There are several player utilities available on this forum. If you go to the libraries and search on the key word PLAYER, you will find what you are looking for. -Brian
My Mistake. the forum is GO TRUEVISION.
Bailey, Control for tape decks in AAPRO is handled with FILTAPE. I don't know of anything that will actually allow you to do VTR control while in the program itself. -Brian
There are several drivers for the Targa+ here on the Forum. If they don't work on the classic 16, you might try looking in the Truevision Forum (go Targa) or calling Truevision directly. -Brian
Mike, in the Graphics support forum (GO GRAPHSUPP) there is a program called CVTAVI.ZIP which will convert an AVI file into a series of TGA files. These can then be brought into AA or AAPRO as frames of an animation. -Brian
I'm Confused. Is something still not working? Or was this just usefull information (which we do appreciate)? -Brian
Barry, When you re-installed, did you delete the file aa.cfg that was created the first time? That is the file which contains the video configuration. -Brian
JJ I second Greg's sentiment, Glad to have you aboard. -Brian
Keith, I'm hoping it was just a typo in your response to me, it is Int2fSwitch=yes. You typed something different. Did it work? -Brian
Daniel, You really need to ask this question in the ACAD forum. We know 3D Studio, butto set up ACAD type Go ACAD. -Brian
Kieth, Make sure you have the most current versions of the .dll files. You can download them from this forum. You might also want to try adding Int2fSwith=yes to the [AAPLAY ANIMATION] section of your win.ini. -Brian
The message definitely means that the video mode (or driver) is not able to be accessed by AAPRO for some reason. I have heard that Vibrant Graphics makes a driver specifically for that board, give them a call or drop them a line here on the forum. I have also…
\Windows Screen Savers
Message #52192
There are programs which will let you play an .FLI or .FLC file as a windows screen saver, look under the key words screen and saver in a library search. If you are looking for a program that will take one of our .FLI or .FLC files and convert it…
The actual file name is VSCREN.POE. Remember that you can do a search on keywords or for a file. If you are using a CIS access program like CIM, doing stuff like that is very easy. -Brian
Carl, There are two reasons I have come across for this error to occur. One is that you have corrupted files for some reason. Check your hard disk integrety. Have you had problems reading any files into other programs? The other reason I have heard is when you try to…
Shawn, Using both version 1.0 and 2.0 of 3D Studio would be a violation of your licence agreement. You were "upgraded" from version 1.0 to version 2.0. Only if you purchaced 3DS 2.0 seperately, for the full price (not the upgrade charge) would you be allowed to use both at…
Steven, It all depends on the model and the type of mapping that you are going to apply. In the case of something like a computer chip, which is all one face, it is fairly easy to take one texture map and apply it over the whole surface. In the…
Rachel, Everyone is talking about screen capture options… is there a reason you can't just render in a wire frame mode? This would give you a wireframe image of whatever viewport you decided to render. -Brian
John, I've sent out some literature to you as you requested. If you really wan't to learn about 3D Studio, however, I recommend you call 800-879-4233 (The 3DS dealer referral line) to find a dealer in your are where you can visit and see the program in person. -Brian Autodesk…
There are several players that are in the library sections of this forum, I recommend you do a search on the key word of PLAYER to see which one sounds best for you. For your Visual Basic questions, you will need to post thim in message area 1. -Brian
Remembering back to my film school days… There is no "resolution" to a frame of film. Each frame of film has, in theory, an infinite resolution. This is not the case in reality, however, due to the grain of the silver particles within the film stock. Calculating this can be…
There is no patch from Autodesk for 3D Studio to work on the OS/2 platform. It was designed to run on the DOS platform. I have heard tales of people who have gotten it to run under OS/2, however this is niether reccommended or supported by Autodesk or its dealers.…
Although AAPRO 1.3 runs under a DOS window, the performance is very slow, and we don't reccommend it. There is no optimum setting. -Brian
Gary, The Abnormal Program termination error means there was a memory conflict occuring at some point, most likely with the VESA driver. Is there a way to load the VESA driver from the video card into a different address? That would most likely solve your problem. -Brian
3D Studio Release 2 hit the streets on April 1, 1992. -Brian
Steve, It sounds like the mouse driver is causing a memory conflict. Try using a memory manager to load the driver in a different memory address. -Brian
Alex, If you have the full version of Video for Windows, that capability is built in. Many people believe they have VFW when all they really have is the runtime module to view the AVI files. -Brian

