Well, you sure are lucky! I have been registered since the end of August, and have yet to see any upgrade to AAS v.1. After a call to customer service, they said to give it another week! I don't know what their procedure is for shipments, but I am glad…

#194213 AniStudio won't load Message #194250
OK Dave, I am definately interested in seeing an NT version, and not 'just' a '95 throwback. So please pass on my vote. Doug
#194035 #AniStudio won't load Message #194178
Thanks for the suggestion Behymer, I reinstalled and it didn't work, but after I ran some of the other icons in the program group and then tried again, it did work and has since. Now I am waiting on the 1.1 upgrade. Doug
#193920 #AniStudio won't load Message #194177
Dave, I reinstalled, still no go; then, I open up the other icons in the AAS group (which worked fine) and retried AAS, well, it opened, I do not know why. After that time, I tried 2 other times, after a reboot and later, and it seemed to open and…

Dave, Sorry I didn't include more in the last message, I just didn't want to send everything unless I knew it would be useful to someone, or thought there might be some issue specific to the problem I was having. I am using a Micron P133, 64 megs edo ram,…

Al, I am using a Diamond Stealth 64 Video Vram, with 4megs vram. The latest drivers. Doug
#AniStudio won't load Message #193529
Hi, I have just loaded Animator studio on my new P133, and it will not load. It just stops at the splash screen. I am able to normally close windows, so it seems that it is just loading the splash screen and stopping. I do not have any of the…

I think it is a good idea, especially with all our old IPAS routines not running on MAX, I would love it. You have got to keep the price down with the new MAX coming out and also you need to get it out in a hurry. Doug

Harley, I am working on my new P133 now, and I have to say that Micron has done everything right with me so far. Though I got the single processor MB, they quoted me a 2 week lead time before shipping (they quoted me a 4 week lead time for…

Will do. It should be coming in the next few days. Doug
#189842 # Help! SMP or RAM? Message #190031
Harley, Yes, I got a Micron. However, I got the EDO ram. I have heard that the Triton2 PCI chipset motherboards are coming out soon, and that these support bothe EDO ram and SMP. I hope this is correct. Good luck, I just called and they said the machine will…
#189368 # Help! SMP or RAM? Message #189604
Harley, I am in a similar situation, where the difference between a single processor MB and a dual processor MB, entire system was about $600-700, same configuration. I could reduce this by putting the system together myself, however, I really wanted to get a full system. If I could have…

Don, if you don't mind, what "incompatabilities" are you refering to when you say microsoft admits to…? Just curious. Doug

Hey Dave, You should check out the seperate forums for NT support (such as photoshop and the plug-ins you use, etc.) in order to get the most up to date info. However, I know that you will need to make sure you have photoshop 3.0.4 in order to have any…
I seem to remember seeing something about an NT version. Is this the same as the Win 95 version, and/or will it be nailed out as well? Thanks so much for your reply. Doug
Nik, I just recently purchased aas, and sent in the registration card about the 2nd week of august. I have not yet installed AAS, as I am waiting on the machine, but what is the procedure for getting the c1 update? Doug
I am glad to hear you liked your Micron. I am thinking that I will have to go with a single CPU design, at least until some of the apps I use really take advantage of it, and then hopefully, there will be a little more competition with these dual…
John, Your sentiments are well taken. Hardware problems eat away a good part of my working time. If this time were spent getting real work done, I'm sure any money spent on the hardware would be made up for in productivity. BTW, the price of the system you mentioned did…
Thanks John, Whats the price range on one of intergraphs machine? I was under the impression that they were rather expensive. Doug

#185511 #Glint/openGL cards? Message #185666
Thanks Bob, I hadn't realized how expensive they were at this time. I too will have to wait until prices drop some. Doug
Thanks Craig, I hadn't realized there was such a converter, much less that it took up a PCI slot. Doug
#185315 Glint/openGL cards? Message #185330
Thanks so much for your response Bob. I hadn't heard from anyone else, but saw a few references in other messages. Do you know the price range for these types of cards? Doug
Thanks Tim. What is the smp 1.1 spec? Doug
Glint/openGL cards? Message #184445
Could someone more informed than I tell me (and others I'm sure) some of the current manufacturers and boards that support glint and/or openGL 3d acceleration. I know that I would like to purchase a card for 3dsmax support. Thanks for any advice. Doug
Thanks again. So I suppose that those of us that do animation and graphics are less critical in terms of parity checking. Thanks. Doug
Thanks Kevin, I appreciate your rsponse. I will definately look for a board with as many pci slots as I can find, but there just aren't that many dual pentium boards to choose from. Doug
Kevin, What exactly does the fact that the triton chipset does not use parity memory mean? I guess my question is to the side of "Is this bad for us 3DS'rs?", "Should we be getting Neptune chipsets?", and "Is EDO ram not something we should be looking at for increased…
Thanks Kevin. I suppose you could cover an ISA instead of a PCI, right? Doug
Thanks Terry. Doug
#183901 PAR, Targa+16/32 Sale Message #183988
How much for the PAR and TBCIV? Do you have a drive with these? Doug
Thanks Terry, PLease tell me who the manufacturer is for your MB, and also what is Cameron's CID? Also, what speed pentium do you use on this MB? Thanks for your response. Doug
Hi, I am curious if any of you PVR owners could tell me how many PCI slots are required for the PVR/capture card combination. Do you need 2 like the PAR/TBCIV ISA combo? I am looking at a Micron dual pentium 133, but the MB has 5 EISA and 3…

Jonas, We did use multiple project files, but some of them were still long enough to be a little trouble. Doug
Mike, If you locate the IPAS, please let me know. Doug
Thanks for the tip James. I will definately look for the IPAS, and try it out. Doug
#Video Post wish Message #171275

I have a suggestion which I hope will have already been implemented in the NT version of 3ds, or someone may have a workaround. While recently working on a 14000 frame animation in the video post, I was constantly having to scroll what seemed to be endlessly from one end…
I agree, these are similar problems. I think that the suggestion for using the alpha channel as a animated texture or projection should work for your project, but the other seems to be a little more tricky. I have played with some projections to try and get a decent "impression"…
Heinz, PMFJI, but I was wondering about another similar problem, which maybe you have a suggestion for. How could you simulate a shadow through say a translucent cloth or umbrella? For instance, the shadow of structure or a tree on a semitransparent cloth, and you are on the inside of…
Thanks for letting me know. I will be waiting and watching. Sorry for the delay in my reply. Doug
Martin, I meant to ask, what chipset does the ASUS motherboard have that you got? I have heard good things about the Triton, but don't know enough about the differences. Doug
Thanks for the warning. I have heard a lot of good things about the ASUS. Doug
Martin, I am glad to hear it. I will definately talk with the company you bought from. Doug
