When I talk about this, I _mean_ windows, not screens. The word "screen" keeps popping up because that's what it's called on the Impossibly Badlydesigned Machine. We're talking text consoles, period. That means an evironment for _every_ window that has a console. If you don't want a console, you can…

No – it just means that for their ONE window, they kept a text record. Look at MS-BASIC on the Inferior Barf Machine; scroll the cursor right up thru the text. niiiice. That capability should be in _each_ conwindow. Screens and windows, that's part of the problem with this discussion.…

Yeah – and since there is no attribute map for that characters in the various (many possible) console windows open, how do you know, for instance, if the top ten lines are Ruby 12 pt and the bottom 14 are Topaz? Huh? You _need_ a text map, and you _need_…

No, I'm not. I've written several _very_ complete terminals, some that were emulations and some that were actually hardware terminals, no other purpose in life. I maintain that you _must_ keep a record around of what is in the screen – maintaining things _only_ in a bit map is an…

Nope. The one _I_ designed isn't buggy. Therefor, you don't need the source, nor the suggestions. CBM, on the other hand… hehehe. –Ben–

Design/implementation penalties. What can I say? CoComm also maintains a review buffer in text… but I didn't give you print control over that, either. Then again, no one ever asked for it. –Ben–

So check…. look at the smallest diameter ring, and count the numbers under the window. 16? Less? More? –Ben–

Um. Well, the code wheel doesn't bother me… only real cp bothers me. As for modifications for the HD, yeah, I did that too – out of neccesity only, tho. Too bad these people don't even think about the "heavy" systems when they do these things. It's so _easy_ to…

You, or anyone else, give me the source for a current, working console driver, and I'll make it work – and faster than the current driver, too, I bet. Handing 80×24 characters is _nothing_ compared to handling a complete bit map as well. For screen dumping, all you need are…

It's also the right way to do it. Which explains why CBM didn't do it that way. :^\

No problem. The reason no one has done that is beacause the console device does not maintain the text is ascii mode (because the people who wrote it can't think their way out of a BCPL bag) and you'd have to figure out what is on screen by bit-bonging. There…

Rick – rename SoundScape.library to SScape.library. Then use NewZap on soundscape to change ALL textstrings from soundscape.library to SScape.library and be SURE to null-terminate it correctly. That will fix it. You will also need to change any references in any other programs you have that try to open soundscape.library or…
Hmmmm. Well, I'm using FFS in a system with two big hard drives… one has two partitions, one has three. All partitions are FFS. The bigger drive has 3 40mb partitions, and the smaller HD has 2 35mb partitions. No problems at all, except those caused by broken software, like…
Who…… ME? –Ben–
Nope, sorry about that. Some subset of the ANSI terminal – whatever the the Amiga console device has built in, that's all. –Ben–
Glad he got some use out of it… that packet config was a pretty good effort, as you might guess from all the files associated with it. Took me about a day, I think, to get it just right. The idea of the buttons is so you can forget the…
Nope, noone. Even at CBM. –Ben–
75 from 3.1 – that's all I know
sounds like it's getting parameters as an input… and there is no Key word. got any "" characters in your script? If so, they may be taken as a replacement delimiter, and without a .K or .Key directive, cannot be processed correctly. If you _must_ use the "" characters, then…
Nah, you use icons there, too. Everyone gets access to Rosetta Stone. Remarkable woman, Rosetta. Even if she *is* always stoned. Of course, if YOU tried to relate all those languages together, they'd probably stone you too. –Ben–
Yeah, but then we'd have to go back to beating on Henry. :^)
For the fkeys, how about we put this big F, like, see, onna key caps…
Yeah… and then when WP is touted as state of the art, and "fast", it kind of makes you wonder, don't it? :^) –Ben–
Easy – hitler's – the one we're encouraged to live by via government indoctrination. "Die for your country" – " and so forth. Mind you, I said it was a _greater_ evil (agreed, that is) not _the_ evil one. They are both _very_ wrong, I think. And I wouldn't want…
Exactly. Took about 3 hours. –Ben–
Well, I never have to guess… I suspect others don't, either. The fact that you do indicates to me that you don't have a good grasp on the language. Perhaps it's simply not for you – but that doesn't make it ambiguous – only your understanding of it. –Ben–
Welcome to the world of EA. –Ben–
irrelevant, Larry. If a program does what it's supposed to, then it is "correct". If I _have_ to go thru extra steps, to get the _same_ result, then I start to have reservations about the language. Flexibility gets me hot… not rigid guidelines. –Ben–
No, I wouldn't write a book like that, though I do feel that religon is one of the world's major problems. I do _not_ have an "answer" to the worlds problems, nor to the insecurity that religon addresses, so I have nothing to say. Furthermore, I'm not knowledgeable enough about…
Well, there is no book… but notice *I* wasn't grinning either.

And there are those of us who hold serious reservations about those areas of his teachings… Once you don't buy the christian precept that _everything_ he said was right on the basis of "he said it", there is quite a number of items that make little or no sense once…
Hey! How'd you get page one of my new book, "What's evil in the world today" ???? –Ben–
