Peter, Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. I live in New York now and am going to be looking for a 3d staff position. Washington is a beautiful state and thought my wife and I would really enjoy living there. Appreciate your help. Brendan G.
3d in Washington State ?
Message #192446
Clarification: I am interested in the names of companies in Washington State producing 3d animation for the games/interactive and/or the entertainment/broadcast market. Any leads would be appreciated. Brendan G.
#3d in Washington State ?
Message #192324
Folks, Does anyone know of any companies in the Washington/Seattle area involved in the gaming/entertainment industry. I am interested in sending out my 3d Anim reel to companies in that area. Any clues or names would help, I know Sierra On-line is up there but thats all I have so…
Mark, > In the words of the Queen of kool, Martha Stewart " It's a good thing. " Brendan G.
Dave, Another voice in the frey…. WB is an incredible program. It's price/performance ratio is just about right. I am restructuring my Reel to incorporate some WB work, nothing to much (10-15 secs), that will be enough to cause a few, " what the hell was that!! ". Animatable weather…
Mark, I think you'll like the program when you do get it. It's a monster. Patience, in every sense of the word is key with WB. As far as it's speed in camera move animations… that can be a little disheartening. But if you look at it with a slightly…
David, You win the 'Most helpful solution award' , just tell me where to send your complementary case of ice cold beer. Assuming I don't drink it during today's festivities. Thanks for the help and Enjoy your 'Labor Free' ? Labor day. Brendan G.
James, As I was reading your suggestion I had to stop and think that you must have had a real need to solve this problem at some point. I applaud your ingenuity. In this case though I think David's welding of the vertices is the way to go. Thanks for…
John, I was hoping to avoid losing the coordinates I applied to the section. I do like David's idea of rewelding the vertices individually. It's a small square section so it should'nt take too long. Thanks for the help and Enjoy your 'Labor Free' ? Labor day. Brendan G.
#DetachedFaces look Wrong
Message #188879
Folks, Probably painfully simple but…… When I detach faces from an object, ( a sphere for example ) and then reattach them they appear different when rendered. I was mapping an animated mouth to a block of faces on a toy plane. I applied Planar Coordinates and then reattached the…
Mark, I use Premiere/Par with an ATI Mach32 and have no problems. Also use Razor Pro, the RP solution is quicker unless you need some of the features the P4.0 offers. Brendan G.
Alex, Ok….. So that means it won't? be included in Organix as eluded too ? Well at least what it does, it does very well. Looking forward to getting 'Sticky' Brendan G.
#Organix–Not so Sticky
Message #188104
I had an interesting conversation with one of the fellows over at Digimation. It seems the 'Sticky mapping' will NOT be included in this first release as previously eluded too. Was this common knowledge ? I could have sworn that it was mentioned as one of the strengths of the…
Martin, > Interesting, do you render to system drives, do your compositing and then go over to your A/V system ? < >>yes, compositing is actually all done in 3ds' video post, and then the final output goes to the PAR/PVR in the case of tests
Martin, > Agreed, this thing is a monster, with incredible capabilities. Show off !….. Brendan G.
Terry, Not neccesarily. Dave at Digamation said that their N/T version will support at least the PVR, but didn't think it would support the PAR. > This appears to be a 'me' specific problem. I will try it on another system later today. > Will do.. Brendan G.
Terry, Just an interjection…. I just recieved World Builder the other day, looks interesting and seems to have alot of power but I haven't had the opportunity to play with it much. Hear are a few of the 'Quirks' that have made an impression with me though. 1) Does not…
Mike, Thanks for the feedback. I plan to be spending alot of time building up my character animation examples and would like a stable, consistant enviorment to work in.
Chris, Thanks for the response. > That sounds very interesting… May be just what I need. I've been experimenting with the demo and I really like the 'Lock Node' function. Thanks for your help. Brendan G.
Puppeteer… How Good?
Message #185233
Mike, I see you U/L'd examples using Puppeteer. How do you find the program to work with ? Can you do much manual adjusting of motion files to give it a more custom feel ? Brendan G.
Chris, Thanks for the response. I guess whether the motion is derived from a motion file or manually keyed in won't really matter. Are you able to apply the motion to a seamless mesh ? Or do you use jointed geometry ? Brendan G.
#Puppeteer… How Good?
Message #184957
Folks, I'm on my annual fall spendathon and I have a question for anyone who is familar with or uses Puppeteer in their work. I find the IK module in R4 very unfriendly and unintuitive to use for character stuff. But I definately want to use the IK method of…
Scott, Sounds like it's working just fine. What you are experiencing is normal cutoff when you view your images on a video monitor. If you use the Alt-E function in 3DS it will show you the Safe Frame & Title Safe Fram. You can use this as a guide to…
Greg, Hmmmmm…. sounds like a must have. thanks for the tip. B-
Dave, Very interesting concept. I think I'll investigate this possiblity myself. If I come up with anything useable that can stream line this operation, I'll be sure to put it up on deck here for anyone else who may have a similar need. Thanks for the seed… Brendan G.
