Hmmmm. I am going to PC land because of software, pure and simple. I have been running a 386sx board in my A3000 for about 8 months and with no trouble with IRQs, or anything else. Autoexec.bat and config.sys are no different in essence to startup-sequence or any other file…
Good Lord no!!. We shall continue to have these cosy meetings until we get fed up with them. The Dos box thing is a purely business decision. But having said that the Amiga ( Ihave an A3000) knocks spots off the average Windows box. The Amiga as you well know…
Dale, The next weekend of fun, excesses of computers and Vintage Port is April 22nd for 2 or 3 days whichever you prefer. I don't have large hotel only 11 rooms and often find I have to board folk outside at other places. Never the less we do have fun…
Paul, I bought ProCalc 2 yrs ago and, whilst it does all the usual jobs, it has a weird way or working. F'rinstance to enter something in a cell press the reurn key, not the cursoe keys like evrey other spreadsheet. It had other idiosyncrasies as well but since I…
Very wet, very very wet, cold miserable, shitty and anything else you can think of. Roll on summer. Apart from that Kent, everything is fine 🙂 Yes you do need an 030, or maybe even an 020 if it has an mmu built in. I use an A3000 and for…
Kent, Get hold of GigaMem, providing you have an MMU in your machine. Good prog. Pete From Dorset in Englands westcountry

Harald, The best thing you could do is get Studio from Wolf Faust, Am Dorgarten 10, D-W-6000, Frankfurt 50. This is by far the best program for printing with the Amiga and does have special support for Deskjet printers. Wolf sometimes comes into this forum. Pete From Dorset in Englands…
Graeme, I recently bought a USRobotics Sportster 14400 Fax modem and have nothing but praise for this little beast. It's quick neat and well priced. Phone Brian Fowler Computing on Exeter 0392 499755 for a good deal. Pete From Dorset in Englands westcountry
Brian, I suppose I could try some of the lower resolutions. I usually use 800 * 600 and just for a laugh I even tried 1024 * 768 which works perfectly well but is far too small on a std 14" monitor. I'll try 640 * 480..hang on a minute….…
Thanks for the thoughts Brian. Am I right in assuming you are running your bboard with the Amigas CGA output? I use an svga card. Pete From Dorset in Englands westcountry
Wolfenstein & 386 bboard
Message #123664
I've been trying Wolfenstein on my 386sx bboard. However, there seems to bve some memory corruption problems. It looks as tho part of the video mem is being troden on by something and I'm not clued up enuf to know how or what to do to fix it. What happens…
I don't want to be adamp squib but I had exactly the same problems with ProCalc and printing. Headaches and more headaches. In the end I sold ProCalc, got a 386sx board and Excel 4.0A. Now that is a SERIOUS spreadsheet. Printing via Windows is a joy to behold. Magic,…
Strewth Paul ! I I beleived everything in Amiga Format pigs could fly 🙂 however, on the basus it may be just a tiny bit true I will start saving now.

#POST ?
Message #116220
Michel, Post is a lot quicker than ProPage. However, you will need postscript fonts several of which are in a library here. If you are printing a multiple page doc thro Propage it is very slow so why not output the whole doc to ram using CMD and then sending…

