#Way to go!
Message #168
Steve & John, Just wanted to say way to go guys! Great idea for a new forum, wish ya both a LOT of success! It doesn't look like you'll need it though! -GreG
Ash, There is indeed a Lightwave module for Interchange Plus. I'm sure John will fill you in with more information. -GreG
Paul, Thanks, I knew about VRLI's Mars DEM's. I wil be getting that for close up views. What I'm looking for is an image map of the entire planet for mapping onto a sphere for views of the entire planet from space. -Greg
#Spacecraft meshes
Message #141004
I'm looking for to-scale meshes for the following spacecraft/probes: -Mars Observer -Clementine Lunar Survey probe Meshes based on any of NASA's concept vehicles for -moon shuttle missions -moon bases -Earth orbit stations I am also looking for mercator projection , topographic elevation, or relief maps/textures of Mars, and the Moon.…
Chad, I believe that here in the US, you can only get Imagine through Impulse. I may be wrong however. Contact info for Impulse is in the text file CONTAC.TXT in the Impulse library section here. -GreG
>> BTW, maybe I'm missing a simple thing. I would like to see which subgroups are asigned to a bones (axis) How can I find out that other than comparing the name of the bone and the subgroup name?
>> BUT, what are the other 12 boxes used for? When I put numbers in them, the image doesn't seem to change at all.
>> For now though, it's experiment time. Joe, Feel free to ask for tips, suggestions, techniques, etc. over in GUGRPA forum when you feel the need to. >> But I'll tell you this: I'm so excited that I feel like a little kid at Christmas, no kidding.
Need 3D Animation Advice
Message #2013
Jimmie, For information regarding Imagine, either download or read FEATUR.TXT in the Impulse library. If you have any further questions not covered in that file feel free to ask. -GreG
>> Does anyone have an easy to remember way of describing how bump maps work? Is it 'black to white' creates a bump, or the opposite? A quick test render I did with a tile bump map showed that 'black to white' creates a bump, but this is opposite of…
>> I don't know about anyone else, but I had no problems at all in that regard. I was very surprised that I had so little trouble adapting and I'm in a constant state of astonishment discovering just what Imagine can do, or rather, what can be done with Imagine.
Pascal, As soon as the CD is ready for shipping I'll make the announcement. -GreG
>>…but I use Imagine almost exclusively now because I really LOVE it! Joe, I'm very happy you enjoy it! There are many people that use Imagine with other renderers. Like you said, each has it's week points and strong points. I know of people who use both 3DS, or Lightwave,…
Hi Joe, and welcome! Let me see if I can answer most of your questions. >> 1) How does the METALS texture work? Here's the snipit from the Texture doc file I have: ———- Metals Texture Type: Color, Reflect, Bump. This texture was put together so I could have consistent…
Black Belt Systems
Message #1919
For those using CIM, WinCim or any of the other myriad offline readers, please update your message and file sections. There's been an addition to the forum recently. Please Welcome Black Belt Systems, makers of WinImages:Morph, and related support software. I mention this only because for a limited time, BlackBelt…
Ok Ok Ok John, Yes you _can_ use these morphing programs to turn bunnies in lions. Happy? -GreG

Greetings
Message #1895
Ben, Great to see you finally here! Should make for a rather "interesting" forum to say the least. I'm looking forward to release 3 of your software! -GreG
>> I thought this was the "programs that morph bunnies into lions" forum. 🙂 Grrrrrr…. Actually John, to be serious for a minute here. This is the Animation Vendor's forum. Although your product. Interchange Plus, does not in itself create computer animations, it is an invaluable tool to the computer…
John, A new forum for Syndesis would be great! I would tend to think that the forum you use should be platform independant. Also, your main uses would be for tech support for your product. This forum fits the bill nicely. Regardless of what I think, , Matt Drury is…
Steve, Hopefully either Impulse or somone that is on the Amiga platform can assist you further as to what type of anim's you can use. -GreG
>> Any Ideas why sometime the camera come back to center point in the stage editor even after you save it… Alain, Are you also modifying the new camera position before you save in the stage? Any time you move, scale, or rotate an object you must update that objects…
Steve Here's a repost of a message I posted in the Imagine section of GUGRPA forum a while back. Hope it helps. ——————-snip—————— The constraint system currently in Imagine is rather immature…and thus at times can be unpredictable. I'll share as much as I know, but the only way to…
>> 1. How are animated brushes applied to STATE objects? Steve, I've applied FLC and FLI files (on the PC) to objects as I would a brush. To apply it to a specific STATE just LOCKSTATE it to the state you want. >> 2…I'm not asking to MORPH a brush,…
Alain, Great! I'm glad you were able to solve the problem. Looking forward to seeing some of your work here, and in the GUGRPA forum. -GreG
Thanks for the info on CGW Pawel. I wasn't sure which issue the article was going to be in. Mow let me check it out and see exactly what was quoted. -GreG
Pawel, Imagine 3.2 should be out in a few weeks to those that are part of the Constant Update program. >> Just today I got my CGW… Cool! Which issue is that? November or December? -GreG
>> A menu on the first screen is entitled SuperVGA modes. Than menu will cycle through all the video modes that Imagine detects from your video card. Thats all that menu selection does. >> I have a Kelvin 64 Video card, what drivers do I need to use a higher…
Alan, You should be able to see if your card is Vesa compliant, and which version by running MSD.EXE at the dos prompt. If MSD.EXE is not in your DOS directory then it's either in the Windows or System directory (provided you have them). Run it, click on VIDEO ADAPTOR,…
>> when I render in the PC 480 format I only get part of the picture visible.
