#168895 Higher Resolutions Message #168953
>>Jonas' suggestion will work fine. Just don't forget to set the save-last-image to off.
#168646 Higher Resolutions Message #168654
>>You won't see the output image on the screen since it will be generated directly to the file you specify. Just be aware, that when generating such large images 4000 x 3000 you'd better have a LOT of memory or you'll be swapping to disk very often.

>>Sure.. set your render configutation dialog box video display driver selection to NULL and type in the values 4000 x 3000.

I need a high resolution tiff image created from one of the frames of my animation, I have tried several times to render a tif image at a resolution higher than the 800 by 600 resolution set-up during the initial installation of 3DS. Is there a way that I can…

From: Jim Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio April 1, 1995 6:17 PM
>>I think you're talking about Karen Fulton's "3D Studio Applied" book, which was waiting for an R4 "supplement" to be added to it — "Inside 3D Studio" came out with major revisions covering R4 (certainly not a "supplement"). I think you can even buy the supplement for Karen's book separately,…

#161848 #Flic Playback Speed Message #162108
From: Jim Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio April 1, 1995 9:33 AM
>>Playback speed is dependant on size of the flic, how much movement there is in the flic, the resolution, the hard drive, the speed of the processor, your video card, The position of the sun and planets, and the atomic weight of cheetos
#Flic Playback Speed Message #161833
From: Jim Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio March 30, 1995 8:58 PM
Can someone please tell me what really effects the playback speed of a Flic file?. I have noticed that most Flic files play back slowly even on a fast PC. What can be done to speed up the redraws of a Flic file? Is it the video card? Any suggestions?…
#155631 Rendering DXF Files Message #155798
From: Jim Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio February 26, 1995 8:18 PM
>>I'd say it's impossible to become fluent with 3DS without cracking the books. 🙂 You may find additional insights into efficient DXF->3DS issues in the "Inside 3DS for R4" book that had contributions/chapters written by several architects. You may want to peruse it at your local bookstore.

From: Jim Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio February 18, 1995 11:19 AM
>>No, there isn't, BUT… here's what you can do. AutoCAD R13 has a command called 3DSOUT which will crsate 3D Studio (3DS) files. Also, AutoCAD has a command called DXFOUT which created DXF files and these can be imported into 3D Studio's 3D Editor, 2D Shaper and 3D Lofter. It's…

From: Jim Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio February 16, 1995 10:27 PM
>>Yes! I hope the new 3ds and Ipas' blow away SoftImage NT, LightWave 3.5, Crystal Topas and any other renderer. And I'm sure it will because Autodesk and the Yost Group are awsome, and will now and forever rule the 3D market!
From: Jim Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio February 13, 1995 10:47 PM
>>NT is not slow and not buggy (although it is a bit large). Regarding porting decisions… I suppose that Autodesk feels that NT has a better chance at providing the market opportunity Autodesk wants for the future

Mike Macromind is basically a multimedia program. From all accounts I don't think that anyone can look you straight in the face and tell you it is easy to use. Apparently the learning curve is horribly long. What platform do you want to use it on? Is it for business?…