Greg, Thanks for the reply, I know minutes are valuable and scarce for you these days, so I appreciate you loaning me a few . 🙂 >>3DS puts the alpha file to the same drive as the render file, so it doesn't work >>with the PAR. The best is probably…
#Render with AlphaSplit ?
Message #183009
Folks, I am rendering a long sequence from 3DS to the PAR. I will be adding the Backround later when it is completed. I need to create an alpha of the animation. I was wondering if Alpha Split is my answer. Is it possible to render the animation to the…
Jamie, I love you guys…. ( well.. you know, in a married guy kinda way… : ` ) ) I love 1.0f , I don't know what you did but it really cruises !!! Look forward to all your upgrade paths and thank you for covering all the bases while…
Jamie, I too am quite interested as to whether or not you will continue to support my /Par/TBCIV system, at least for the next 6 to 9 months. Many users will require at least that much time to migrate 'all' of our software investments over. Actually I'm starting to feel…
Jeremy, Ok, Ok, I guess you guys do deserve the benifit of the doubt. I mean you have been batting in the 800 to 900 regin for years now. Faith keep. B. Gallagher
Funny…. but when one buys the software in the first place, one would think that they had already bought the the manual. Interesting chronology…. 1994: We got spline modeling ! We got spline modeling ! We ain't got no darn spline modeling… have an image browser instead. 1995: Animator Studio…
Matt, Dennis answered half the question, the other half is.. I got mine from Digimation. Brendan G.
Mitch, Just a quick interjection, The problem you are having is one of the most difficult parts of doing good chroma keying. If reshooting is not an option then depending on how lon the segment is and your dedication to it's final look you might try one of the following…
Sam, Sounds like you have everything you need. I bouhgt my PAR last year so I needed to do the upgrade. What is the DPS FTP site address ?? Brendan G.
Sam, Quite real actually. The ability to link a sound file to a PAR animation has been around for some time now, but recently I pulled the new drivers off the DPS BBS and it included a cool utility called PARVCR. At first I couldn't get this thing to work,…

Peter could you please send me some info on your NURBS modeler Thanks, Brendan G.
Using PARVCR ?
Message #170254
Any & All, Has anyone who who uses the PAR/TBCIV downloaded the latest PAR-MCI drivers from the DPS BBS. There was a utility included called PARVCR that theoretically allows the simultaneous recording of A/V. It looks great but I cant seem to get it to work. If anybody has, please…
Matt, > Sorry, Boe knows 3D Studio. Boe even knows Imagine. Boe don't know Truespace. Actually I was just passing through myself looking for info on T2, but it appears either nobody knows or nobody is talking. Interesting way to muster interest in a product….. B-
Kenn, All capitals in your msg is considered yelling on the forum. 🙂 Brendan G.
David,
Stephen, …………………be….careful…..what….you……ask….for……you might just get it. : ) Brendan G.
Bob, >>Me too I've tried it and had the same results. let me know what you find out.
Jamie, It's been a while…. hope your getting the chance to enjoy the spring a bit between your globe trots… 🙂

Terry, I am a 3ds user, and for many things I am quite hapy with the product. But, I am looking for a product that can handle Organic modeling more intuitively. I don't know what your policy is about discussing features in an upcoming release but I am quite interested…
Bill, ( lots of ambient crowd noise, and the the fading resonance of a bell… ) " Good round kid good round!!! He had you on the ropes there for a minute but you slugged your way out of that. Now remember Combinations! I want to see Combinations ! He's…
Serg, I just got back in, but I have to fly to get to an appointment in the city. I'll call you tomorrow in the A.M. Brendan G.
Jon, Glad to hear your up for it. We've been getting alot of positive responses. We're going to start getting this thing off the ground later this week. If you could E-Mail me your Phone #, either Sergio or myself will give you a call to check in with you…
Steve, We're going to start getting this thing off the ground later this week. If you could E-Mail me your Phone #, either Sergio or myself will give you a call to check in with you about your schedule and see about getting together in the near future. Brendan G.
Bill, This sounds quite exciting !!! Spring is a cool time to get news like this. Everything is blooming, all the little critters are just showing up in the yard, and you get that feeling like it's time to redefine the medium and create with a vengance !!! Sounds like…
Bob, I'll give Rich a call, thanks for the tip. If we get this group up and rolling I'll be sure to let you know. It will certainly be in the city, the only question is where…………………. Brendan G.
