#171382 #Printing to plotters Message #171648
>>PMJI>> Robert, There is a great program called IMAGE ALCHEMY that will work with the HP 650 and the NOVAJET series of printers. It is a DOS application and I don't think is is very expensive and it supports large format printers (36" x 48 etc.). I don't have a…
Judy, I was reading some suggestions you received on your 300 dpi requirements and you mentioned that you do not know the book cover size. Why don't you assume that the book cover is approx. 10 x 14 x 300 dpi = 3000 x 4200 and they can resample the…
#169680 Razor Pro HELP! Message #169723
Mitch, The relative mode is a little squirrely to say the least, but it does work. With the "SNAP TO" in the ON mode seems to change effect, so try it in both on and off modes. You need to work on grabbing the clips on the correct side for…
Doug, Now that I have your name right, the buffer allocates more memory for importing of files, so if the file imports OK with the original setting then there is no need to increase the buffer size. Sound like you are up and going, I hope you got your project…
Tolek, The first thing that comes to mind is the buffer size in the PARDRV setting in your PAR batch file. If you have rendered to an alpha/32-bit file the buffer size needs to be increased to read C:\DPS_PAR\PARDRV /B:1800, you might have to increase it a few more bites…
#168002 move snap weirdness Message #168049
Glad to help out! I was not able to move my mesh back to 0,0,0 in AutoCAD, so it was a real mess to work with. My situation sounds very similar to yours, the snap did not bother me much but my camera paths sure were jumping around. I got…
#167888 #move snap weirdness Message #167905
Harold, Was this by chance a DXF import from AutoCAD. If so, try moving your project to 0,0,0 in AutoCAD and set your UCS to world before doing the DXFOUT. I have encountered imports which were off in left field and caused roundoff errors which will effect a vertices location…

#166893 #new PAR and NT ??? Message #166907
Bob, >>video for windows is all 16 bit stuff not 32.>Does anybody know if it will run in Chicago ???
#166872 Mesh Distortion Message #166881
>>PMJI>> Robert, A while back I had a similar problem with a camera path jumping around and this was also a large civil job. The scale and location of your scene has caused some single-precision floating-point roundoff errors, which will make the vertices fall onto there closest roundoff points, therefore…
#166760 #How to backup Par? Message #166829
Tolek, At the DOS command line in your PAR directory type PARDRV /P and this will put the PAR into its native mode, also in the PAR application if you leave the EXPORT MODE set to PAR not TGA you will exit the software in the native mode. -Mike
#166638 PAR and audio?? Message #166704
Carlton, I have not looked into the new NT software for the PAR/PVR, what I do know for sure is that the NT/PVR exports all file formats that NT supports, this will include BMP, PCX, TGA, TIF, AVI to mention a few. The only other product would be a conversion…
#166600 Razor Pro/NT PAR Message #166636
No problem Christie glad to help, Jamie is at Comdex, about your question with the sound card, the Turtle Beach Monterey is highly recommended by IN:SYNC/Jamie, but I have not seen the NT drivers yet. I am sure Turtle Beach will have the drivers by the time we need them…
#166614 #PAR and audio?? Message #166635
Carlton, I talked to DPS a few days ago and the report was that the audio/video sync drivers are going to be available real soon (I think they are calling them -AVI drivers-) and if you yell loud enough they will get them to you immediately. Also, if you are…
#166082 Razor Pro Software Message #166225
Sebastiao, I am still a little unclear on exactly how you are playing the clips in RP? Are you using the Previewer or the Player? If you are using the Previewer the compression is set too high, if it is the Player it should look just like the Windows MM…
#166180 #Razor Pro/NT PAR Message #166224
Christie, First I would like to clarify what you are looking for, the PAR or PVR software/hardware? The Perception Video Recorder/PVR will be the board of the future (at least for the near future, until the next revelation comes out). The PAR/NT software should be ready real soon, it was…
#165770 #Razor Pro/NT PAR Message #165825
Christie, The RP/NT software is in progress and should be ready about the same time as the PVR/NT version. If not, the Razor Pro/Win 3.1 version will work with the PVR/Win 3.1, you won't be left hanging without a NLE and player. -Mike Morgan
#165743 #Razor Pro Software Message #165824
Sebastiao, There are a few possible problems that you may be having. If you are playing you animation back from the PAR you might have the fields reversed. Next, if you are using the Player from RP the compression level is set to high on the Preview Settings or the…

