Meshes on CD/ROM Message #98969
Actually, I'm just window-shopping right now seeing what I can find, rather than spending the rest of my like re-drawing things that have been done before! … Anyway – sent you back personal mail, I got a portion of what you sent – sorta strange.
Meshes on CD/ROM Message #98968
Casey – you company is one of the (only one?) few that I *do* know about – I have the CD/ROM (and my 5 free meshes – thanks!) already.
##98119-New IPAS Message #98967
OK – already got it. I reported that it cured all the ills of my 2MB VLB Orchid F1280+, but still locks up occasionally on the machine that has the Hercules Graphite/Pro VLB (2 MB as well), but not an often crash-and-burn as before – and no random 1/5 black…

Gary (or whomever), what are the latest VIB drivers out there now?
#Meshes on CD/ROM Message #98827
Being relatively new to this stuff, I know there must be a vendor CD/ROM, etc that allow you to import pre-designed, material-applied and mapped goodies, like furniture, road signs etc. Can you guys give me a little help (and direction?) TIA!
Thanks, please do!

I'm in Charleston, S.C… I own a computer retail/repair store, and have been doing 3DS (almost exclusively broadcast design) for about 6 months, now… I have 21+ years experience in the computer industry, and would like to (plan to!) get into the 'accident reconstruction' field, but need a little boost…
#94145 Beta Vibrant driver Message #95244
Nope – I've stipped it down as far as loading only FILES=, BUFFERS= and the mouse driver, of course…
Thanks, Dave! I'll give it a try…
#Beta Vibrant driver Message #94051
Replacing the VIB* files on my machine cures one of two problems: no more lock-ups with random black and green dots on the top 1/6 of the screen, however I'm still locking up occassionally (Orchid F1280/Plus VLB w/2MB) at random. I still don't see any pattern to it… Both the…
Where are the really good AutoDesk BBS's that have good 3D-Studio, guys? I *know* there've got to be some…

I, too am very interested in carrying on about same – my business partner is a lawyer, and he wants us to get into such things ! Maybe we should take it private?
OK – thanks, Alan! I'll give that a shot. Seems like a plan to me…
OK – thanks, anyway!

OK, guys – here's one that should be a no-brainer, but I can't seem to figure out exactly "how-to": 'Watermarks' or the company or station logo that broadcast stations have added to the lower-right hand corner, which look as though they are clear, and allow anything that they are superimposed…

I've heard through the grapevine that soon we will be able to create 64K- and 16M-color "Flic" format files – and noticed that 3DS v 3.0 supports adding playback modules for those high resolution/color formats already. Where do we stand on this, and how far down the road should I…

Well, I suddenly got "Read Error 27" messages from WordPerfect when trying to edit some files – the application is installed on the server. (error 27 is their cryptic message meaning "A)bort, R)etry, I)gnore", etc) Anyway – all seems well as of late friday – more news at 11

I found my boots, snuffed out the network connections, reinstalled 3DS on both machines from the original diskettes and all seems well, except some projects files I created in the last two weeks seem to have inherited the attributes (sorry – no pun intended) of the ugly(s) from the server.…

Oh, believe me, I know! I've been fighting the PC-based computers for 11 years now, and everyone loves to play "Stump the Rat" for a pasttime … I've got it all licked, I do believe (well, except I'm sitting here with a Netware 3.11 server that apparently isn't catching write…

Everything went OK last night! I left four renderings in the queue on one machine, and put a 360-frame render on the other – all came out just fine! Thanks for your help – seriously – sometimes we think we're losing our mind these days …

I was beginning to think that was the case, too – only problem was I didn't see the spaceship come in and zap both machines … Anyway – see other posts in this thread today. I think I've got it cornered. Now I just have to find my pointy-toed shoes…
#82717 #3ds3 big bad juju Message #82882
Thanks to you, as well, Gary. I think you're right in this case – see previous posts this afternoon. Bummer is that now I'm going to end up with two severed 486/66 machines, and will only be able to transport file "the old fashion way" until I get the drive…

Thanks, John – it's been a pleasure seeing people "come to my rescue" that don't even know me from Adam's house cat! I think I've got a handle on it, but it not, I'll be the first to start squacking again!

Well, I *think* I've found the culprit – it =really= didn't make sense to me that both machine would "go south" on me at one time, but this morning when I was trying to copy some WordPerfect documents off the file-server I got an I/O error on the H: (network)…

Have you been following my "BIG problems w/3DS " thread, guys? What the heck is going on here? I've got $3000 worth of program that won't do anything but fall over and play dead right now – not too happy a camper!

OK- so far, for 10 days, I've been left out in the dark, IMHO. I think (since I've been in computers for 21 years, and a reseller for 8) that I know computers pretty darn well. I've run every diagnostic known to man – and *nothing* else has any problem(s)…

Well, unfortunately, the fact is that I have already rendered 1000' s of frames using the exact same configuration I am running now. I have dropped back to DOS 5.0 at one persons suggestion, "unStack"ed my stacker drive at another, reconfigured the vibrant driver to plain "VESA" compat. driver, and…

OK – I'll see what I can find, but I've already booted "clean" without any drivers except "FILES=", "BUFFERS=" and "Path" and the mouse driver on both machines (remember – we're talking about two different machines having similar but not the same problems…

Don't know – haven't tried that, yet. You're saying I should take it *out* of the custom configuration for my Hercules Graphite and/or Orchid F1280/VLB and try "VESA compatible" instead?
#81842 #BIG problems w/3DS Message #81924
Well, both machines are at 640x480x64k colors. Changing the resolution doesn't seem to buy me anything. From what I've been told today by a couple of the local 3DS gurus is that MS/DOS 6.x "just ain't cool" (yet), and that I *have* to get rid of my 'Stacker' volume on…

Hey! I'm trying to use 3-D Studio 3.0 (Rev 2) on a Novell network (3.11) and it's doing all sorts of wierd things! Sometimes, I can render everything just fine, and then it will often just lock up with "video noise" (only way I know how to describe it -…
