Hi Chris, The file format for 3D Studio did not change from R3 to R4, so the same information applies. R4 consisted of enhancements to IPAS and included plug-ins that stored thier settings (like the IK) in XDATA. -Grant Blaha [ADESK]

Hi Doug, While you could get Autodesk's Animation Support Libraries for $25 at 800-964-6432, the library is old, doesn't work well in many cases, and is no longer supported by Autodesk. I suggest instead that you look at Metagraphics Media!Lab which, among other things, has excellent FLIC file support. Metagraphics…

Sounds like your file got corrupted in some way. Can you delete the dummy objects? Try merging the file into a file that already has a Dummy and Dummy2 in it. -Grant Blaha [ADESK]

3DS R4 under NT doesn't work for 99.9% of the users out there. But, if you want to try it, you can get some hints in the file 3DS4-NT.ZIP located in the Hardware library (sec 6). -Grant Blaha [ADESK]

This is Jonas's way of saying that its too early to speculate on network requirements for 3ds Max. However, you'll want at least one copy of workstation so stick with that for now. It's great for medium level performance peer to peer networking. -Grant Blaha [ADESK]
