Well, yes VD 1.5 and 2.0 handle RCTC directly. That maybe the short term solution. Cost $100 then throw away soon. I dunno. I thought you had some experience with Studio Magic? From what I've read its titling, grahics, sfx, etc are wonderful for the low price. If I could…

Michael, I couldn't agree more. I'm just observing how things appear to be. Well, video junk food does abound. But maybe that's because people rely on post too much. It's the glamourous and hi-tec part. By the time the project reaches the DTV professional; most of the work should've already…

The cost of the Sony Hi8 SL-V7000 that does PCM audio is in line with the Panasonic 1970. I've just started shooting Hi8 but so far in using two tapes over and over I just don't see the problem with drop outs (there are some) or overall fragility. Anyway, I…

From: Jan Bottorff DTV Forum · Editing and Editors March 23, 1995 10:02 AM
There are two different JPEG chipsets from LSILogic. The DC1 (and many similar boards) use the cheap one. It's limited to 320×240 or so with a maximum uncompressed RGB data rate of 8 MB/sec (320x240x30fpsx24-bit=6.9 MB/sec). The expensive LSILogic chipset will do 32 MB/sec uncompressed. I have a Future Video 3300 and find it quite easy to compose EDL's with it. It's accuracy depends on the VCR's used. Without time code it reads the control track, and this is fairly accurate. Nothing beats time code, however.