All the best Philip with your degree course and many thanks for the help over the past year. Pete From Dorset in Englands westcountry
Ok, tried the bboard on friends A2000. IT ALL WORKS. Ain't life a bitch. This seems the problem is either the daughter board or the mother board. SO now I have to borrow a dboard and hope that works. Ye Gods! what a palaver. Pete From Dorset in Englands westcountry
Yes, I did try it some weeks ago and all worked at the time. I'm trying my bboard, video card and hdrive on a friends 2000 to morrow morning (Sunday) I'm beginning to feel it's either the daughter board or mother board or perhaps both. Pete From Dorset in Englands…
#IDE broken on 386bboard?
Message #108667
Thanks Steve, I tried my video/io card and the hdisk in a friends 486 box 2 days ago and it all worked a treat. I really thing htere is a problem either with the daughter board and/or the mother board. If so I reckon I'm totally knackered. So much for…
Steven, I checked on the multi board and the IDE is enabled. The board is by Viglen, I don't know if that name is known in the US but they do very well over here. In the manual that comes with the multi board there is reference to 'Current IDE…
#IDE broken on 386bboard?
Message #108384
Bridgeboard trouble again 🙁 Anyone help with the following. I'm using a 2386sx 25mhz bboard with a multi i/o svga board. This also has a floppy and IDE port. Everything works well except the IDE. Consequently this also means that my nice new 170mb Conner drive can't be used. I've…
Dale, Protext does all that and more. Pete From Dorset in Englands westcountry
Tony, The first thing to try is increase the number of buffers. The manual suggests 30 buffers per mb of disk space so try say 700 to start with. Also check if you have a decent size swap file, about 5mb should do. Both these should speed up your board…
Gracia, Yup, Excel will work just fine from an msdos partition on your Amiga scsi disk. My own partition (until I get a replacement bboard for my 170mb Conner drive) is 41mb, un-superstored and works a treat. Pete From Dorset in Englands westcountry
Can't really answer that but just say that it works fine with Norton for dos. Pete From Dorset in Englands westcountry
Gracia, I bought ProCalc based on the fact that it was the latest spreadsheet for the Amiga. Whilst it has several decent features and many functions its printint ability is awful, absolutely dreadful. I did try outputing via PPage as it has a genie for that purpose but all to…
Martin, Use filemanager to edit system.ini. The first section is [boot] and about 2 lines down is the mouse driver path. mouse.drv=c:\janus\amouse3.drv This will enable a decent mouse action via the bboard. Pete Pete From Dorset in Englands westcountry
I also got 38.31 and I'm running WB2.1 Pete Pete From Dorset in Englands westcountry

I know they are OK. All a question of who you know. Pete Pete From Dorset in Englands westcountry
This is indeed true 🙂 Pete Pete From Dorset in Englands westcountry
Bloody well hope not. They owe me a 386sx Bboard to replace the dud one I had recently. Apart from that I was speaking to tech support 2 days ago and they seemed to be quite busy.
I can't comment on an HP laser printer but I do much of what you are asking everyday using PPage 4.0A and a Ricoh LP1200 laser. Print the file you want multiple copies of to ram with the CMD prog. Then set your printer to do the number of copies…
Kelly, Yes I have got the extra ram now up to 4mb and your driver works very well thanks very much. Pete
Iain, I've got a Datascan scanner but havn't tried yet with a pic. I'll have a go at one and let you know. Pete
If I can also comment here Iain. I bought a Ricoh LP1200 on the strength of the adverts but to start didn't get the extra 2mb expansion. The driver used was the HPLaser one in this forum by Kelly Jordan. Kelly did a quick mod which enabled the driver to…

Wordworth is totally different beat to Kindwords. Wordworth and FC 2 are the 2 biggest "windows" type wprocessors in the UK for the Amiga. Protext is by far the most powerful Dos type wp and is used by nearly everyone who knows whats what. At the moment Protext doesn't handly…
Phew!! Thanks Stephen. I'll let you know how I get on Ok done all that and…….ZIP, no go at all. I phoned C= tech support in tech UK and they very kindly helped as much as possible but to no avail. From what I have been told all IDE drives…
Dave, Thanks for the response. Yes I removed aboot.ctrl I'll go away and try setting bbsetup to user Pete

Ok here's a tale of woe and a huge plea for help. I recently bought a 386sx bboard from C= and it worked fine with a 32mb virtual drive although a bit slowly. I got enthusiastic and bought a multi board with svga 1mb video ram, IDE, floppy controllers serial…
Wolf Faust Ci$ number
Message #100670
Wolf, If you read this soon can you email your Ci$ number so I can email you. I have lost your address 🙂 Pete
Thanks Don I'll do that. (time passes) Ok done that and the default? VGA mode had been set. However, it seems to be flakey so installed loads of new Paradise drivers which work very well. Thanks for the several suggestions to all. Pete
Hmmm…thought I was but I'll check. Got a new 170mb Conner to install this weekend when I get the Y shape power connectors. That should make a difference. Pete
