline. BTW, in Version 2.6 we introduced a "running" mode…
.6 Mhz limit Message #21244
From: Training [ADESK] Autodesk · AutoCAD March 28, 1988 7:53 PM
Craig — Yes, there are all kinds of hardware compatibility issues that come up when you start running stuff at 20 mhz. The general rule is still, "Try before you buy." I was one of the early experimenters who discovered that there were indeed some significant problems with certain graphics…
#21195- 7220A HP PLOTTER Message #21243
From: Steve McCall [ADESK] Autodesk · AutoCAD March 28, 1988 7:40 PM
Joe, the HP driver supplied with AutoCAD supports the 7220(A), see the AutoCAD Installation and Performance Guide. If your cable is wired correctly and the communications parameters are set right (2400 baud, 7 data bits, 1 stop bit, even parity), it should work. What happens when you try it? =SM=

From: Bob Golden Autodesk · AutoCAD March 28, 1988 7:29 PM
Thanks for the reply! We've been using Orcad in the EE department and it's very nice. For my own research program I was hoping to find something that would operate as a part of ACAD. I really like to keep as much of our graphic material as possible in ACAD.…

#21235 #acad.lsp Message #21238
From: Dick Ferrigan Autodesk · General March 28, 1988 5:52 PM
Thanks for your help. I really didn't think about the fact that I could void the warrantee by opening up the ACAD.LSP file. I used a couple of spaces [B01] and [B02] on the AEC template, and they work fine.
#21209- #Herc Troubles Message #21237
From: Jamie Clay [Adesk] Autodesk · AutoCAD March 28, 1988 5:10 PM
John, I hate to ask this, but what was the condition that your friend "gave" you his old AutoCAD? Unless he sold/gave it to you, complete, and you are now assuming the registration this is a serious violation of the software's copyright. Old version or not this is not legal.…
#21212 Mouse Driver Message #21236
From: Jamie Clay [Adesk] Autodesk · AutoCAD March 28, 1988 4:43 PM
Ray, You should not be loading ANY driver from Logitech in order to use it with AutoCAD's Logi Driver. The driver Logi supplies is a MSmouse emulation driver and should not be loaded when using the AutoCAD supplied driver. I know the newer driver (DUD supplied) had some adjustments made…
#21199- #acad.lsp Message #21235
From: Jamie Clay [Adesk] Autodesk · General March 28, 1988 4:42 PM
Dick, first unprotecting AEC's lisp routine voids the warranty. Second the invalid character can come from a HIGH level ASCII character in the file, one that a word processor would leave. Check to make sure your Word Proc isn't leaving stuff behind. You can't currently add to ACAD.LSP that comes…

From: Jamie Clay [Adesk] Autodesk · General March 28, 1988 4:42 PM
You would be best then to pop over to the Picture Support Forum. (go PICS). We currently don't have a GIF "driver" for AutoCAD but believe it or not there has been a wish for one. I can see a limited need for one but currently there are many GIF…
#21187- #AutoSketch ?/wishes Message #21233
From: Jamie Clay [Adesk] Autodesk · AutoSketch March 28, 1988 4:42 PM
Well, like Duff said your list is pretty much future feature wishes, but there are ways to get some of these effects now. 1) You were on the right track with the pen width idea. The trick we have used is to take all the lines you want heavier, and make…

Novell Netware Message #21231
From: Don Murphy Autodesk · AutoCAD March 28, 1988 3:22 PM
The ADI driver at 7A is causing a problem with NOVELL Netware 2.0a using Ethernet. The ADI loaded before the shell gets wiped out, loaded after hangs up the machine. Any ideas or tricks around this? It is the only way to use the high res boards now, with the…

Hi, I'm new to the autocad section here on compuserve. I do computer graphics and animation on videotape. I have recently been offered an Autocad 3-d model import utility. Do you think there is any market out there for a service company to take Version 2.6 and above 3-d models…

#21110- NEC 24pin Message #21227
From: Steve McCall [ADESK] Autodesk · AutoCAD March 28, 1988 1:13 PM
Jimmy, if you upgrade to AutoCAD Release 9, there is a driver for the NEC cp5 that should also work with the p6 and p7. Otherwise, drivers are available from Limburg Engineering Associates (213-820-3359) or CodeLab (509-838-5535). =SM=

#21200- 15.6 Mhz limit Message #21221
From: Avcom Autodesk · AutoCAD March 28, 1988 12:32 PM
Corky/Craig-That soap-box is one that we also live on; the idea of service from a conscientious dealer is massively important as the hardware requirements and configurations evolve. We are trying to develop "if this, then this…"charts for all our tech staff (3.5 over stressed workaholics!) for the different hardware configurations…