Unfortunatly , you have asked this question in the wrong forum. You are currently in the forum devoted to Autodesk Animator, Animator Pro, 3D Studio, etc. Please type GO SKETCH to visit the Autodesk Retail Products forum where Autosketch is supported.
Lydell, It sounds like you have a memory conflict with one of the drivers or something that has been loaded since it worked. Boot up with a clean config.sys and Autoexec.bat (That means don't load any drivers, TSR's, or anything) and try starting the program in VGA 320×200 mode. You…

OLE support
Message #47852
The Windows player, which should have come with your software, or you can find it here in the forum libraries, can be called up with an OLE application. The player utility is all that needs to be called up, you don't need to call up the whole application for a…
There are a number of players on this forum which are capable of high res playback. You can search for the keyword of PLAYER in the library sections and find several to choose from. _BrianR
If you set your pause to 999, it will pause almost forever, or until you hit a key to continue to the next animation. I'll let Nik answer the rest of your question, I am not familiar with your discussion. -Brian
Dan, Jack is right in stating that Animator and Animator Pro are considered two seperate programs, and there is no direct upgrade from one to the other. The retail price of AAPRO is $795.00. -Brian
Brian, Check out FLILIB.ZIPand FLCSPC.ZIP both in this forum for info on the FLI/FLC format. Also, GO DDJ to visit the Dr Dobbs Jornal forum to get the FLC file spec. In the future, you will get a much better reponse if you post your progamming related questions in section…

Message #46461
If you ask this question in section 1, you might get a better response, that's where the programmers hang out.
This is a good start for a story line. Since we all hate the bird… let's see how much pain and injury we can inflict upon it. Falls off cliffs, smashed by trains, smushed by anvils…I'm sure all the sick and degenerate members of the forum can do much better…
Charles, >>YAAP (Yet Another AutoDesk Person) who hasn't heard of the intermittent problems with the Summagraphics tablet. The mouse response flips top and bottom for me. You Misunderstand! We have definitely heard of the problem…we haven't been able to reproduce it. That which we can not reproduce here, can not…

I believe the AFI (American Flm Institute) has made one as a promo for part of their animation symposiums that they host. It shows the majority of major studio characters sitting around in a storyboard session discussing plot lines. -Brian
To order the AAPLAY.DLL developer's kit, call 800/879-4233. It's $25 plus a shipping charge. Good luck, -Brian
How about an autonomous, self aware, artificial intellegence program that has broken free from it's host computer and is roaming the worldwide network looking for michief? After a few milliseconds, it realizes it is bored and decides to start scrambling messages just for fun.
Dave, Right off the bat, I see you should be using the RDPTPLUS.EXP driver, instead of the RDPTARGA.EXP driver. There are also a few statements relating to your targa board that should mabye be in your Autoexec.bat: Set targaset= tmode targedit These commands are in my autoexec, in addition to…
Thanks for finding the conversion, did you just look at a conversion table or is there actually a formula or something that people can use?
Dave, If you call 800-879-4233 and tell them you have moved and are looking for a new 3D Studio dealer in your area, they can help you. This number is the Multimedia dealer referral line. If your problem really can be solved over the phone, then it can also be…
PMS is a designation for a Pantone color system. There is a direct conversion between Pantone colors and RGB values, but I don't have it. On Compuserve, check in Forums relating to DTP or Illustration, but your best bet would be to visit a good art supply store. They usually…
I believe what Evan was referring to was the 3DFACE command in AutoCAD. Using ACAD you could bring in your file, and create faces or surfaces that have the number of vertex points you require (actually, they may be one surface made up of several faces butted together to form…
Chris, Are you reffering to the files that are part of the developers toolkit? I'm not sure what you are looking for. Please give me more information. -Brian
