From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · Personal Apps February 22, 1995 8:28 AM
Bob- I got the ROM chips yesterday – the holiday weekend delayed them, I guess – and everything installed smoothly, without a hitch. Paul (aka Mr. Zombie)
From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · Bridgeboard/AMAX February 21, 1995 8:10 PM
I'm not 100% sure, but the MacroSystem people only asked my dealer whether I had 2.04+ or not, so… But I'll call them tomorrow to check. Paul (aka Mr. Zombie)

#186245 #new supra 28K modem Message #186252

#186196 Modem differences Message #186250
From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · Communications February 21, 1995 4:50 PM
So what then is V34bis that you say is not likely to be widely accepted? I'm a bit confused about all the new 28.8k standards – I haven't seen them summarized anywhere. Paul (aka Mr. Zombie)
From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · Bridgeboard/AMAX February 20, 1995 7:35 PM
Keith- I sure hope you're wrong, because my dealer just ordered a Warp Engine 3040 directly from MacroSystemsUS for me, for my desktop A3000. Where did you hear that? Paul (aka Mr. Zombie)
#186129 Quicken clone Message #186151
From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · Personal Apps February 20, 1995 7:31 PM
Jim- I take it you're the author? Basically, what would happen is that I'd launch CheckItOut, it would open 1 window and then another, and my machine would freeze while the 2nd window was being drawn. During this time I was able to note that my system default fonts were…

Michael- You just have that mile-high attitude, I guess! Seriously, though, I wish you luck. Paul (aka Mr. Zombie)
From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · Communications February 20, 1995 9:28 AM
I understand, I wasn't faulting you, Steve, just being frustrated that no one seems to really know what services will be available. Feedback still hasn't responded to my questions on that subject either. Paul (aka Mr. Zombie)
From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · Communications February 19, 1995 6:32 PM
That sounds good, for sure! I wasn't sure how to interpret that message, and Steve wasn't forthcoming with interpretation. Thanks for the ray of hope! Paul (aka Mr. Zombie)
From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · Communications February 19, 1995 2:12 PM
Steve- That sounds like good news. Am I right in understanding you to mean that within a month or two we'll be able to use AmiTCP or something and all that (it's all Greek to me, for now, but I'll dive in soon) and get Internet access through our CIS…

#QPB Phone# Message #185900
From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · Ramblings February 18, 1995 4:46 PM
Karl- This is kind of stupid, but do you have QPB's customer service number? I just moved, and I can't find it anywhere, and I'm sure they've shipped all kinds of books I don't want, and I'm still waiting for ones I do… TIA Paul (aka Mr. Zombie)

#185833 Emplant Ad Questions Message #185840
From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · Emulations February 18, 1995 7:50 AM
Thanks Jim. That sounds better than I thought. Regardless, though, I'm sure I'll be getting an Emplant one of these days. One question though – was the Emplant in the benchmarks running on a stock 4000, or on Warp Engine 4040 or something? Paul (aka Mr. Zombie)
#CIS Internet on Amiga Message #185757
From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · Communications February 17, 1995 11:18 AM

#185618 Bad DS3 Guide file Message #185642
From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · Personal Apps February 16, 1995 9:03 AM
Bob- I don't think it's all as bad as that! I mean, it is pathetic that there were no ROM chips in the package, but it's just an ordinary screwup, I think, and the chips are supposed to be on the way. It's not even that hard to install them,…

Believe me, I know. I've gotten all kinds of grief from my last name. I've come to the conclusion that Billy Idol is The Most Famous Person In The World, since 2 out of 3 strangers, learning my last name in a business context and already talking to me -…

From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · Personal Apps February 15, 1995 8:45 AM
Very likely. I could go through and manually fix it, but it's not worth it. I just received 3.1 yesterday – except what to my wondering eyes did I see? NO ROM CHIPS! Expert Services wouldn't even overnight them – so I'll be lucky to install this week. 🙁 Paul…
#185509 I think perhaps Message #185558
From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · SoapBox February 15, 1995 8:45 AM
Yah, I know, it's the same old same old. Again. I think the decreased messaging though is due largely to the lack of real information and to the malaise that is settling in on those of us who are sticking with the platform for whatever reason. Paul (aka Mr. Zombie)

Progressive 040/25 $225 firm There's a bit of a story behind this board. I bought it awhile ago, used, from Joseph E. Hoh III of Kentucky who represented it to me as perfectly operational without a flaw on its shiny green surface except for working componants. At $425 plus shipping…

Bob- Thanks! I used Jim Butterfield's excellent Trimmer ARexx macro to reformat the file to 75 columns and now it loads without crashing. It's not perfect – some lines seem to be truncated by the Amigaguide reader program – but at least I can go through it for some highlights…

OK, no real problem for me since 3.1 will be arriving any day now. But as I told Bob Chapman, he was right – it seems to be that older AGs can't handle such long lines. Paul (aka Mr. Zombie)

Since I've been burned and nearly burned a couple times recently trying to register shareware, I figured I'd first ask this time if anyone here has had troubles. I'm about to register: DiskCat by Kenny E. Nagy for US $10 UUxT by Asher Feldman for US $10 VirusChecker by John…

#185250 Klondike AGA/MERLIN Message #185262
From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · Amiga Amateur Radio February 12, 1995 10:04 AM
Klondike doesn't exactly use an 8bit mode, though, in that it displays 262k colors rather than 256 through some hardware/software screwery. However, I'm sure that someone here could provide you with the modeID of HAM8 Productivity or HAM8 Super72, which are, I think, 2 of the modes offered by Klondike…
#185242 SWReg Scam? Message #185261
From: Paul Idol Amiga User Forum · Ramblings February 12, 1995 10:04 AM
Well, that's good to know. I guess I won't send off my $20 to the US SASG site for MUI. Kind of funny, in light of all their protestations of virtue and good intent, and the effort that went into that registration program. Paul (aka Mr. Zombie)
