FWIW, I have MSCDEX loaded high (with QEMM 6.02) and it takes up 45k once loaded. my AUTOEXEC line goes: c:\qemm\loadhi /r:1 c:\sbpro\drv\mscdex.exe /v /d:mscd001 /m:15 the /r:1 tells QEMM to load it into the first region of UMBs (I think). I used the OPTIMIZE program that came with QEMM,…

Tim, well that makes me feel slightly less careless. Do you use TAPCIS/RECON too? replying and "forwarding to Email" is more convenient that noting down IDs and creating a new msg. perhaps thats the only reliable way though. dw

John The viewer on the Amazing Universe CDROM, ProVision is a lot better than IMDISP (It was actually developed from Imdisp). It is still DOS_based but now mouse-controlled, although rather "clunky" and unfriendly. It will only read FIT, IMG and ARN files, but can write GIFs and TIFs. dw

you might try using QEMM v6.02 or higher if you have 386 – you can often get more conventional RAM back than WITH raw DOS5. It will take ages to get it optimised and everything working with it, in my experience. The more stuff you want to run the worse…
