#134089- Ultima IV Message #134168
From: Nevin Longardner The Amiga Forum · Games July 11, 1988 9:20 PM
I don't know about that Steve. I remember seeing Pinball Construction Set in the same slideshow that previewed RtA, Arctic Fox, Sky Fox, et al. Nobody probably cares about it though.

From: Henry Colonna The Amiga Forum · Games July 11, 1988 8:23 PM
Hahaha – I haven't played anything good for awhile since DM. If Rings of Zilfin was made for the Amiga (I dunno) you may want to try it in the meanwhile – tis pretty good (tho not up to Ultima/DM level at all.)
#134160 Ultima IV Message #134163
From: Henry Colonna The Amiga Forum · Games July 11, 1988 8:22 PM
Well you can do "bad" in Ultima and play the game, but you won't be able to finish it. The game is trying to teach you something – I don't have a problem with that. I don't think it's like every other RPG – it keeps track of variables of…
#134152 #Ultima IV Message #134161
From: Steven Bennett The Amiga Forum · Games July 11, 1988 7:47 PM
Land of Legends was announced at just about the time Fairy Tale Adventure was released. Which just makes the waiting all that much unbearable because I *loved* FTA… I wish LOL was out already… (Just watch… They're all waiting for the Christmas rush… Within 3 days of each other in…
#134126 #Ultima IV Message #134160
From: Steven Bennett The Amiga Forum · Games July 11, 1988 7:43 PM
The player is given no real choice between good and evil. If he does good, he proceeds, if not, he doesn't. There are no real alternatives to being good and eventually saving the world, which makes it basically the same as every other RPG in existance. I've long wanted to…

From: Andy Backer The Amiga Forum · Games July 11, 1988 6:37 PM
Steve, talking about overdue, what about Land of Legends? I think it was first announced to be ready next month back in March of '87. (And yes, when I called the expected release date is once again, "next month.") I am anxiously waiting to see Dungeon Master on the Amiga!…

I wish it were a joke, but I'm afraid you're dead serious with good reason.
#134124 #Ultima IV Message #134126
From: Henry Colonna The Amiga Forum · Games July 11, 1988 10:50 AM
Hmm…well the player can choose his own path – please elaborate.
#134121 #Ultima IV Message #134124
From: Steven Bennett The Amiga Forum · Games July 11, 1988 8:37 AM
None of that, however, is truly a moral choice on the part of the player. Those choices are FORCED on the player as part of the game framework. Now if Ultima had allowed the player to CHOOSE his own path, even if that mea HELPING the forces of evil to…
#134087- #Ultima IV Message #134121
From: Henry Colonna The Amiga Forum · Games July 11, 1988 7:54 AM
There's alot more to that in Ultima, though – there's giving blood, money, the kill no/kill, not fleeing from battle, not answering questions incorrectly (saying that you are the best in the world for instance), and more..
#134086- Ultima IV Message #134120
From: Henry Colonna The Amiga Forum · Games July 11, 1988 7:52 AM
DungeonMaster is one of the most incredible games I've played, and it has incredible graphics and sound. It's a complete environment with 3 d monsters that move, walk, scream, get larger as they move closer and can throw spells. The same with your characters – they grow and can do…
#133848 Arkanoid Problems!!? Message #133889
From: Don Curtis/SYSOP The Amiga Forum · Games July 9, 1988 9:11 PM
Jer, Yes, I saw that message…real cute. I suspect that the dealer isn't spreading the virus, that the original disks may have been infected. Don
#133871 Ultima IV Message #133880
From: Henry Colonna The Amiga Forum · Games July 9, 1988 7:42 PM
Well (grin) there is a difference – I can see (barely) an argument for StarGlider and Bard's Tale, but there is no argument for Autoduel ST, it's worse than a type-in program from Compute! for a VIC-20, converted (and not enhanced) to an Amiga.
#133858 F/A-18 Interceptor Message #133875
From: Doug Winger The Amiga Forum · Games July 9, 1988 7:29 PM
Timothy, You'll see him on radar. Fly West off the carrier until the Island is North of you. Fly north to the pilot. This will allow you to overfly him without worrying about hitting the island. Now, get down low, the lower the better. When the pilot is in visual…

