Martin, >> We're close but not exactly there yet. I'd be working on the problem also but I'm swamped with work and my poor little code-writing cells won't work after 12+ hours of animating! What kinf of motion-control software do you use? Ian.

#Motion Control Data Message #190548
From: Ian Christie Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Scripts September 12, 1995 9:50 PM
I'm trying to write a script to read data from our motion control camera system (Kuper) into 3DS to match camera moves. The X, Y, Z translations are no problem, I'm having trouble converting the rotation data. Kuper writes out rotational data in degrees around PAN,TILT, and ROLL axis and…

Do You have atmosphere on? Ian.
#189962 Hollywood electricity Message #190039
The way I do it is to paint the effect as a 2d flic in AniPro then map the flic onto an extra object as a transparency map. Use glow or Lensfx to complete the effect. Ian.
From: Ian Christie Autodesk Multimedia Forum · IPAS Usage September 9, 1995 6:14 PM
Bones Pro does not work with motion blur. I believe its a problem with the IPAS interface. Particles will not blur either. Ian.

#178370 #PAR AVI Message #178457
>>What is exactly your problem ? PAR2AVI creates the AVI file fine but when I try to import it into Premiere the computer freezes. I can regain control only by hitting CTRL+ALT+DEL, then I get a message saying that DPSCODE2.TSK has stopped responding to the system. If I then hit…
#178278 PAR AVI Message #178326
RE: PAR drivers I can't get the drivers to AVI drivers (MCI is a different thing) to work with Premiere. MCI is used to play PAR movies through Media Player, PAR VCR, etc. Ian.

Has anyone been having problems with the PAR AVI codec? It won't work on my machine. When Premiere tries to access a frame from the PAR the machine stalls, if I hit CTRL+ALT+DEL I get a DPSCODE2.TSK has stopped responding to the system. I hit RETURN and get back to…

#166542 #PC-Mac Syquest comp. Message #166731
I think it should. though I've found Mac's ability to read/write DOS Syquests to be somewhat flacky. It works with some machines but not with others. But then I've had problems using some Mac syquests on other Macs! Ian.
#166191 #PC-Mac Syquest comp. Message #166530
I use the Adaptec AFDISK. It seems to make a difference what version of DOS your'e using. Ian.
#166137 #Mike White: rock.mli Message #166529
From: Ian Christie Autodesk Multimedia Forum · IPAS Usage April 24, 1995 8:37 PM
Mike, I started out with the locked then updated to the unlocked. But I don't think the unlocked version came with the mli. Am I wrong? That would be too bad 'cause the mli textures are VERY impressive. (the ones I've seen!) Ian.
#166096 #PC-Mac Syquest comp. Message #166113
I use Transfer Pro to read/write Mac disks. However, Macs using system 7.5 should be able to read PC syquests. I've been able to do this with DOS 5 formatted disk but the Mac re fused to read a disk from 6.xx Ian.

In my copy only the materials involving the GRANITE.SXP were all the same. My guess is that the Granite parameters are getting lost. Ian.

Would a Commodore 128 do you any good untill the necessary treatment becomes available?
#159752 #TAR to PC software Message #159755
I use PCTAR. works great. You have to install a device driver in CONFIG.SYS (called ASPITAPE.SYS, as I recall) after your ASPI SCSI driver. Put PCTAR in your path, then type PCTAR -c(reate)v(erbose) directory_you_want_to_backup or PCTAR -x(tract)v(erbose) (directory you want to restore(optional)). goodluck! Ian.

#153690 #3D paint for 3DS! Message #154082
From: Ian Christie Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Index and Info February 18, 1995 11:58 AM
Gary, What's the deal with mapping coordinates with this paint plug-in ? Does it use what ever coordinates that are assigned to the model? I've been creating some seemless animal meshes to use with Bones-Pro. The biggest difficulty I'm having is with mapping complex shapes. Ian.

You may be having a problem with smooth groups. Try running 3dS's object/auto-smooth at 180 degrees. Ian.
>> Ian, you might want to take these kinds of questions over into the Alias forum. Didn't know there was one. Will do. Ian.
How do you access the Alias hair/fur? I just started a new job at a firm w/ Alias 6. But can't find all the goodies. Ian.

I have an ATI Pro Turbo and 3ds4 takes for-ever to startup using this card. Also after renmdering an image the screen does not update correctly, I have to press the ~ key. Also, in hi-color mode, you cannot see the faces you are selecting- ie, when you pick a…

I use the Adaptec PCI SCSI adapter and it works great. The VLB version also works.
Can you disscuss how this will affect existing IPAS routines?
#152324 #Special Effects Message #152336
I'm a "soft-core" Alias user and – yes I agree the grad tool is one of those thoughtfull features that really comes in handy. The KPT software looks to me to be VERY useful. The kind of thing that you never knew what you'd use it for before you got…
#152088 #Animating a glacier Message #152333
Re: glacier animating. Thanks for your input. Yes, I think I've got to consult the geologist about the nature of this sort of glacier movement. I don't think that is like the frozen rivers that flow from mountains.
#152206 Animating a glacier Message #152332
Kyle- sounds very interesting- I'd love to see it.
#152051 #Animating a glacier Message #152076
Kyle, We're talking end of the last ice age. The ice is receding back to the north To be honest I'm not sure that the ice itself actually moves or it just melts back like a sort of receding hairline. I'll have to consult the geologist on that one. I…