#165249 Perception Q's? Message #165258
Brian, That's a nice call, maybe from now on I'll/We'll probably start keeping those "original TGA's around" for the PVR. That brings up a real good question, will the old *.ANI's work on the new hardware? Another note on backup's- TapeDisk is a great piece of software for copying TGA's…

Raf, I found a section in the 3D Studio Special Effects book -Effect 4 by Martin Foster- on pg.43-44 which helped me achieve this same effect you are describing. You might want to check out this book, it has a lot of good examples that have bailed me out of…
#161881 Ram woes Message #161896
Harold, I can't answer your question about the additional ram substantially decreasing your rendering time. I suggest that you optimize your hard drive each time you render, so that you have contiguous space for that large swap file. Is the final output size rendered at full resolution, if so, you…
#161812 Back up the PAR ? Message #161827
David, I use a 8550 ExaByte tape to do my par backups, also I have a 150 meg. Bernoulli by Iomega which works with the PAR. A suggestion would be the NEW 'Bernoulli 230', this drive is selling for under $500.00 and it includes 5 disks for a total of…
#161316 3DS TO PAR ANI Message #161330
David, PMJI >>Other drive letters can be used.
Alec, I just read my last message to you and noticed a "typo" on the latest version of Razor Pro. The last version that I downloaded is 1.0d not the 1.0c that I mentioned. I noticed that Jamie committed on the same, hope you got things working! –Mike
Alec, I downloaded the 1.0c version of Razor Pro yesterday morning. It works great!! It sounds like you are trying to set your final output settings to you DOS drive "c:\razor\preview.ani". If your final output is set as *.ani you should be setting it to the PAR drive. –Mike
#160492 #Backup PAR Message #160681
Andrew, You need to make sure that the PAR drive is a drive letter above all of the other network drives, this should be first thing that you do. Then you need to set the PAR drive as "other" in the drive type-description. From here you should be able to…

Alac, I thought that you were having a problem with the Player, there is a report on the problems/bugs you described and they are being worked on for the next release, when, I don't know. Mike Morgan, CAd Forms Inc.
Alac, The new upgrade should put the effects and transitions into there proper sub-directories, check their dates, then delete the files in the main Razor directory (these should be the old ones), you might and should recreate your new libraries with the current trans/effects. The problem in Razor player is…
#158265 PAR-max frame # Message #158279
Gary, The 11000 frame number was set arbitrarily, it was the magic number that I needed. Try a larger setting if you need it, I think it causes the program to us more ram so if you have it you shouldn't have a problem. >> Also with the new PAR…
Ies, Try creating the grassy area with a bevel around the circumference or raising the area and using a smoothing group to round off the edges and then applying the same grass image bitmap you like and add a little bump map using the same image (maybe 5-10% bump) and…
#158016 #PAR-max frame # Message #158082
Gary, There is a setting in the PAR.INI file to adjust total amount of frames, set MAX_FRAMES=11000 or so. I think this was my largest file on the PAR so I don't know if you can go any higher. Backup and delete any unnecessary files then optimize the drive. Then…

Jerry, Ouch! The version of of PAR software you are using needs to upgraded. That happened til version 1.3b (I think) the current version is 1.5 and I have even heard of a few patches to this version, but it will take care of your "Delete Project Directory" problem. What…

Dennis, Glad to here you got things working! Buying a 1.6 gig drive and having it format out to 540 megs wouldn't make anybody a happy camper. Glad to help! Mike Morgan, CAD Forms Inc.
Dennis, I just set up a 2217A for a client and he did not have the Enhanced IDE support, but the CMOS let me configure the drive for the proper configuration. I proceeded to prepare the drive with Fdisk and it only saw 540 megs as you described. The 540…
