Thanks, Herman. I appreciate your help with this.
DCTV question
Message #197761
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me exactly what DCTV will do for me, especially video-wise. I've been going through old AmigaWorlds, but I cannot find any reviews. I know it will capture video, which is the main reason I am interested in purchasing one, but I want…
What was your asking price again?
Ok…and how do I go about doing that, Steve?
Erik, do you know of any IDE controllers available for the Amiga A3000? I can get IDE CD-ROM drives so cheaply, I'd really like to be able to use them with my Amiga…
Ok…so what does that mean for the future of GVP products????
I noticed the title of this string was something about a GVP buy-out. I must've missed the first few messages. Was there a buy-out, or is there one in the making for GVP?
Thank goodness you're here, John! I am really confused about this program and I sincerely appreciate your help. I think I understand what you're talking about regarding the default WB. When I proceed after getting the screenmode error messages, a second WB screen opens at the bottom 1/3 of my…
For Sale: NEC CD Drive
Message #195182
Is this a double speed? If so, that bid is too high!
Hey John, I have a DSS8 and I was wondering if there is any way to upgrade it now? Guess it's too late, huh? 🙂 Well, if you know of anyone with one that wants to sell it, let me know… Thanks, -Dan
What CPU is included? Or is this just the Toaster board itself? And what graphics software is included as well?
Hey Kevin, is it still possible to upgrade to the DSS8+ ? Are did you do that awhile back? I still have the DSS8. Thanks, -Dan
Seems like a long time ago, doesn't it? 🙂
#scrmode Real 3-D probs
Message #46679
Another problem with Real 3-D v.2.35. When I try to run the first practice project, I get: ERROR! Screens.c 254 Unknown screen mode then… error detected while loading S… continue? And when I try to set-up a ham screen, I get: ERROR! getscr.c 136 Cannot find screenmode. Help! I am…
Like I said, they moved to greener pastures…
Gotta check those facts, Jer…
Hi Jim. I was just wondering when the Commodore Pet came out?
Well, I'm sure that Lattice dropped support for Amiga C to go to "greener pastures"…
#Real 3-D & Opalvision
Message #46626
Does anyone know of a program on here that would allow Real 3-D to render to the Opalvision board? I recently bought version 2.35 of R3D… Thanks, -Dan

I have a problem with AMosaic. I have MUI and AMITCP but I cannot figure out how to get it to hook-up over the phone line with my university's computer. I have an account there and can access the internet, but I'd like to be able to use AMosaic. I'm…
So Dan, based on what you know now, what is your opinion on the future(?) of the Amiga? Do you think Escom will work with any intersted parties in allowing production of the Amiga line or is it effectively dead?
Just get Terminus. I have no problems with any of the Compuserve protocols when using Terminus and I have been very happy with the program. It's great!
A friend of mine recently purchased a 75mhz Pentium w/quad speed CD-ROM, 8 meg mem, 530 meg hd, 1 meg video(exp to 2 meg), Soundblaster Pro w/speak and a ton of software from Best Buy for $1699. So….the A4000 price sounds a bit bloated to me.
Well, Jim, I think you must've confused me with someone else. I have no clue what you're talking about. Sorry about that. As far as a computer platform completely dying off, well, I think we may be watching one do that right now, unfortunately. I'm keeping my A3000 'til the…
Thanks for the info, Tom!
#JForth Profession
Message #189739
That's very interesting, Tom. Could you tell me more about applications for Forth? Is JForth Profession still available? Speaking of AI, there was a language that was used on the C-64 that had some basic AI potential. Ah, I just remebered the name – Logo! Does anyone remember that language?…
I see. So, any guess on how long this next bidding process will take? Like maybe…two weeks? 🙂 This whole deal is so incredibly stupid. Of course, they will have to wrap this thing up pretty soon because if the value of the Amiga technology drops any lower, people who…
#Latest Commodore news
Message #189145
Could someone give me the current status of the Bahamian Blunders? I heard some talk about Escom and some guys in Wahington, and how it's a done deal and now I hear nothing. What's the (latest) deal?
That is because your subscription ran out on the April issue, just like mine did. UNfortunately, we cannot renew! I sent my check in last month…
Amigaworld coming back?
Message #188163
Is there any chance of AmigaWorld coming back if and when the "sale of the century" (or is that the "sale that took a century") is concluded?
Thanks, Lou. I got that program and it is a dandy! Appreciate the advice. -Dan
Heck, it's because of us Amiga users' traffic through here that C-serve was able to drop the 14.4 rates by 50%! 🙂
Got it figured out, Pete. It's amazing what you learn when you really pay attention to what you read in the manual! Thanks anyway!
Thanks, Derek! After I calmed down and actually read the manual, I found the section that explained that. But I do appreciate you taking the time to explain it. And you're right, GPFax is a great program!

Does anyone know of a way to get GPFax to convert Final Copy files to fax format? HELP!!!
Maybe all of these mags know something about the buyout that we don't. Or atleast, something that we don't want to admit…
Hell, IDG probably bought Amiga Computing just so they could shut it down too… This whole mess is just making me sick to my stomach. Somebody out there in a very high position just doesn't want to see the Amiga come back. As for those idiots holding the "buyout", maybe…
I'll try disabling it and see if that helps… By the way, why would I be getting a stack overflow message?
#OV stack overflow
Message #186794
Help! I am using Disk Expander and am having trouble with Opalvision. I can open OV with no trouble and paint all I want, but when I try to load a picture, I get a system request with the message "stack overflow". I tried increasing the stack on the Opalpaint…
Maybe you should design a high-speed game module, at least for the 586 emulation(by the way, are the 586 modules available yet?). I'd buy the high-speed game version if the price was right…
Many thanks for the warning! Maybe I'll just live with my stock 3000! It could be worse…I could be using a 386…
Thanks for the info, Keith. Copperhead has a new one listed for $395 and I'm considering getting it. Your info was very helpful…
Thanks for the info, Keith. By the way, are you satisfied with its performance? Is there a significant improvement? Would you recommend it? -Dan
#Commodore A3640
Message #185371
Is anyone familiar with the Commodore A3640 accelerator? I was considering adding one to my A3000, but I wanted to hear from some folks who were familiar with it before I bought it. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. -Dan
Appreciate what we have with the Workbench. It is an elegant and rare thing in OS's nowadays. I have a question for anyone who may have an answer. What are the advantages of upgrading to 3.1? I have a 3000 operating on 2.1. Are there major advantages to upgrading, or…
Considering the money/headaches involved with an emulator, you should just do what I did. Buy a separate PC! It's much easier and when all is said and done, you come out spending the same money. Check out Computer Shopper. You can get a bare-bones 486 for practically nothing. And on…
PhonePak 4 Sale
Message #182949
No deal. If you change your mind, you know where to find me…
Chuck, I hate to bust your bubble here, but Creative Computers has the Phone Pak NEW for $199. I'll give you $99 for yours…
Then you, my friend, are part of the problem if you buy what the market spoon-feeds you. And get your information straight. I never said that the Amiga was an inferior product. If it was, I wouldn't own one. The focus of this argument is competition. Whatever suits the market…
>Look at 20 years of robust competition in the clone market and IME they >still haven't come up with a product that would make me say 'this is a >better value than my Amiga' Hmmmm, let's see. Now, which computer is still in production?? If you guessed Amiga, Lu, you…