>> WHy don't you upload an example animation? Sam, Got some time you can lend me? If I did do it, I wouldn't spend any time sprucing up the default objects. I'd do it with the default solid colored datasets. Still Interested? The anim itself really wouldn't be of much…
Andrew, The smoke that is engulfing the figure started as a cylinder with many cross-sections. I scaled each cross-section individually to encompass the figure. I then applied the FILTER NOIZE2 texture to filter out parts of the white colored cylinder. Simple, yet elegant looking smoke. The smoke or mist in…
Andrew, Let me know how you make out with the suggestions made when you caught me online. I'd be interested with what you came up with. -GreG
Scott, Imagine for the PC requires a Math coprocessor, it won't run without it. GreG P.S. Imagine is faster on the PC platform.
>> I keep getting "IFFC All Intersecting Bug 2" By Importing I assume you mean converting an image to a flat object, as indicative of the above message. The above message has nothing to do with the image map itself, but rather with Imagine not being able to successfully add…
Perry, Any time I see some morphing or warping in movies or TV shows, I automatically assume they used ER. Thanks for confirming ER's use in STARGATE. -GreG
Arthur, I don't have the Amiga version of Imagine, but in following threads in the past I've heard that a corrected lensflar.ifx can be found on disk 1 of the installation disks. Just copy it to the appropriate directory. -GreG
Chad, How much memory is available to Imagine? Are you running any memory management software that reserves a specific amount of memory as XMS memory? Using the /noxms switch would cause Imagine not use that memory. Give me some more info as to your memory management, and how much memory…
Perry, Thats odd. I use Wincim also and still can't see it. Lemme check my forum settings. Ok, just checked in ascii mode. There is no section currently set up for ER in this forum. I checked my OPTions to check if I just didn't have the section active…but there's…
Michael, Viewpoint has some superb medical models of skeletons and internal organs and systems. Contact them for a free catalogue. They are pricey, but price is relative to what you are using them for. For a great set of human models, Crestline Software puts out The Humanoid dataset for Imagine.…
Perry, I don't think the section has been put online yet. I don't see it yet. -GreG
Mike, Got the skeleton. It's the one I've seen floating around that been described as a Female skeleton. The head and feet are rather dissapointing, but the body looks good. For distance shots it works. Thanks for uploading it. -GreG
Mark, CONTAC.TXT in the Imagine library has all ordering and telephone numbers for Impulse. If you can't access 800 numbers from overseas you can call the 612-425-0557 number. -GreG
Michael, Slice will work for you, just be in select faces mode. I'll look for the model. -GreG
I don't see a problem with uploading the native Imagine objects into the Imagine UG, and uploading DXF converts to the UG here. The native Imagine objects are much smaller than DXF, so the duplicated space will not be as great. Also, native Imagine objects will retain any object hierarchies…
David, Sure…shoot the object my way. I just hope it's not the skeleton thats floating around some of the BBS's…the skull is very simplistic. Thanks, GreG
Mark, Imagine 3.1 is part of the CONSTANT UPDATE program as you know. Imagine 3.2 will be shipping with even more great new features relatively soon (no I won't specify when ). Leave e-mail for Mike Halvorson, 76004,1767 for further info on ordering using your "Access card" (I assume that's…
I'm starting to stock the Imagine UG over in GUGRPA with objects from the internet with Andrey Zmievskiy's help. If you have objects to contribute I'd love to see them there.
Mike, You selecting the object you want to split out in SELECT FACES mode? Once you lasso the faces, perform the split. -GreG P.S. Can you upload the skeleton in it's original archived file? I'd like to see if we can make it available to Imagine users over in the…
Aruna, IPAS are third party modules for 3DS that add special effects and special modelling capabilities such as particle effects, fire, explosions, etc. They would be comparable to Imagine's Special Effects. Imagine 3.o is vastly superior to Imagine 2.0. The interface for the most part is the same, with several…
Fred, Use your standard startup files, just try substituting the following for your: DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS /shadowram:on DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE RAM HIGHSCAN This should allow you to use the same startup files for all your software, and allow Imagine to be run with the /noxms switch. If this fails, remove the "/shadowram:on" switch from…