How do you drop the rescue pod close enough to the downed pilot?
#133733- #Harrier Combat Sim. Message #133856
From: Timothy A. Short The Amiga Forum · Games July 9, 1988 5:05 PM
I have HARRIER COMBAT by Mindscape and do NOT recommend the program. I just got INTERCEPTOR and think it is a much better program than JET.

Don, Two more new disks were tried at the dealer's on their machine and the same thing happened. See my message of the "great" service I got when I asked Discovery about it…. Anyway, my guess is that they have a problem…..a BIG PROBLEM with the new arkanoid!!!! Jer

#133815 #Ultima IV Message #133821
From: Marc Baime The Amiga Forum · Games July 9, 1988 9:41 AM
Henry, Have you seen the advertisements for Fire And Forget. Looks like Autoduel minus the role playing. 3D behind the vehicle graphics. Looks like your car equipped with missiles and guns facing attack helicopters, tanks, etc. Looks like it's going to be fun. Titus software says it will be released…

I hope your talking about Autoduel – Ultima IV is probably my favorite game of all time (getting ready to defend it to the death, withdrawing sword…)

#133754 #Ultima IV Message #133766
From: Doug Winger The Amiga Forum · Games July 8, 1988 9:57 PM
Henry, If it was 1979, and you ran it on an Apple, it would be great. However… It's 1988, and there is just a trifling bit more sophistication in the hardware. Nice concept – but the implementation should get the writer horsewhipped on nationwide TV during prime time. Doug
#133745- #Ultima IV Message #133754
From: Henry Colonna The Amiga Forum · Games July 8, 1988 9:32 PM
Autoduel ST is one of the most horrid pieces of software ever to be attempted to be marketed to the American public, except for maybe MS-DOS. The sound of the game is akin to a human with severe gastic distress, the graphics are worse than what an Atari 2600 can…
#133744- F/A-18 Interceptor Message #133752
From: Henry Colonna The Amiga Forum · Games July 8, 1988 9:29 PM
Well, I certainly wouldn't go that far! The only person whose credibility should be lowered for making a statement like that is if someone from EA said that – then their "stance" on the issue and their information would tend to be quite wrong. But for a user – no…

From: Steven Bennett The Amiga Forum · Games June 30, 1987 8:41 PM
I have been playing it… For a hint on how to get more energy, you have to read the novella… Then, fly real low and slow without bumping the ground starting from between the two heading towards the one, and you should be recharging… –>Steve Bennett
#74343 Farey Tale Message #74358
From: Steven Bennett The Amiga Forum · Games June 30, 1987 8:36 PM
When I finished, I had a bravery of around 1000, a luck of about 25, and I forget my vitality… I *had* a character with a bravery of about 1500 but my save game got all mucked up and I lost him. –>Steve Bennett

Jeff J is right on track! Just got through answering his message! EA DOES have customer support, even though they don't list their telephone numbers on their packages! Lords is a fun game, if you like simple strategy games. (Each game only takes about a half an hour to play,…

ALIEN FIRES Message #74350
From: JOHN CLEMENS The Amiga Forum · Games June 30, 1987 6:29 PM

Questions Message #74344
From: Ken Hill The Amiga Forum · Games June 30, 1987 5:26 PM
Jeff, Two questions: I have seen some talk here about Lords of Conquest. I wasn't aware of an Amiga version of this very fine game. I am assuming that they are talking about it on another machine…correct? (Any chance of a conversion for the Ami?) The next is just when…

Yes, you can get to the witches castle without the swan… In fact, you have to do so… (Use those totems!) As for the Sunstone, there's an unmarked keep in the mountains south of Marheim… You have to get there… –>Steve Bennett
