#97523 shaper get shape Message #97578
From: Accu-Weather Autodesk Software Forum · General April 18, 1994 8:11 AM
With Display/3D Display in the Shaper you can choose geometry that you want to see. Whichever window is active in the 3D Editor will be used. You could also render the view from the Ed and then assign the rendered bitmap as a background and use View Background to see…

I have the same problem with mapping icons, sometimes, but not often. I think this has to do with different brands of video cards, but I'm not sure. I'm not sure if anything can be done besides using a different VGA card or changing drivers. John Tissavary (LUNA cie)
#97525 Settings go off? Message #97528
From: Yost Group Autodesk Software Forum · General April 17, 1994 4:01 PM
Thanks David! I haven't had time to isolate that one yet because of these 15 new IPAS routines we're cranking away on. After looking at Chris' message, it seemed as if it had to be in that 3D Display code somewhere, and I _really_ appreciate your saving me the time…

Gary, If you haven't isolated the step that turns off the AXP's I think I have it for you. They get turned off when you use the Display/3D Display/Choose command in the Shaper. Doesn't matter how many objects you have and you can just use all boxes if you want.…

John, While I'm moving objects around I've had problems w/ control boxes around the object either not being visible or not representing the extents of the object. The same is true w/ the mapping Icon. in some viewports the icon is really visible and in others I can't even find…

From: Scott Womack Autodesk Software Forum · General April 17, 1994 7:26 AM
The Browser routine is worth the cost of the CD alone! It can be use for the World creating Toolkit as well as other more expensive texture libraries. I got mine the beginning of the week, and have fallen in love with the browser! -Scott

You can see thumb nails of you images if you build an index first of the directory where your images are. Then browse that directory and the thubnails will appear. This is all possible using the iscan.pxp Gregg Daly

#97213 3DS file convertors Message #97259
From: Syndesis Autodesk Software Forum · General April 15, 1994 8:33 AM
Yes, we have translators that convert between many 3D file formats, including 3DS, Wavefront, Vertigo, Prisms, etc. We will be releasing the standalone Windows/WinNT version in a matter of weeks. Also ready in that time frame are the IPAS versions of these translators. We don't support motion yet, just geometry.…

Hi, John! I've heard, you have some information on 3DS to SGI Giants (Wavefront, SoftImage and so on) file convertors. What is that (standalone utility, IPAS, batch convertor)? How about preserving animation (rla or rlb)? What those convertors do preserve (materials, PXP attributes, hierachy)? How expensive – available they are?…

Eckhard, I'm pretty sure that Designer is NOT going to be released for Windows (except for Windows NT). Autodesk will supply you with an additional license to a DOS AutoCAD (if you have the Windows version) so you can use Designer on your drawings. In addition, AutoCAD-related products are covered…

I'm looking for a better way to produce a linear motion blur in 3DS. Both the Object and Scene motion blurring methods in Rel 3 produce transparent copies which don't look right unless the sampling is a high number, like 10 to 15, and with our current render times, there's…

The current scheduled ship-date for the new routines is May 2nd, as long as the docs come back from the press on time (fingers crossed). Spencer, I'm not a Yoster, but Select/Element is a handy and quick technique for building selections of faces and vertices for use with the Modify/Face or Modify/Vertex commands. It does seem odd that you can't use selected elements with the Element commands but you're not losing much functionality. Steven
