#Internet archive bad?
Message #210296
I just downloaded TCP4.LHA from the libraries. Upon attempting to decompress, I get the message that it is a corrupted archive, and then it stops extracting. Can someone re-check this file and verify this?
There is a program in the Amiga libs called SoundMachine. Of all the programs that claim to convert to/from all .Wav's, this is the only one that really does it IMHO. I use it constantly.
What exactly *is* the EGS system?
Hmmm. Hooked up to the Parallel port I assume? If using an A/B switcher, switched properly? Only two things I can think of of the top of my head. If you want, E-Mail me a copy of your FG program (.LHArced or course) and I'll check it with my system.
You *do* have the FG Hardware as well, right (it's a little black box with three dials, a video-IN jack, and a red LED on the front?)
John, I have an original version of Framegrabber, still with its original program (I bought it as soon as FG was first made available). Now that was when 1.2 was the standard OS. Now with 2.1 (and 2.05ROM installed) my Framegrabber still works just as well. The problems does not…
#AW Execs lead us on
Message #188487
I'm beginning to suspect the the big-wigs at AW knew *well* in advance that April was the last issue. There are too many suspect items: 1) Several full page (and a two page) advertisement for another IDG publication – including subscription information. 2) Letters from readers saying how much they…
#AW Bites it!
Message #188394
Denny, PLEASE try and hook up with Amazing. My wife has been trying to throw out my old issues of AW for years, but I keep telling her "No! There's a lot of "help" stuff in those that I might need again someday!" – which I invariably do. Best of…
Sure, NOW you cover the Amiga. For months upon months we've been all but ignored, but when *you* guys need something, suddenly we exist again. Great P.R. work guys.
Hmmm. Then they're is something wrong with the program I downloaded. It won't load my sound samples for conversion to WAV. The program is SP-LIB.LHA. Perhaps someone should check it out.
#iffparse.lib
Message #42112
Where the heck can I find iffparse.library V37+? One of the new uploads requires this and I can't find it anywhere!
And while we're on the subject, is there a good conversion program for to/from Ami to .WAV?
Forgive my ignorance, but what is MUI, and where do I get it?
Where is DISPGIF located?
I've tried the LhSFX program, and don't really see the better compression. In fact, the new version of ZIP does a better job (only by 1% but still…) than LHA does. I will say however that LhSFX zooms as far as decompression is concerned. And BTW, is there a more…
The book states that Crss-Dos can be operated manually, without having to drag them to the other drawer – just by clicking the icon. This should have no bearing.
All I get is the standard DF0:/DF1: Format window telling me the disc capacity and my selection of FFS and Trashcan and the like. According to the book, I should see two icons: one for DF0:/DF1: and one for PC0:/PC1:. All I get is DF0:/DF1:. I'm stumped.
#BEATBY.LHA corrupt!
Message #38553
I think you need to check out BEATBY.LHA in Lib 5. I downloaded it twice (just to make sure) and both times upon attempting to decompress, it came up as a corrupted archive. Thank goodness it was a small download. I'd hate to have wasted major buck$ downloading a BIG…
#CrossDos dozing??
Message #39442
For some reason, I can't get CrossDos to operate properly under 2.1. I've been trying to format a disc with PC0: and PC1: (and I've checked – they *are* both mounted) and I don't get the alternate PC0:???? Icon that is supposed to appear. What's going on?
#2.1: nothing prints!
Message #38456
Please help! I've just upgraded to 2.1, and now, NOTHING will print out on my printer!!! I *know* I've got the proper driver loaded (I'm using an HP DeskJet 500), and I've tried alternating from HPDeskJet to HPDeskJetOLD to Generic – and NOTHING works!!! I just get a "printer not…
#2.1 upgrade HD question
Message #37880
I've (finally) put aside the spare change and purchased the full upgrade to 2.1. Upon reading the manuals however, I've become somewhat confused and have a question: With my harddrive, do I need to completely back-up all my information prior to installing the new 2.1 software (as I'm under the…
Will AMISOX convert Amiga samples to .WAV as well?
I wouldn't trust Grapevine. They advertise great prices, but they have yet to have the items in stock when I've ordered. In fact, I've had my 2.1 upgrade on order for over a MONTH now, with no word from them. They constantly claim "backorder problems", and say "if you need…

#Times fonts on HP DJ500?
Message #36586
Is there a special command that I need to use to have my HP Deskjet 500 print text in Times font instead of the default Courier font? I'm using the word processing program called Scribble!.
Strangely enough, I noticed my clock was off, and reset it anyway. Suddenly, the -tling problem resolved itself. Thanks though. If you hadn't said anything, I wouldn't have known that reseting the clock was what solved my problem.
