If you want to composite or do effects based on the z-depth in the image, a depth buffer is the way to go. (you can bet that this'll be built into r4). Re depth cue shading, I mean the Distance Cue option in the Atmosphere dialog. – G

Just butting in here. You can pick up some affordable scan converters that can output a 640 x 480 flic in svhs, composite, etc. I just happen to have a Willow Laptop TV. Just load the driver and what you see on your computer screen runs out to tape. I…

Thanks for the clarification, Chuck. It's unfortunate that the 512×480 mode on that Herc card is so non-standard and that you've had to do so much work to get it running. Thanks for the extra effort too! – G

Gemuetlich
Message #97638
Langenscheidts Taschenwoerterbuch, English, Neubearbeitung 1990: Gemuetlich: Comfortable, cosy, snug, pleasant. While I didn't list every possible translation of the word, I don't think multiple variations qualifies it, for an instant, as "difficult to translate". The authors of Langenscheidts, I would hazard to guess, have come across much more difficult translations…

Of course you can merge just cameras. Do a MERGE or MERGE PROJECT/CAMER/ANIMATION. You can merge anything you want. I'm not sure about overhead, but using more lights without scrims definitely renders faster. Having to calculate shadows (scrims) takes longer. Besides, when have you lit a normal scene with just…

You are right! Basically, the 34010 doesn't support true-color, but the Hercules guys did some weird hacks to get it work. In this mode, however, TIGA can't be used to do the drawing. To implement this, we had to rewrite our TIGA VDC to take advantage of a generic draw-code…