#<unset>-tling problem
Message #35359
Geez, from one problem to another. Now during my HD bootup, I see the following: on my screen. Prior to this, my startup-sequence is as follows: Addbuffers df0: 10 c:SetPatch >NIL: ;patch system functions cd c: echo "Splunge Productions Workbench disk. Release 1.3 version 34.20*N" Sys:System/FastMemFirst ; move C00000 memory…
DF0: Is Suddenly a No-Go
Message #35339
I'm having trouble with my DF0: drive in my A-500. Suddenly, It's saying that all my disks have Read/Write Error. Then I try them in DF1: and they're fine. Any idea what happened?
#Superformatter SuperFlop
Message #96177
Apparantly, SuperFormatter is 100% non compatable with pre-2.0 systems. Every time I tried to use it, it crashed my system. There should be something in the documentation or the description to say this. It'd save me some download time & $.
Will this format High Density Disks (with a High Density drive of course)?

What are the system requirements for this to work?
Upgrading current system
Message #93844
How much would it cost me (on the average) to upgrade my system (A-500) to make it "up to date" (i.e. Workbench 2.04 – chips etc)? And what's the status of Wb 3.0?
Is it possible to check it under 1.3? It *claims* to work fine with 1.3 but for some reason, it won't do a blasted thing for me.
Well, that idea won't work, as the *other* fonts in that directory are still there. Also, after dumping the fonts in, my default font changed from "Times" to "Tyme". Both seem to be roughly the same font style, but how could the system just *change* the default settings that I…
#Lib16:AII.LHA don't work
Message #93522
Okay, I just downloaded from lib 16 AII.LHA and tried to get this baby up and running. I read the docs and checked to see if I was lacking anything. I claims to work under WB1.3 or higher, as long as you have reqtools.library version 36 or higher, which I…
@ Andrew Hounsell 100015,3026 Mucho thanks! It took a bit of time, but it worked like a charm! Thank goodness that I have a place where I can actually *ask* questions where folks know what they're talking about! Now if I can only figure out why PageStream2 suddenly forgets that…
Mucho thanks! It took a bit of time, but it worked like a charm! Now if I can only figure out why PageStream2 suddenly forgets that I have "Times" fonts. This one really drives me nuts. I install it on the HD, and run – no problem! Times is there…
There is an item made by RECOTON – the RECOTON VIDEO TAPE SPLICER (aptly named) which can solve all of your problems. It retails for about $45-$50 but it has complete instructions, diagrams and tools/accessories to repair a broken tape, and how to repair a tape that's broken off the…
#"pure bit" of hell
Message #33657
I'm having a bit of an odd problem. My hard disk recently crashed, and I had to dump all my info to floppies, reformat and dump it all back. Upon rebooting, I now see on my screen during boot-up the message "pure bit not set" which pops up again about…
Are there any *good* gif viewers that can handle 1.31. (hamgif is slow and sloppy)?
ViewTek 1.04 requires 2.0 to run, correct?
Hell, just being able to purchase the LCD color flatscreen as an OPTION would be nice. I've often thought that the A500 was a good choice for portability, and with the addition of a attachment screen for the traveller, they might have sold a few more machines.
Well, upon further examination, I've discovered that the 68000 chip keeps popping slightly loose. Try giving that chip a good push down and see what happens. I've not had any problems since I taped that baby down good.
Thanks a bunch! I'll give them a call tomorrow and place my order! (The trick now is how to make the wife understand *why* folks like me want to spend $30 for Fonts) Wish me luck. Have a good holiday,
Do you have the number for the store so I can order it? I'm *very* anxious to get them, and there are NO Trek fonts in the Libraries here that are PageStream compatable. (are you _sure_ that this font package will work on MY Amiga's PageStream(version2.2)?
Strangely enough, I too whacked the thing out of deparation, and it worked! Nowadays I've discovered that a few firm pushes on the right side of the keyboard and numeric pad can do the trick. Modern technology. Go figure.
#Star Trek Fonts: any?
Message #82049
Got a question for all of you in the know: Is there a "Star Trek" and/or a "Star Trek The Next Generation" style font anywhere? If so, can it be used with PageStream? Ready to label six season worth of tapes,
And what's the price(s) of these new "improved" machines, and what are the features designed to make me sell my 500 in order to get it?
#A-500 upgrade question
Message #80522
I'm just curious (before I get really ticked off): Is this new AGA chip set or system or whatever it is going to be made available for the 500? Or have I once again been left in the dust?
You got rid of your Amiga for an MS-DOS system?!? Sort of like trading in a Porsche for a Flintstone-mobile.
